  1. And it would sure beat sitting in the parking lot that is Kellogg Avenue and the costs of parking.
  2. Can I just say that OTR was alive last night during Bockfest? I went down around 6 and Taste of Belgium was packed, traffic was a little crazy down there and all the businesses were all lit up and looked warm and inviting. It was really nice to see. It is nice to see everytime I am there.
  3. So they really are starting construction? Traffic on Ridge is a mess all the time. Maybe this will help alleviate some of it. The stretch of Ridge just north of Highland is depressing. They never built Ridge Pointe on the site of the old KMart and now the Home Emporium is gone. It makes the area look worse than it actually is. Anyways I am excited they are remodeling the Target down by Oakley Station. I got worried that when they opened the one in Blue Ash that it would be left to become decrepit and run down. Maybe Target doesn't subscribe to the Walmart model?
  4. Egads. Its like those text polls on the local newscasts. Does the moon being out mean that night is actually happening? Yes No :-P

I am technically stuck here because there wasn't anything job wise in my home town. But I think I am pretty content with where I am at. It is nice to be able to live in the city here and the parks and communities are very nice in Cincinnati. Having lived in a couple of major cities, I do wish there was better public transportation. I will be honest, I hate driving. I like biking and walking. I do a whole lot of driving here.
  6. I didn't think about the topography effect on the roads, but that interchange from 75 south to 74 west is a pretty good example. There are way too many freeways to maintain in the Detroit area. It seems that 696 ( a bigger version of Reagan Hwy) has been constantly under construction since it was built. Then you have some sections of freeway (like I 96 and I 94) that have needed reconstruction for decades that just keep getting band aids. At least the pothole patrol makes the rounds much more often and quickly here.
  7. Great! Thanks...I hopefully will pick a day that's not too busy.

I agree with the mega malls comment. I would like to go to Kenwood more often but the fact that it takes me 20 minutes (sometimes more) to actually park and get in the mall. It's not enjoyable at all. They do have a couple places that you can walk right into, but it is still a pain.
  9. Is there decent parking at the new Adriatico's? I have been wanting to go there but I really really am bad at parallel parking.
  10. I probably have little to add to this discussion, however I have an observation: this area has a little over half the population of the metro area that I am from. Many times the traffic here is worse than there. I don't know how that's possible seeing as how there are more people up there. Doesn't only 20% of the total budget for federal transportation go to mass transit?
  11. Like the picture above shows, Portland's utilities are not 8 feet. I was just there 3 weeks ago and I can confirm that. Maybe Duke should focus on other stuff...like why I pay higher rates now and my neighborhood has brownouts consistently throughout the year. Its always nice to come home from work and see that the power has been out for several hours when its 95 degrees out. :shoot: #bittercustomer Is the 17th a Friday or Saturday...because I will be there if so.
  12. Ugh...I am a lurker but I hate when setbacks happen like this. I am trying to be optimistic but I feel like there is always something in the way of this making more progress. I am frustrated by this news.

Sega Saturn was terrible. Only console I have ever returned (and I have a lot of them). Anyways, I am pretty close to cutting cable but I cannot get live sporting events. The only reason I still have cable is because of Big Ten Network.
  14. I miss taking the Wolverine home when I lived in Chicago. It was a nice way to get home and not worry about driving 6 hours (especially in wintry weather). The last train left CUS right after I got out of work and I could just sit back and relax. I can't wait to see how fast the whole trip is when the rest of the line is upgraded further east.
  15. Grammer's is still in business. It is at Liberty and Walnut.

I am trying to avoid Cityville...I know it will be another game to suck up my time, especially since it seems to look like SimCity.

My yard and walk is becoming an ice rink. I salted twice already and it hasn't really made a difference. Somehow my bowling league isn't cancelled...the roads must be better than what I see.
  18. Just a gripe, but why some of these maps show only connecting routes to get to Detroit is annoying to me. Why do you have to go to Cleveland or Chicago just to get to Detroit? That takes you hours out of the way. There are quite a few miles of track that run parallel to 75 as you drive north towards Lima/Toledo. Also - didn't there used to be a train that went between Detroit and points in the South at one point in time? To the person who was talking about the Chicago to Quincy and Carbondale inclusion. I wonder if that is because of the existing Illinois routes on Amtrak?
  19. There are signs indicating the project now on the building that is across the street from the church and directly behind Target.
  20. All i could tell was they were taking down the old Emergency Medical Center. It seemed surgical in the sense that they were only working on that building, so i dont know if they others are in line or what exactly. Yes I walked by this yesterday. It looks like they are only demo-ing the medical center...the buildings to the right didn't look like they were a part of it. Although, the one right next to it (Lindemans or something?) was looking pretty sorry. It was depressing to watch.
  21. Yes they are currently advertising a Monday night music event.

I second Northern Lower Michigan. M 22 is probably one my most favorite Scenic drives. It touches many areas and the coast line is beautiful. Also, Harbor Springs, Petoskey...Actually any place on the west side of Michigan is nice in the summer.
  23. I miss the Metra a lot. I stare longingly at the track that comes near my neighborhood and wish it had a station.
  24. I haven't tried one yet, most of my PT at the balance clinic was walking over obstacles and balance ball stuff. My hand eye coordination had to be taught all over again. Thanks for the suggestion, I will give that a try. I didn't even think of that.

Yeah, we have some issues of our own...mainly my favorite driving maneuver of all time the "5 lane change in 5 seconds" move. Also called "The Oh $#!t I need to get off this exit right now" move. I love watching people cut across 5 lanes on 75 from the far left lane to the exit ramp with no turn signal and even drive on the median and grass on the side of the freeway to get on that exit ramp. Oh and tailgating going 85 in the right lane...that would be another one of the Detroit issues :D At least I am being honest.
