  1. I personally enjoy Top Gun when riding in the front seat. If it was 20-30 seconds longer, it'd be one of my favorites at KI. However, this new name change is for the birds: The Bat will fly again at Kings Island Thirty-three years to the day it was first introduced in 1980, Kings Island officials announced this week The Bat ride will fly again. The 364-acre amusement and water park located off Interstate 71 in Warren County is changing the name and colors of the Flight Deck roller coaster to The Bat in time for the 2014 season. “There was a lot of passion and enthusiasm around this name change by our guests,” said Greg Scheid, Kings Island’s vice president and general manager. “They told us they wanted to bring it back.” Cont
  2. Westwood petition calls out ‘racially insensitive’ individuals A petition called “MyWestwood” has been posted on Change.org, asking residents in this city neighborhood to commit to civility, tolerance and inclusion, in light of a series of Facebook comments made by a Westwood resident about black city councilwoman Yvette Simpson last week, perceived by some as inappropriate or racist. The petition, created by “Residents Westwood” proclaims: “For too long, the largest neighborhood in our great City has been publicly identified by the negative statements of a few disgruntled, racially insensitive, and regressive individuals. This stops today.” Cont
  3. Who did council candidates get money from? Written by John Johnston Candidates for Cincinnati City Council collectively have raised $2 million in pursuit of a job that pays about $60,000 a year. That’s up from about $1.65 million raised at the same point in the 2011 campaign, when there were 22 candidates vying for nine seats, compared to this year’s 21. Again this time around, donors have shelled out the most money to incumbents P.G. Sittenfeld, a first-term Democrat, and Charlie Winburn, council’s lone Republican. Sittenfeld raised $328,000 and Winburn collected $318,000 as of Oct. 16, according to campaign finance reports filed Thursday, the last such reports before the election. Cont Also from the story: "Charter candidate Kevin Flynn’s fundraising total of $181,000 includes loans of $139,500 he made to his campaign." I've asked John Johnston via twitter what interest rate is Kevin Flynn is charging his campaign.

Cranley says he’ll repay $75,000 LISC loan Mayoral candidate John Cranley, who’s developing the Incline Village project in East Price Hill, has not repaid a $75,000 loan his former development company got in 2009 for work on what was planned to be a medical office building and 77 apartments. The loan is a “non-issue,” said Jay Kincaid, Cranley’s campaign manager. He said Cranley agreed more than a year ago to repay the money “as the development becomes profitable.” Cont

  9. Wow, this is a surprise to me. It's always busy during the lunch hours.
  10. We purchased our living room furniture, among other things, from them. Excellent service. It's a shame, especially with new condos and apartments set to open in the area.

Video of the exchange thanks to Jake:
  12. It's true. He said Pam was assisting some seniors in a high rise apartment who were without heat. She was trying to get the media involved.
  13. Loathe the name change...

  21. Rubber boot installed:
  22. Interesting... it appears the questions you receive could be on any council candidate. Mine was on Chris Smitherman.
  23. The trench is almost to 15th St. I believe John Deatrick said the track would be to Henry St. by the end of the year.
  24. Some photos from today of the rubber boot, track welding, trench digging, and the maintenance facility site (first day that I can recall that there is no activity):
  25. We heard from a COAST representative when Cunningham had Tom Luken on. The candidates are restricted from the airwaves until after the polls close. But you are right, Brian Thomas didn't utter the word streetcar today. Somethings gotta be up. ;-)
