Covington, KY: Development and News
Covington takes a shot at riverfront development In an effort to make some of its prime real estate more beautiful to look at and attractive to potential business investors, one Northern Kentucky city is working to transform itself into a “waterfront promenade.” The city of Covington announced Wednesday plans to turn 32 acres of land that spans more than 1 1/4 miles into a series of performance pavilions, riverfront walkways and trails for pedestrians and bicyclists. “Last week, after more than 10 years of due diligence and collaboration, draft construction documents were presented to the city commission that revealed the future plans of Covington's Ohio Riverfront and a funding option to make it happen,” the city stated in a release. Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I'll have to disagree with you. Living near Sawyer Point, I see activity there all the time. The tennis courts get a lot of use even with the change from free to paid use in 2013. You'll see families daily at the playground/picnic area. And the bike rental at Yeatman's Cove appears to be doing very well on weekends as well as evenings. Also, from May through September there isn't a weekend that the skating rink doesn't have an event tent(s) up and rented out for a party.

Cincinnati: Western Hills Viaduct
Cincinnati looking at whether Western Hills Viaduct fix could include transit Chris Wetterich - Staff reporter - Cincinnati Business Courier A fix to the structurally deficient Western Hills Viaduct, ranked as one of the state’s worst bridges by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, could include a transit option, the city’s top transportation official said Monday. Putting transit on the bridge has received increased attention since Pete Witte, a west side activist and onetime streetcar opponent, called for it in a letter to the Cincinnati Enquirer and subsequent news reports. Michael Moore, Cincinnati’s director of transportation and engineering, said he will make a presentation on the viaduct and possible transit options on May 28 at 1 p.m. before council’s transportation committee. Moore also plans to apply for a grant for the project from the state, although he added he’s not sure how successful it will be. Cont

Cincinnati: Downtown: W&S Condominium Project (3rd & Broadway)
Lytle Park work is catalyst for new development Lytle Park is 12 months away from starting the biggest overhaul in its 107-year history, a transformation that eventually could reshape southeast Downtown into a thriving new financial district. Planners are laying the groundwork now for a complex set of events designed to make it all happen. Just as a remade Washington Park transformed Over-the-Rhine around Music Hall, a revamped Lytle Park could spark new life at the other end of town. By next spring, the Ohio Department of Transportation will start installing new ventilation, lighting and tiles inside the I-71 tunnel, which runs underneath Lytle Park. Cont

Cincinnati: Eastern Corridor
Business Courier Subscriber-Only Article Oasis Rail Line opposition coming from unexpected places John Schneider’s user names on Twitter and Facebook leave no doubt where he stands on Cincinnati’s need for better public transportation. The business owner and Cincinnati wise man – he conceived the plan to wedge Great American Ball Park between U.S. Bank Arena and the Banks, was a leader in pushing for the untangling of Fort Washington Way and is known by some in his flock as Mr. Streetcar – calls himself “ProTransit” on the social media forums. So his position on the Oasis Rail Line, which would be Cincinnati’s first commuter train, is surprising: Schneider doesn’t support it. To ...

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Enquirer's story on the video: Reeder, Cranley make Cincy pitch on Squawk Box Cincinnati's push to brand itself in New York went national on Thursday, as Mayor John Cranley and REDI Cincinnati chief Johnna Reeder spent 10 minutes touting the city on CNBC's Squawk Box. Host Joe Kernen, a Cincinnati native and St. Xavier High School graduate, might as well have been a third guest. The interview was initially scheduled for Tuesday, but Kernen was off and requested the Thursday slot so he could participate. So while Cranley and Reeder discussed the region's 10 Fortune 500 headquarters, growing startup scene, and redeveloped urban core, Kernen peppered them with questions and comments about the Reds, Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton and Price Hill chili.
