Greater Cincinnati’s fourth largest bank is likely to take between 50,000 and 60,000 square feet at the nearly 395,000-square-foot office tower across from Fountain Square, sources told the Courier. Towne Properties plans luxury riverfront apartments in Mount Adams Tom Demeropolis - Reporter - Cincinnati Business Courier A new luxury apartment project is in the works along Cincinnati’s riverfront. Towne Properties, the developer of Captain’s Watch in Mount Adams, is working on plans for phase two of the development. Originally, plans called for three low-rise towers on the western edge of Adams Landing, a 30-acre residential development at the base of Mount Adams. The first condo tower, a four-story, 40-unit building located at 903 Adams Crossing, was completed in December 2006 and every unit has been sold. Now, Arn Bortz, principal with Towne Properties, said his company is working on plans to build an apartment tower that would house larger, luxury apartments next to the existing Captain’s Watch building.     For downtown Kroger store, here's what UC architecture students are working on Steve Watkins - Staff Reporter - Cincinnati Business Courier Dozens of University of Cincinnati architecture students have been working to help Kroger Co. come up with a plan to open a long-awaited downtown grocery store. Michael Zaretsky, an associate at the School of Architecture and Interior Design who is working with Kroger and UC students on the project, said UC has had about 10 students in each of four one-semester “studios” work on a different issue over the past two years. Those have included parking and fitting a store into an urban space. “We’re trying to come up with ideas that are a starting point for Kroger to put a store downtown,” Zaretsky said. Cont
  6. The question was on extended-stay business travelers... Will the hotel staff direct guests to the CVS/Walgreens a block and a half away or to the OTR Kroger at seven blocks. More likely they ask if the guest has a rental car and then directs them to the Newport Shopping Center or the Center of Cincinnati.

Exclusive: Jimmy John's at The Banks expanding Jimmy John's at The Banks is expanding, assuming 450 square feet from neighboring W.G. Kitchen & Bar. Brian Schaaf, a local franchise owner for Jimmy John's, said the expansion will add at least 40 seats to the sandwich shop. That location is currently almost exclusively carry-out and delivery, with only seven seats inside, plus an outdoor patio. "When we built the store, the only thing available was an 1,150-square-foot space," Schaaf said. "We get a lot of the baseball crowd with families coming in, and we really believe that it will help business to have more seating" during those times. Local 127, located at 413 Vine Street in Downtown, served up meals for the last time Saturday, while Lavomatic, at 1211 Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine, announced it has closed on its Facebook page Sunday night. City, county approve $112 M in GE incentives An Enquirer analysis of the GE deal to bring 1,800 jobs to The Banks shows that over the 15-year-term of the lease taxpayers will contribute $112.4 million. The breakdown of incentives: For city taxpayers: $36.4 million. For state taxpayers: $70 million. For county taxpayers: $6 million. It's the most lucrative job incentive package the city has ever offered, but it's a much-needed infusion of daytime workers for The Banks, which was always intended as a "live work play" neighborhood. GE incentive deal among richest in Cincinnati history Chris Wetterich and Tom Demeropolis - Cincinnati Business Courier In an incentive deal that could be the richest in Cincinnati history, General Electric will receive 85 percent of the city income taxes its employees pay for the next 15 years in order to locate its U.S. global operations center and its $142 million annual payroll at the Banks downtown, according to those familiar with the agreement. The Cincinnati City Council and the Hamilton County Commission are expected to be asked to vote on the deal at a special joint meeting at 10 a.m. Monday at Great American Ballpark. The total monetary value was unclear. The deal calls for: A 100 percent property tax abatement for developer Carter and The Dawson Company for the office building it will build to house the expected 1,800 jobs. A 15-year lease on the 10-story, 340,000 square foot, $90 million, LEED-certified building. The lease will have five, five-year renewal options. 1,500 discounted parking spaces at the Banks for GE employees. Cont

Joint city/county meeting to announce GE location City of Cincinnati and Hamilton County leaders are merging meetings Monday morning to announce General Electric's decision to bring up to 2,000 jobs to Cincinnati. GE has declined comment, but multiple sources confirmed to the Enquirer Wednesday that GE's months-long evaluation of possible sites ended this week with a decision to build the coveted office complex at The Banks. Officials announced the joint meeting Sunday morning, saying it was "in furtherance of the redevelopment of Ohio's Southern Gateway." In other words, the meeting is about The Banks. Cont
