Cincinnati: Random Development and News
I was there Wednesday and noticed that too, but thought it was just the plastic protection for shipping/installation as they had just been installed. It'd be nice if they did a little more landscaping on the Celestial Street steps portion. Not to mention the walkway down to Oregon St.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Banks design needs 'excitement' http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090409/BIZ01/904100346 By Lisa Bernard-Kuhn • [email protected] • April 9, 2009 DOWNTOWN - Designers are going back to the drawings boards in hopes of spicing up portions of their plans for the first phase of The Banks riverfront development. Developers met Thursday night with members of Cincinnati's Urban Design Review Board, a group made up of local architects and business professionals. The board is charged with reviewing mostly private projects - particularly those that include city money - to ensure they conform to urban design practices...

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
Gary Sheffield?!? Really?!? GM talks Sheffield, others Full story athttp://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090402/SPT04/304020066 By John Fay • [email protected] • April 2, 2009 SARASOTA, Fla. – Based on what Dusty Baker said Thursday, it would seem like a long shot that the Reds sign Gary Sheffield. “I don’t know if we’re in the running or not,” Baker said. “He wants playing time.” Baker sounded set on Chris Dickerson being the starting left fielder against right-hander pitchers. “Probably not against (right-handers),” Baker said when asked about Sheffield’s potential playing time. “Dickerson’s coming quick. We’ve got (Jay) Bruce in right. (Sheffield’s) not a center fielder. I’m not going to lie to him. He could spell Joey (Votto) sometime at first base, be my guy off the bench.” Full story at http://cincinnati.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/stories/2009/03/09/story4.html

Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
During my lunch, I Walked around the "construction zone" that is our riverfront. Great weather! And sooo much activity going on at The Banks! Great to finally see progress being made! Snapped some photos with the iPhone, including the one seen below. Wanted to get some thoughts/opinions on how the Developers could incorporate the arched masonry pylon of the Roebling Suspension Bridge into the Central Riverfront Park. The South side is currently next to Mehring Way (photo taken from there) and the North side is next to a parking lot. Development plans call for Mehring Way to be moved to the North where the parking lot is. The area is not being used now, gated on both ends, and it's just dirt and trash on the inside.

It's been 117 days since Mr. Carden said that "if all goes according to plan, an announcement can be made within 45 to 60 days.". Ugh, the agony of waiting for news about our riverfront.

Cincinnati: Mt. Adams - The Palisades of Mount Adams
Hopefully this is completed soon and the whole area is cleaned up. The walkway behind The Palisades, along Columbia Parkway to the Celestial Steps, really needs some work. Especially with it leading to/from multi-million dollar condos. The City project to install new lights on the steps was supposed to be completed in October 08. The lighting is in, but not on. Work on the steps on the south side of the Columbia Parkway pedestrian bridge is underway. Eventually access to Riverview Park/Adam's landing will be more than a dirt path through a bunch of brush. This will be an even greater area to live in!

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
New to the Carter-Dawson website: "In this first round over 3,000 of you participated and the top name was "The Riverfront District" with 35% of the votes. "The Banks" followed closely with 34% of the votes. Additionally, 22% of you took advantage of our write in option, submitting over 750 names. The Carter Dawson master developer team, in conjunction with Strata-G and Northlich, are in the process of considering the best submissions and narrowing the list to a manageable number for one final vote in mid-April. Again, thank you to the creative people of Cincinnati and Hamilton County who obviously have a passion and an interest in what happens in their hometown." I for one call BS. I checked out the voting in the last few hours and "The Banks" had 40% (1100+ votes) of the vote followed by "Other" aka the write-ins with 28%, and "The Riverfront District" with 27%.

Cincinnati: Mt. Adams - The Palisades of Mount Adams
I find it interesting that a lot of the building has be re-wrapped in plastic. Before Hurricane Ike, all windows were installed and all plastic was taken down. Several of the windows (3-4) blew out during the wind storm. They were replaced with plastic. Now it appears the missing windows were replaced so why wrap the entire building? I too would love to be able to afford one of these. But, the City would HAVE to repair Oregon street (keeping the cobblestone) first. It's so very rough and narrow.

Oh, and another thing about the site; when are we going to see the results of the Renaming poll? Which was, IMO, a complete waste of time.
