Norwood: Development and News
Had WKRC 6PM news on last night and traffic was the concern of area (Cincinnati) residents. The developers want traffic. "It will be a big change from the overgrown island tucked between I-71 and Anderson's other Rookwood projects. Across the street, some Oakley residents on Arbor, Hyde Park and Atlantic are worried about traffic cutting through their neighborhood. They are working on a plan. "We're looking at making dead ends that would be instead of a cul-de-sac. Working with the city of Cincinnati Department of Transportation and city council to find the appropriate way to do that." With the neighbors in Cincinnati and the development in Norwood, it will take some cooperation. That was promised today. "We all worked together to make this happen like we have on other projects. The fact of the matter is we've got to work together to make it work and it will." Anderson says traffic is the name of the game. They want traffic to make it viable. But he says they've been doing traffic studies here for 10 years....and he's confident it will work." Full report

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Cygnus replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentSeafood restaurant to open in OTR in July A new urban fish shack and oyster bar, The Anchor, will sail into Over-the-Rhine this summer. Owner and chef Derek dos Anjos said he will open the seafood restaurant in mid-July at 1401 Race St., across from the soon-to-be renovated Washington Park in Over-the-Rhine. For his menu, dos Anjos will take inspiration from East Coast seafood shacks and his own background: The Wilmington native and 17-year restaurant veteran was part owner of Brooklyn Fish Camp in Brooklyn, N.Y., before he and his wife, Jocelyn, a Clifton native, moved back to Cincinnati with their two young children last year. At The Anchor, he plans to serve lobster rolls, whole fish, shrimp dishes, clam chowder, fresh oysters and more. Seafood will mostly be sourced from Blue Fin of Louisville, which will fly it in daily and truck it to the restaurant, dos Anjos said. Cont

InBetween is doing a decent lunch hour with the addition of Great American Tower workers. It's funny to see that a majority of people choose to sit on the expansion side or outdoors. They really need to remodel their original space... I'm sure they'll do their normal Opening Day business, but may suffer on normal game days with the CRG now open and priced at $10. Also, they were closed the Saturday nights of the Big East Final and March Madness Round 3. Holy Grain on the other hand was packed.

I've seen Evans Landscaping cutting down and replacing tress around Fountain Square. Doubt this is Streetcar related. Just posted a pic on the Fort Washington Way Cap Project thread. I'm speculating it's for bridge maintenance.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
Wow... Joey Votto, Reds agree to 10 year extension First baseman Joey Votto has agreed to a 10-year, $225 extension with the Cincinnati Reds, the USA Today reported Monday. Earlier Monday, Votto declined to get into specifics when asked how close the two sides were to completing a deal. "Ask Walt about that," Votto said, referring to general manager Walt Jocketty, after Monday's 2-1 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Cont

Cincinnati: Bicycling Developments and News
Near unanimous Cincy Council wants Riverside project to proceed Eight Cincinnati Council Members are ready to tell city administrators not to delay a plan to reconfigure Riverside Drive in the East End to include bicycle lanes. City transportation officials suggested postponing the work for at least a year while I-471 in Northern Kentucky undergoes major reconstruction. Those officials said they believe eastside commuters will use Kellogg and Riverside Drive as an alternate route to avoid 471. Resident Richard Hunt told City Council Wednesday the bicycle project should not be placed on hold. Cont

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
City considers Eden Park station for micro-brewery The city of Cincinnati is investigating whether a 118-year-old red brick pump station and water tower behind Krohn Conservatory could be sold and converted to a micro-brewery. A pair of developers recently approached the city to redevelop the 7,000-square-foot property, which was designed by renowned architect Samuel Hannaford to enhance the park landscape. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places. The city declined to share the developers’ names, but minutes from an East End Area Council meeting said father and son Jack and Bryon Martin were spearheading the project on Martin Drive. Jack Martin retired from the city’s transportation department in recent years. He is an architect. Cont
