  1. I've always thought it'd be great to have a local TV station broadcasting from the 2nd or 3rd floor of Carew Tower with Fountain Square a sa back drop...
  2. Their Bock beer was a big seller at Bockfest's local craft beer tent. It was an impressive first entry into the world of Bock beers.

  7. I wouldn't put much faith in @RoadmapCincy. They weren't aware of lane/sidewalk closures for the Renaissance sidewalk restoration and when I notified them they update their map showing the hotel at 4th & Main and only mentioned the sidewalk being closed. :|
  8. Cincinnati craft brewery killing off one of its canned beers Gnarly Brown - The brewery said in a blog that it is retooling the name, but the recipe remains the same and will likely be brewed again in the future.
  9. Look for the OAR (Ohio Alleycat Resource) staffed beer booth Fri-Sun. Our tips go to the cats!
  10. This began yesterday. Fencing is up from where the building begins on Walnut to the front door / valet stand on 4th.
  11. I've seen in-pavement flashers work quite well in other areas of he country. Hell of a lot better than an overhead sign with a single flashing light ala East Pete Rose Way at the Midland Building where police officers stop the morning and evening rush hour traffic to allow pedestrians to cross.
  12. Rob being elected to the board chair has been in discussion for sometime. Smitherman was on with both Bill Cunningham and Brian Thomas last fall discussing that this was the plan. Obviously all three were against it. Willie even commented that he would get on the horn with former trustee and large donor Jeff Wyler to put the kibosh on the plan.
  13. Love the RedBike station in the Taco Bell parking lot Why run to the border when you can bike?
  14. Let's keep the discussion streetcar related, please.

Seelbach: Cranley treats people like 'shit' * The discord between some Democratic members of Cincinnati City Council and the mayor has gotten so bad, Council members Chris Seelbach, Yvette Simpson and Wendell Young turned down the mayor's invitation to talk weekly, city e-mails shown to the Enquirer show. Seelbach agreed to meet once to talk about their "professional relationship", but didn't mince words in his response to Mayor John Cranley about why he didn't want to meet weekly: "...Our professional relationship (or lack thereof) has absolutely nothing to do with the streetcar, me being more progressive or past campaigns. It has to do with you treating people like shit. You treating people with no respect." Cranley asked Seelbach to reconsider. In an e-mail, he wrote: "I asked for a meeting so that we can improve our professional relationship and work together to move our city forward. I believe that the citizens want us to have a better relationship which can lead to better public policy." Cont *Note: Word is not currently censored on cincinnati.com

WLW's fake 'Big Ben Warning' goes too far A joke warning issued during radio station 700WLW warning women about Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has drawn criticism for its references to sexual assaults. The "Big Ben Warning" running on the local talk radio station declared "all women ages 18 to 40 are to use extreme caution, especially if heavily consuming alcohol ..." ahead of Roethlisberger's appearance in Saturday's playoff game at Paul Brown Stadium. "If you see Big Ben and he flashes 'Little Ben,' you are asked to report it to authorities immediately," announcer Garrett Sabelhaus says in the ad. Cont
  19. I got a skin burn going down the slide at New Belgium. Should I sue? :-o
  20. Unfortunately nothing has been reported in quite some time. Such a shame/waste... Cincinnati: Downtown: One River Plaza
  21. Memo: Streetcar costs must be set by Feb. 1 The city has been given until Feb. 1 to set its final revenue projections for operating the Cincinnati streetcar – a deadline established by the regional transit authority in an effort to keep the system on schedule to open to the public this fall. Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority CEO Dwight Ferrell told Mayor John Cranley in a letter Monday that the authority needs to know in a month whether the city plans to reduce the $4.2 million annual budget originally established to run the Downtown and Over-the-Rhine streetcar system. If the budget is changed, Ferrell said, the authority would need additional time to seek the federal government's approval and renegotiate the contract with the private firm hired last summer to run and repair the streetcar. That most likely means Cranley and City Council can't afford to engage in another lengthy political battle over streetcar costs if the system is to remain on schedule to open to paying passengers on Sept. 15.
