Nielsen set to move to Chiquita Center Market research firm to leave RiverCenter space It looks like Covington is about to get the second half of a double whammy. Nielsen has told its roughly 500 Covington employees that they will relocate to downtown Cincinnati’s Chiquita Center by Jan. 1. A Nielsen employee, who requested anonymity, said employees were told this week that the global market research company will occupy floors nine through 12 at the 29-story office tower at 250 E. Fifth St. Nielsen officials declined comment. A Nielsen relocation comes on the heels of a Sept. 19 announcement that Omnicare Inc. will move nearly 500 employees to the Atrium One building on Fourth Street. Omnicare and Nielsen are both tenants at Corporex Cos.’ RiverCenter complex. Corporex executive Tom Banta said he has not been notified of the move. He added that Nielsen has two years left on its lease. Cont (Premium Content from Business Courier)

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Guest Column: Could the streetcar be the GTO of public transportation? Written by Jim Grawe (co-founder of the Covedale Neighborhood Association) Few subjects cause more spirited debate than the proposed streetcar. Those opposed like to say, "The city should be run like a business! We don't need a streetcar! Who's going to ride it? Why go to the expense of building it when buses work well enough? Why not make a bus look like a streetcar?" To me, having lived on the conservative West Side my entire life, this practical viewpoint has merit. Besides, I'm a suburbanite, and a "car guy" - a proud owner of a 1966 Pontiac GTO - so it's hard for me to identify with the concept of public transportation, much less understand its value as an economic generator. But, as I reflect on the origin of the GTO, I wonder, "Could the streetcar be the GTO of public transportation?" Cont

Four Republican councilmembers are proposing an ordinance to stop $28 million in bonds from being issued, so those debt payments can go to repairing roads and streets in the city. The councilmembers, Leslie Ghiz, Anne Murray, Wayne Lippert and Charles Winburn, say as much as $2 million in additional road repairs can be made if the bond issue for the streetcar was scrapped Cont
