Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Ohio City Burrito is hands-down the best place in town to get burritos. I will never step foot inside a Chipotle again!

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
Could it possibly be a Kohl's or a JCPenneys. You usually find those stores in a Steelyard Common type development?

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
One thing I noticed too is I don't think the DCA ambassadors are doing a very good job keeping the streets and sidewalks clean. I see them when I'm walking around and some of them are barely moving. DCA also used to be proactive about keeping the beggars off the streets but lately it doesn't seem like it's a big priority.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Is there a number out yet that states how many people are now living in downtown Cleveland. I saw on the map on one of the previous pages that downtown gained, but by how much?

Cleveland: looking for a good dentist
I'm not sure about what kind of equipment he has but I know he has a painless dentistry philosophy. The procedure I had done was a little tricky (fixing my retainer which came loose) but he handled it well. I don't know if he could handle your problem but I know he doesn't mind talking to patients on the phone to figure out if he can help you or not. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Cleveland: looking for a good dentist
If you are looking for a good dentist downtown you should try and check out Dr. Rosenblitt. His office is on the 15th floor of the Leader Building. I go to him and I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. Everyone in his office is so friendly and he genuinely loves working downtown. I highly recommend him.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
Hi everyone. I don't post all that often but I wanted to post this article I wrote in response to a negative piece on the local job market written in the student newspaper at CSU. Here is the article that mine is in response to. http://www.csucauldron.com/cleveland-seventh-in-hot-job-markets-1.1965941 Reader Response Cleveland Job Market By Cory Baughman The Cauldron Guest Contributer Published: Monday, February 14, 2011 Updated: Monday, February 14, 2011 16:02 Editor's note: Last week, I ran an article disputing the claim that Cleveland is a "hot" market for jobs. A reader e-mailed me in response, and I issued him a challenge. Students of Cleveland State often like to criticize The Cauldron, but rarely act to encourage improvement. The reality is that students like you run this newspaper, and that you have the power to change it by getting involved. I challenged this student to do just that. I asked him to take the points he would like to have made and turn them into a piece, something that, again, any student can do. The following piece, and all the other pieces in this newspaper are written by and for students just like you. Cleveland is struggling. That much, we know. However, Cleveland is not struggling because there are not any jobs in the city. According to a scholar at Carnegie Mellon, Cleveland led the nation for much of last year in manufacturing job growth. In addition, Chase Financial Services and PricewaterhouseCoopers significantly expanded their operations in Cleveland. Along with Cleveland's already strong health care job market, the local economy is providing lots of opportunities for all kinds of employees. Cleveland is also not struggling, because there are no people who live here. I will admit that Cleveland has shed much of its population since its peak in the 1950s. However, there are still many people who do live here, and, according to the Downtown Cleveland Alliance, the downtown area is one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in the area. So why do all the media sources always tell me how terrible it is to be a Clevelander? I believe the most pressing issue facing Cleveland today is the negativity perpetuated by the people who live here and in the suburbs. Everyone I talk to about the city always tells me how nothing good ever happens here. On the other hand, I am telling them about the Medical Mart, the Flats East Bank, Cleveland State University and Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland Clinic, East 4th Street and the many other amazing assets that Cleveland has going for it. A lot of these new projects are directly creating jobs in construction and hospitality. People will constantly tell me about the crime. I will not argue that there is not crime, but as someone who lives downtown and has spent most of his time in downtown and in the other inner city neighborhoods for the past several years, I have never been victim of a crime. And this is in the day, at night, on foot, on the bus. I admit Cleveland has a lot of problems facing it right now, but I want to challenge the young generation of this city to stop complaining, stop being negative and go out and make Cleveland a better place to work, live, learn, visit, and play. I believe Cleveland is at a tipping point, and I am going to do everything in my ability to make sure the city tips toward prosperity, safety, and a better quality of life for the citizens that call this city home. Next time you hear somebody say something negative about Cleveland, tell them how many great things are happening here and let them know Cleveland will not improve until its citizens start viewing it as a place where anything is possible.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
This might be a stupid question, but what exactly does "retail" encompass when talking about retail space? Does this include cafes and restaurants or is it restricted to merchants selling goods?

Cleveland: 2012 Democratic National Convention?
Denver had the 2008 DNC at the Pepsi Center which is where their basketball and hockey teams play. According to wikipedia, the capacity at the Pepsi Center for basketball games is 19,309. The Q's is 20,562. So that aspect would probably be okay. I am just worried about the lack of hotel space. I know we have some planned, but they will likely make their decision on what we have right now.

Cleveland Banks

Cleveland Terminal Tower Observation Deck
I'm not sure if everyone knows this or not but I just e-mailed one of the property managers at the Terminal Tower and he said the observation deck will be open on weekends in July from 12-4. So not sure if this is only temporary but this is good news regardless.

Cleveland neighborhoods/schools
I have to travel a lot to Wooster from my job in Westlake (which is a westside community on the border of Cuyahoga County) and it takes me about 55 to 65 minutes from Westlake to that shopping area in Wooster. I would expect places such as West Park or Berea to range somewhere between 30 to 40 minutes into Wooster. You shouldn't worry about traffic either because you'll mostly be going against the commute into the city. By the way, the easiest way into Wooster from I-71 is to take it to Rt. 83 south which is mostly 55 all the way into Wooster. Hope that helps.

Cleveland: Take A Hike
My girlfriend and I just went on the gateway tour tonight and we had a great time. Our tour guide was awesome and the actors were really entertaining. It was very informative and neat seeing all the new developments still happening around the area. It was nice seeing a lot of people out on a nice night. Not only on the tour were there a lot of people, but east 4th was packed as usual and a lot of people out at panini's and the winking lizard area. All in all it was a great night and just wanted to thank our tour guide who I'm pretty sure was someone on this board.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Here's the Cleveland.com article, it sounds like the Nashville site has no financing or a site selection. Cleveland's medical mart project faces competition from Nashville, Tenn. Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
I like what they said about connecting East 4th and the Warehouse District. I already see many people walking back and forth and if more people start walking between the two it could really energize a large portion of downtown.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
^I see. I guess I'm just a little irked at the previous two stories (WSM cop and Cadillac Ranch) and now this. I was a little surprised to learn Carl Monday lives in downtown Cleveland. That makes me think that he is genuinely interested in downtown.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
I don't know what Channel 19's beef is with downtown but they are running another negative segment about the city. It's called Dirty Dining Downtown. I know news organizations do these segments all the time but it seems like they are relentlessly attacking downtown.

Carl Monday is going after downtown again. His newest investigation is focused on purse snatchers at Barroom. It airs tonight.

Don't know if this has been posted anywhere but the vote to extend the U-Pass was last week and it passed by 86 percent. It also got extended into the summer semester. Definitely good news for all us students who utilize the service.

Cleveland-Lakewood: Enhance Clifton Transit Project
I saw this in the newspaper and found the article online. It would be nice for the buses to have bus only lanes that could really move people during rush hour. I also like how it goes into all the way into Lakewood. This route could have really high ridership if all goes according to plan. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/03/clifton_boulevard_gets_upgrade.html#more Clifton Boulevard to get upgraded bus service and 30 curbside stations Posted by Karen Farkas/Plain Dealer Reporter March 22, 2009 08:00AM Categories: Real Time News Lisa DeJong/Plain Dealer New buses and an upgraded transit line are the first steps in a long-awaited facelift for Clifton Boulevard. Lakewood -- More than 60 years after streetcars were displaced by automobiles on Clifton Boulevard, an RTA bus/rapid transit line will be the street's new face of public transportation.
