  1. His appearance on WLW was really just another vehicle for Cunningham to scream doom, gloom, and Detroit if Cranley, Murray, Smitherman aren't elected. Tom Luken's comments were all over the place. Sad really. A few choice (paraphrased) ones: Chris Bortz is the father of the streetcar and the voters kicked him out because of it... The voters are pretty wise on these things! We won't have it (streetcar) until 2016. That's four years away. They are starting on Elm St. because it doesn't get a whole lot of traffic. Why? Beause if they started on Fountain Square people would be up in arms because they are going to block all the traffic and cause an impass. This (today's rail installation) is just a token thing where they'll do a few things before this election and then sit around again for another three years until they're going to put the rest of the construction in.

  3. EXCLUSIVE: Allegiant Air to start flights at CVG, not Lunken Low-cost carrier Allegiant Air is expected to announce Tuesday it will start flights at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport – bringing another discount airline to the region and ending a growing controversy over Allegiant’s interest in Lunken Airport, The Enquirer has learned. It’s uncertain where the popular, Las Vegas-based vacation airline will fly to out of CVG, but Allegiant Air had been considering launching two flights a week to Orlando, Fla., out of Lunken. Most of Allegiant’s flights from Midwest and nearby cities – including Columbus and Lexington, Ky. – connect to Florida destinations. CVG has called a 10 a.m. Tuesday press conference. CVG and Allegiant officials declined comment. Cont

  14. That $5-$10M number came from Cunningham after his call with John. Prior to his discussion with John, Mike Allen was on and had this (among other things) to say: ...As a citizen, I hope the people that were charged with studying this and thinking about it did their homework, because it's going to happen. I mean it's too late to stop it now, and it has been a success in other cities... Then he and Cunningham complained that it doesn't go up to UC or to the casino... But Allen did finish with "I think people need to stop being obstructionist about it because it's too late."

  17. EXCLUSIVE: First look at streetcar's modern design The rail cars that will run on Cincinnati’s streetcar route are expected to have a streamlined, modern design – with a nod to the past. 18. Was in Sacramento a couple years back and I enjoyed: Walking through the Capitol grounds; Walk along K street from the Convention Center to Old Sacramento. Several breweries in the area including a Pyramid Brew Pub and the River City Brewing Company. The latter was a little odd as it's in a outdoor shopping mall. Also along this stretch is Pizza Rock which was tasty; There is a lot to see in Old Sacramento including The Delta King, California State Railroad Museum, Sacramento History Museum; Had some good beers at Brew It Up Brewery & Grill

  25. Airport chief: Allegiant at Lunken 'not even close to a done deal' Chris Wetterich - Staff reporter - Cincinnati Business Courier While Allegiant Air has told him it would like to be up and running at Lunken Airport by late November, airport manager Fred Anderton said the earliest a necessary environmental impact study could be finished would be in May. “We might be able to get it out by May or June, but that would be if all the stars lined up, which I never expect,” he said. “If that happens, I’ll be down at the casino playing roulette.” The Cincinnati Enquirer reported today that Allegiant wants to start flying from Lunken on Nov. 29. Anderton said he told Federal Aviation Administration officials that in a conference call about the environmental study but also noted the likely length of time a study would take. Cont
