With the impending changes at 4th & Walnut Centre, Hoxworth is pulling out of downtown.
  3. Full speed ahead: Streetcar operator will run more streetcars After a week of battling over streetcar delays, Transdev, the company that operates the Cincinnati Bell Connector, announced Thursday night it would run enough streetcars on weekends to meet demand. "Transdev welcomes the ... calls to operate more streetcars," said Ruth Otte, a Transdev spokeswoman. "We will add extra service to meet weekend demand and continue to work closely with (the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority) to make the Cincinnati Streetcar a great success for the city and the people of Cincinnati." Otte said ridership levels on weekends have been from 300 percent to more than 500 percent of what SORTA projected before the start of the service. "The streetcar has proven to be a huge hit and the voice of the people has been heard loud and clear," said Derek Bauman[/member] , a streetcar supporter who has been helping educate riders about protocols. "We have asked for more and quicker service and it's encouraging to see officials working collaboratively to achieve that goal." Cont
  4. Cincy PD really needs to get some traffic cops out on city streets during rush hour. In the State of the City address yesterday, Cranley bragged about the fact that we've hired 150 new officers since 2013. Yet, every time I have called in a quality of life complaint, I can hear them their rolling their eyes on the other end of the phone. Officers directing traffic downtown would have a huge impact. Just them being present would chill the road rage a bit, and cause drivers to stop blocking crosswalks and the streetcar tracks. There are generally 2-4 officers hanging around Government Square at evening rush hour and they do but watch the madness. And the Saturday of Oktoberfest there were 5 officers hanging out at gabbing while there was complete gridlock at 5th & Walnut. You can see three of them in this picture looking at a streetcar that hadn't moved for 3 lights.

  6. According to @WineMeDineMe, Crave has closed.
  7. I encountered a couple going to the Reds game that parked at the Gateway Garage and caught the southbound streetcar at Central Parkway. They were looking at the head liner for a map of the route and asked me when we'd pass Washington Park...
  8. Less than 24 hours before opening... One. Last. Controversy. One more streetcar fight for Council? Of course With less than 24 hours until Cincinnati’s streetcar finally opens to the public, City Council had to have one last fight over it. The problem: A sticker. Yes, a sticker. Council on Thursday was actually forced to vote on a motion whether to put a 4-by-6-inch sticker depicting the public transportation union logo on each of the city's streetcar vehicles. It seems easy. But Council didn't agree and fought about it briefly before narrowly passing the motion with a 5-4 vote. Cont

  10. WCPO used Facebook Live to stream their first ride. They must have answered the "how much to ride" question a dozen times. www.wcpo.com/video/watch-our-first-ride-in-the-streetcar?autoplay=false
  11. I'm sure Mitchell’s Fish Market loves that this will ruin the downtown skyline view from their patio.
  12. You can view the park plan Wednesday, September 7th between 6:30-7:30 PM on the second floor of the Guilford Building. New Lytle Park master plan to be revealed The Cincinnati Park Board will host a public meeting Wednesday to reveal yet another revised master plan for Lytle Park. Parks leaders are seeking community input. "The plan has been modified to meet the current reduced construction budget," according to a release from Cincinnati Parks. Cont

  14. Video from WCPO of branding being installed on a streetcar stop:
  15. Twitterverse is stating that opening weekend will be free... not sure if this is thanks to Cincinnati Bell or some other sponsor. Guessing the Founders Pass and Commemorative Tokens start on September 12th?
  16. Odd that the orange didn't totally go away... From @UrbanCincy:
  17. There was a Cincinnati Bell trailer set-up on Fountain Square a few weeks back with the dots leading to the new logo... There is also 'Connect Cincinnati', their citywide WiFi that is free to FiOptics customers:

  21. The inconsistencies I've experienced with their beer makes this idea insane IMO... Every pitcher tells a story? Bad Tom Smith Brewing plots regional expansion Ohio real estate market embracing craft-beer craze CINCINNATI - Bad Tom Smith Brewing is cooking up a regional expansion plan that could yield a half dozen new locations and $10 million in annual sales within three years, all of it built around the story of an Eastern Kentucky killer hanged in front of thousands in 1895. “We’re going to develop a concept,” said owner John Vojtush. “Then, we’re going to take that concept to communities where it fits.” Vojtush is a Cleveland-based software consultant and serial entrepreneur who came to Cincinnati to work for Toyota Motor Corp. Once here, he re-connected with a high school friend, Sean Smith, founder of the seven-employee craft brewery Eastern Ave. in Linwood. Cont
  22. Newport Hooters may move ... but just a little Hooters and the adjacent bar, Beer Sellar, in Newport might have to move slightly west - closer to the Purple People Bridge - to make way for development. What that development is, Newport City Manager Tom Fromme couldn't say. It's too early in the process. Cont
  23. Council to discuss city manager's future Cincinnati City Council will meet Wednesday to talk about the future of City Manager Harry Black. Councilmen Wendell Young and Charlie Winburn called for the special meeting Tuesday. A press release from the council clerk's office said the purpose was to discuss "the status of the city manager." Young, a Democrat, said he supports Black and wants to address rumors about his job security, including one that suggests Mayor John Cranley plans to fire the city manager, either now or if he wins re-election next year. 24. Updates on this project including an eventual move for Ei8ht Ball Brewery. Newport to OK New Riff's 'whiskey campus' Newport is expected to approve a development agreement Monday night to land a new "whiskey campus" on the city's west side. New Riff Distilling is planning a $7.5 million project to renovate two historic buildings and build a new structure that can store bourbon and rye whiskey. The older buildings will feature a distribution center, office space, space for storing and bottling raw materials, and a building to store the filled bourbon barrels. The new 17,300-square-foot building, or rickhouse, would be built so 15 bourbon and whiskey barrels could be stacked on top of each other. City officials say the New Riff project will be a catalyst for economic development opportunities along the rebuilt Kentucky 9, which will provide a direct path from the AA Highway and Interstate 275 to Newport's west side and downtown. The route terminates at the Taylor-Southgate Bridge, which connects Newport and Cincinnati. Cont
