Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
Name, opening date for new Salazar restaurant Polly Campbell, [email protected] Jose Salazar is honoring his Colombian grandmother with the name of his new restaurant, Mita's. It's on track to open in August. This is the restaurant that we wrote about in October, in what was then to be the Dunnhumby Building at the corner of 5th and Race. It's now known as the 84.51° building. Jose and Ann Salazar are the owners of Salazar in Over-the-Rhine, a tiny bistro with a contemporary American menu. The new, much larger restaurant will showcase the flavors and dishes of Spanish and Latin American cuisine. Spanish will predominate, with paella Valenciana, some traditional tapas, pan con tomate, Iberico ham and other cured meats. From Latin America, there will be arepas, empanadas and seviches. Cont

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Has anyone seen the plans for 131 W 15th Street? It is the building behind 1432 (1434) Elm Street. OTR Holdings Inc. (3CDC) owns both as well as the vacant lot at 129 W 15th Street (at Osborne Alley). Here is a photo from today:

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I doubt it's going to be completely done before the All Star Game. They're crossing 6th this weekend but still have two more intersections to cross (each requiring a weekend closure) and a lane change to install. They might be able to clear the construction equipment out of downtown for the All Star Game though. I assume they will be prohibited from doing any construction the week of the 13th. Schedule 6th & Main: Jun 26-29 ASG stop: Jul 9-15 5th & Main: Jul 24-27 2nd & Main curve: Aug 7-17 4th & Main: Aug 28-31

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Or it could have been the fact that the mother was in the picture. We'll never know... "In that district, during the day, officers typically do not have partners, police said. More than half of police patrols involve officers working alone in their cruisers. Two-officer patrols are scheduled based on the time of day, the neighborhood and other factors." District 2's Capt. Jeff Butler was on Bill Cunningham Monday and gave additional details on Overtime. You also hear from Mayor Cranley, Derek Bauman, and Kathy Harrell. MLB: General News & Discussion
Here are the stats for the best pitcher in MLB... GP GS CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB SO W L P/GS WHIP BAA ERA 14 14 2 2 102.1 68 23 20 6 14 123 8 5 103.5 0.80 .181 1.76 And Johnny Vander Meer can thank questionable lighting against superior batters in his "wild" no-hitters. Max Scherzer now the best pitcher in the game David Schoenfield, SweetSpot blogger ... Johnny Vander Meer's two games in June 1938 were both no-hitters, the only man to do so. But it's hard to argue the sum of his efforts was more impressive. In his first no-hitter, he walked three and struck out four. In his second no-hitter, under questionable lighting conditions in the first night game ever played at Ebbets Field, he walked eight and struck out seven. It's difficult to diminish such a feat, but compare the combined lines for both pitchers: Vander Meer: 18 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 11 BB, 11 SO Scherzer: 18 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 26 SO Even in this trumped-up era of strikeouts and mediocre batting averages, I'll take Scherzer's games for pure dominance over Vander Meer's effectively wild no-hitters. ...

2016 U.S. Senate Race
Strickland has slim lead in Ohio Senate race Deirdre Shesgreen, [email protected] WASHINGTON — Ohio's 2016 Senate race has gotten a tiny bit tighter. A new poll released on Monday shows Ted Strickland, Ohio's former Democratic governor, with a 6 percentage point lead over Republican Sen. Rob Portman. In a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University, 46 percent of voters said they would support Strickland, while 40 percent said they would back Portman. In an April poll by Quinnipiac, Strickland held a 9 percentage point lead. The new poll also showed little payoff so far for P.G. Sittenfeld's efforts to introduce himself to voters across Ohio. The Cincinnati City Councilman is battling Strickland for the Democratic nomination, but he is still not well known outside of Queen City. Cont Speaking of Sittenfeld... I agree it is not relevant. FOP president Kathy Harrell has attended City Council's Law Committee and been on WLW multiple times stating more officers are needed. I'm not surprised she (and the Enquirer) politicized this tragedy.

Cincinnati: 2015 MLB All-Star Game
EXCLUSIVE: Great American Ball Park will bloom for All-Star Game with living wall Steve Watkins - Cincinnati Business Courier When fans arrive at Great American Ball Park for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, they’ll be greeted by an enormous floral display that will look like something out of the Rose Parade. Evans Landscaping, a Cincinnati Reds sponsor, is installing nearly 10,000 flowers that will cover the metal gates at the main entrance, creating a living wall. The floral display will transform the white metal grates that surround the main entrance into a colorful extravaganza. The flower displays will be designed to look like the All-Star Game logo and to spell out “All-Star Summer,” Evans field supervisor Adam Clifton told me. Evans has been custom-growing these flowers since mid-April. Cont

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
As an outsider, I agree 100%. It'll be interesting to see who's around come the end of the 2016 season... LeBron's handling of Blatt unbecoming Marc Stein, ESPN Senior Writer I have a question for LeBron James that I really hope he'll field someday. A question that can be asked a variety of ways. What kind of coach do you want? Who out there is a coach you'd actually like to play for? Who could the Cleveland Cavaliers hire who you'd give some meaningful backing? I don't have the answers to any of those queries. Cavs assistant coach Ty Lue is my best guess. I know this much, though: LeBron James is too brilliant as a basketball player, too truly great, to behave the way he did toward David Blatt during the NBA Finals. Cont
