  1. Danger Wheel occurred a couple weekends back on 12th & Broadway in Pendelton and a DJ played until at least 10:30. I don't believe there were any complaints. Living on the riverfront I clearly hear the Friday Night Fireworks, Sawyer Point/Yeatman's Cove concerts, even bands performing at The Beer Sellar. Cincinnati Parks rents out a tent at the Sawyer Point Roller Skating Rink for receptions, etc. Saturday night was a steady dose of wedding classics like "Love Shack" and "Play that Funky Music." Even still, property values are doing well.

  3. I'm pretty sure it's already unenforced. Like adults riding bikes on city sidewalks. Visit the 4th & Sycamore Skyline any weekday lunch and you'll see the wait staff running out to feed the meters. I have yet to use the system... if you park at a 2 hour meter and pay the meter for 2 hours, can you later go into the app and add more time?

  5. The only "great" thing about the Oakwood Police Department were their custom yellow police cars...
  6. Some instructions! There has to be a better way then some sticker that can be vandalized / removed. And why aren't they replacing meters at The Banks (where pic of meter was taken) with the parking boxes? I signed up for a Passport Parking account via an email address. If you use a phone number, you may be sent up to 5 text messages each time you use the app. Not sure why you wouldn't just get said message via the app...

Perhaps I'm biased, but I'm rather unmoved by San Diego's logo:
  8. The bike lanes along Riverside Dr. currently have traffic counters. Cranley looking to build a case to remove them?
  9. Speaking of lawsuits: Toby Keith’s operator leaves trail of lawsuits

Per this article: Castellini: Cincy one of best All-Star hosts ever "Castellini said that while most of the actual game and TV revenue from the event went to Major League Baseball, the local club saw a spike in season ticket sales beforehand to boost local profits (although he did not get specific). " Also - In addition, $8 million was raised for different charities and local park projects through Major League Baseball and sponsors such as Procter & Gamble. - ...Saturday's color run, which brought in more than 15,000 participants. "That's the most ever in the state of Ohio, and we're looking for more next year," he said.

In what world does $500 get you three meals and a hotel room in a city hosting an event like the All-Star Game?! And these people didn't drink, buy souvenirs (everywhere sold out the $175 Todd Fraiser ASG jersey), or participate in activities ($35 zipline) I think we all get it Jake, you believe, both before and after the event, that the whole thing was overrated and overblown...
  12. No morgue in Mt. Airy - county giving up free land The plan to move Hamilton County's morgue to Mount Airy is dead. So are proposals to move the crime lab, board of elections and several other government offices. County commissioners killed the ideas Monday after months of increasingly pessimistic talk about the costs of turning Mount Airy's old Mercy Hospital site into a sprawling office complex. "We are at a point where I think we need to pull the plug," said Commissioner Todd Portune. Cont The hospital is coming down... Wrecking ball at last for Mt. Airy Hospital An era closed this week when Mercy Health rolled in the demolition teams to knock down Mount Airy Hospital, a facility the health care system couldn’t even give away. The hospital, on Kipling Avenue in the Mount Airy neighborhood, was closed in November 2013 after Mercy Health opened its glittering new West Hospital in Green Township. Mercy Health spokeswoman Maureen Richmond said Thursday the health care giant would hold onto the property for now Cont

I agree. Also live and work downtown and saw a lot of people wearing non-Reds MLB team gear, including an Expos hat. Ditto for Saturday afternoon at the zoo. The most incredible moment occurred on Main St. Tuesday afternoon where I witnessed three guys happily strolling along, one in a San Francisco jersey, the other two in Oakland jerseys. :-o

    Looking much better!
  15. Damn. "Poffenberger said the developer wanted to get an extension to buy the building, but the seller wasn’t willing to keep extending the closing date."

I'd do the zipline after a couple of these: Brewery's All-Star Game beer recalls time when Reds stacked the deck Andy Brownfield - Cincinnati Business Courier A local brewery is releasing a special beer for the All-Star Game, and it's a throwback to another time Cincinnati was in the spotlight. Covington's Braxton Brewing Co. is tapping 1957 on Thursday to kick off All-Star Week. The English-style mild will only be brewed once, and only about 40 kegs will be made, to celebrate Cincinnati hosting the 2015 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The name comes from the year 1957, another year Cincinnati hosted the All-Star Game, when Reds players were voted in for seven of the eight starting positions. Cont
  21. P&G inks massive deal to sell 43 brands Barrett J. Brunsman - Cincinnati Business Courier Procter & Gamble accepted Coty Inc.'s $12.5 billion offer to acquire 43 of the Cincinnati-based company's beauty brands, including Covergirl, Max Factor and Wella Professional. "This represents a significant step forward in the work to focus our portfolio on 10 categories and 65 brands," said A.G. Lafley, CEO of P&G (NYSE: PG). "We have leading global brand positions in these categories, consumer preferred products and leading brands in the largest markets. These businesses and brands have historically grown faster and have been more profitable than the balance. We expect these 10 categories to grow and create value as we focus the energy and resources of the company exclusively on them.” P&G expects to do a split-off or spin-off transaction involving the brands. The company would prefer to do a deal called a Reverse Morris Trust Transaction, in which Procter & Gamble shareholders could exchange P&G shares for shares of Coty. Cont
  22. Re-using the asphalt was undoubtedly to save money. I find the parking lines amusing and that they kinda tie into the history of the area, similar to the preserved housing foundations. I believe this is the case. Although bikes are all over the place in the riverfront parks.
  23. Not the original project... Big park initiative: A rundown of the details King Records Evanston Pavilion Cost: $2 million Neighborhood: Evanston Description: For nearly 30 years, King Records helped revolutionize the music industry producing bluegrass, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, doo-wop, country, soul and funk artists including James Brown and the Stanley Brothers.
