  1. Was this debate televised, recorded, and/or transcripts available?
  2. Has yet to be decided... Recent article on the subject: http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20100415/BIZ01/4150358/
  3. I read somewhere recently that Smitherman was moving forward with his "Mayor Impeachment" initiative... But on Nov. 5th last year, he was quoted as saying "Smitherman is planning a Mayor recall ballot initiative as well as a streetcar ballot initiative for 2010." in this article (no longer available for free).
  4. If/When either of you get to the top, if you don't mind, ask where the beams are that the Construction Team and Great American employees signed. Photos if possible!
  5. Are we sure about that?? "Luken, meanwhile, says he plans to circulate petitions to place the streetcar issue on the November ballot."
  6. Capping Fort Washington Way would be a huge bonus! Parking garage, streets ok'ed for Banks Hamilton County Commissioners on Wednesday approved a $52.2 million construction budget for the next phase of The Banks riverfront project - a parking garage and some new streets. They also got an update on the apparent rosy financial picture of the project so far. Things have been going so well financially that the more than $800 million mixed-use project appears to be tracking more than $10 million under budget so far, according to commissioners and John Deatrick, the project manager.
  7. This Cincinnati.com article talks about how with The Banks currently over $10M under budget, Commissioners Todd Portune suggested it could be put toward the cost of capping Fort Washington Way.

HAHAHAHA! Not gonna happen. Think Chicago can afford James? Calipari might be headed there...
  9. Well... we've made it to Fark: Cincinnati to bring back streetcars. There's a dress code to ride: Men must wear a suit with a fedora, and dames can't wear pants P.S. you probably don't want to read the comments...
  10. ^Remember, they choose not to include a 13th floor... :wtf:
  11. The Enquirer is quick on their "Editorial"... Streetcar gets the votes; where's the plan? Monday's 6-2 vote by the Cincinnati City Council Finance Committee to approve $64 million in bonds, taken after some heated and often confusing discussion, marks a big step forward for the city's proposed streetcar system. It removes some of the drama from the debate on the $128 million project - debate that had devolved in recent days into discussion of council members' ethical conflicts and softball injuries, the extent of mayoral arm-twisting, and whether Cincinnati is sending the "right signal" to Washington. But it doesn't remove the concerns that Cincinnatians - and their elected officials - ought to have about the project. Cont.
  12. At Council meeting now. Bortz just gave an interview to the tv stations... couldn't hear it though.
  13. Because Tom Luken has lived here almost 85 years?
  14. Cincinnati police officers will relocate to Banks development The city of Cincinnati will move about 50 police officers to a new welcome center at the Banks riverfront development in a move that signals the first step in a new policing model for downtown. The officers are those assigned to the Downtown Services and Special Events units and are responsible for policing downtown and the many special events that take place in the city. Plans call for a 4,100 square-foot space with a glass facade that is staffed around the clock, said City Manager Milton Dohoney. Cont.
  15. Leave it to the Enquirer to spell "Archaeological" incorrectly (both in the title and in the link). Cool article either way. Went and visited this just as they were starting. You can just imagine the structures that sat there...
  16. Watching them put this together is knee weakening

Who aired it? From what I've heard, there's no formal opposition to Issue 2. It's being supported by the City of Columbus, Franklin County, Penn National (the Casino Developer) and both Strickland and Kaisch. Are you sure that TV ad was against? I was wondering the same thing. Fairly certain it was against, but I only saw it once and really didn't pay that much attention. I did get a Yes on 2 flyer in the mail yesterday. My sentiments as well.
  18. The all mighty Enquirer is finally on this one! Only 3 days behind... Latest casino sketch released

Don't know. Suppose it could keep going back to the polls until it passes - just like the pro-gaming forces did. But why would voters in other cities care where the Columbus casino is located? So the vote is tomorrow. What's the feeling in Columbus? I've seen a grand total of one tv ad in Cincinnati. It was against moving the location. I'm pretty sure that the few people here voting tomorrow will have no idea what this is about.

    Lasik requires a yearly check-up...
  21. I'm unable to "Recommend" the article. I've clicked and clicked. Nothing. The Enquirer really wants to keep this buried...
  22. While the awning is still there, this location is indeed closed.
