Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
Casino seeks to swap parking for land By Alexander Coolidge • [email protected] • December 15, 2010 DOWNTOWN - Developers of Cincinnati's future casino have offered Hamilton County employees the daytime use of 300 parking spaces in their garage in exchange for a 160-spot parking lot in front of their building site. Rock Gaming plans to redevelop the triangle-shaped land - between Broadway, Eggleston Avenue and Reading Road - into a park-like area open to the public that would host outdoor events and provide some green space in front of the casino's main entrance. Casino officials say it would improve the visual appeal around the casino in place of a parking lot and serve as a buffer between the casino and the county jail. "We want to incorporate that space into the development footprint by transforming it into an urban plaza," said spokeswoman Jennifer Kulczycki. "It would also be a good entry point into the casino's main entrance on Broadway." Casino officials have also asked the city to consider closing Broadway between Reading and Eggleston to improve pedestrian access between the 0.8-acre-plot and the casino.

Little did he know it was his lucky day. Allan, a vice president at Allan Frye Coleman and Associates in Cincinnati, was the one-millionth customer at the downtown Ingredients. And that won him a $250 gift card to the restaurant, a complimentary one-night stay at the Westin Cincinnati and a commemorative apron. And, Wayne Bodington, general manager of the Westin, and Kim Roberts, general manager of Ingredients, purchased Allan’s lunch.

You won't be able to see from video/pictures, but if you walk either side of Mehring Way you'll see (what I believe is called) hardboard creating squares in the concrete. These can be jackhammered out and replaced with tress, all the while not damaging the rest of the sidewalk.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
The serenading worked... No strings for Banks loan Developers of The Banks likely will get a $2.75 million loan from the city of Cincinnati to lure the first retail tenant to the riverfront development – with no strings attached. The City Council’s finance committee on Monday approved the loan, without restrictions imposed last week that would have accelerated the project’s construction timetable.

Toby Keith serenades City Council... Cincinnati City Council may revise position on Banks loan Business Courier - by Lucy May and Dan Monk Date: Thursday, December 2, 2010, 2:53pm EST The Banks riverfront development risks losing its lead tenant if Cincinnati City Council doesn’t act quickly, according to the top developer for the project. And Cincinnati City Councilman Charlie Winburn said members of council are working on a solution. Council voted Wednesday to approve a loan of $2.75 million to the Atlanta-based development team of Carter and The Dawson Co. on the condition that the developers speed up the time table to build out The Banks, the long-awaited billion-dollar project on the city’s central riverfront. Hamilton County commissioners approved a loan for the same amount, contingent on council’s approval. But county commissioners didn’t include any requirements to speed up the development.

Banks: Loan clause jeopardizes leases By Lisa Bernard-Kuhn • [email protected] • December 1, 2010 DOWNTOWN - Developers of The Banks riverfront project say a deal to sign the first retail tenant is in jeopardy following actions taken by the Cincinnati City Council Wednesday. The council unanimously approved a $2.75 million loan Wednesday aimed at helping lure retailers to The Banks. But those dollars will be made available only if developers agree to speed up the start date for the project's next phase to May 23, 2012 - one full year ahead of schedule. The move "flies in the face of what everyone is trying to accomplish," said Trent Germano, vice chair of Atlanta-based Carter, which has teamed with The Dawson Co. as lead developer for the retail, residential and office spaces at The Banks.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Good article.. even if it is about the mistake by the lake! ESPN Outside The Lines: Believeland: A proud city forgets "The Player That Left" and remembers what it used to be CLEVELAND -- There is a burly, angry man with a Chief Wahoo tattoo on the inside of his left forearm, and he knows I work for ESPN. That makes me the devil. We are standing inside the Cleveland Cavaliers locker room not long after their first game without LeBron James. The guy's name is Scott Raab, and besides being a native Clevelander, he's also one of America's best writers. His current project? A book that is part recount of James' breakup with the town and part meditation on the misery that comes with loving this place and its teams. Except he doesn't call him James. He calls him The Whore of Akron. You obviously see what's coming next.

More Challenges Ahead For Streetcar Plan BY BARRY M. HORSTMAN • [email protected] • NOVEMBER 28, 2010 The Cincinnati streetcar, the controversial $128 million plan that has traveled a bumpy path from the start, faces more potential rocky spots in 2011, including a possible second attempt to derail it on the ballot. The local NAACP, which led the push for an unsuccessful 2009 charter amendment that would have effectively killed the streetcar by requiring public votes on future passenger rail projects, is considering another ballot measure next year aimed at achieving the same goal.
