What, if you have one, is your workout routine?
I do Wii fit and use a website that generates routines for me. I used to run all the time, but since I had a balance disorder in 2009 its been incredibly hard to get back into a workout routine. I can barely walk on a treadmill without feeling like falling over. I am trying to lose 4 inches and 15-17 lbs total, but my goal is about 2-4 lbs a month. If anyone has some good cardio recommendations that don't involve lots of head movement I will gladly take them. Currently I do yoga and walk on a treadmill 2-3x a week. I got really weak when my balance went out of whack because I could not exercise anymore...it made me dizzy and sick. Most of my weight gain over the past year has been from carbs. When I was dizzy all I could eat was plain pasta, bread, yogurt and rice. So yeah, it messed me up good. Speaking of mashed potatoes and noodles...having that piled up together with beef tips and gravy is like comfort food x 1000 to me. I probably gained 2 lbs from just thinking about eating it.

Off Topic
What is up with people in Cincinnati blowing red lights when the light changed when they were more than 20 yards from the light? I mean not even stopping...just kind of saying "Whatever its good". I saw it again for the 4th time this week. One of these times I am going to see someone get T boned. Ugh.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
Windsor is easy to get to from the states and has a lower legal age limit for gambling (19 v 21) Yes, when I was growing up in Detroit....we would always head over to Windsor...well at the time it was Casino Windsor, but you could go and gamble and drink...and before the casinos in Detroit opened everyone went there. I have been wanting to check out how ridiculous the place is now that its Caesars, because it was pretty nice even before that. Like I said...I can only hope that is is a classy joint a la MGM Grand...and not some cheesy Argosy looking place with 90 year old gamblers wheeling around oxygen tanks.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
I like the building...it looks awesome at night and at different times of day...I just don't like the top of it, especially when I drive in during the morning...it looks....unfinished up there. It looked great on Saturday night...with the reds game going on, and the blimp flying around...downtown looked awesome...and so did QCS....all the lights and buildings.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Holiday Inn
I hate that parking garage in the #2 picture above that UncleRando posted. Its so crappy looking and out of place.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
It better be on par with the real Caesars. At least it won't be a crappy Riverboat. MGM Grand Detroit is pretty good for a non Vegas casino. Hollywood and other casinos are so blah.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
With the birdcage, it just looks like a regular glassy modern building with a hot mess of metal on top. Nothing queenly about it all. I honestly thought they were going to enclose it. Blecch.

Your Technology footprint
I have every single video game console from 1977 on except: Sega Saturn (sold it), Sega Master System (it died), Dreamcast (was obsolete by the time I could buy it) and an Odyssey, but I have all the others. I want an Atari 5200. I love records, and record players. I have a laptop and a desktop. I have 3 MP3 Players and random computer parts/half computers around the house. Eventually I want a netbook and a media center/computer for my TV. I love love love gadgets.

UrbanOhio Parents & Families
I used to sleep in a cardboard box when I was really little (like infant/toddler) when my family would go camping in our trailer. A crib wouldn't fit in the trailer...so my mom got a box and put pillows and stuff in and made me a bed. That thing was awesome and then I apparently didn't want to go back to my crib after camping. Ha ha. Refrigerator boxes make the best toys/fort/play structure.

Detroit: Developments and News
That library is beautiful. I always like to drive past it when I am in the area. Thank you for starting this thread. It is nice to see some positive from back home.

Cincinnati: Oakley - Oakley Square Renovation
I went to Columbus for the day yesterday...the area I was in...had alleys and all the utilities were along the alley. I liked that, I wish Cincinnati didn't have it like this. It also is a problem in my neighborhood because they cut the trees all funny around the lines. They are trying to plant more trees on the street, but then Duke comes and hacks them all apart when they are only a few years old. Then the trees look half gutted or end up growing funny looking as they mature.

Cincinnati: Oakley - Oakley Square Renovation
Wow the poles in the first link are terrible. I hope that is not too residential. Ugh.

Cincinnati: Oakley - Oakley Square Renovation
Back home in Michigan all the utilities are in the back of the lots, not the front. This is in a lot of places, City of Detroit and suburbs. Is it because there are not a lot of alleys in Cincinnati? I am guessing that is how the "rear utilities" got started up north? Yeah the power lines in front of my house are so ugly. I wish they ran across the rear. Sigh.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I hate I 71. I hate all of the road construction by my house. I can't wait until the Kennedy Connector is done. I hate driving...I miss being able to walk and commute by rail. I am going to Portland in the fall and I am excited at being able to check out their streetcar system.

Social media poll (twitter, facebook, etc.)
I use Facebook...but moving more towards Twitter. Too many people that I am friends with list their/our employer and I like my facebook to be anonymous and let me post what I feel. Twitter is much better for that. I am addicted to Mafia Wars on FB though.

Are you a textaholic?
I text quite a bit, especially now that I got an Android phone with a full slide out qwerty keyboard. The keys are a good size too. My sister and I introduced my mom to texting and now that's all she does nonstop now. My dad however, he is still figuring out how to use his 5 year old camera phone.

The Great Home Renovation, Remodeling and Decorating Thread
I will take some photos this weekend. This bathroom also has an angled ceiling above the tub. I think only children could stand in it and take a shower. Its craftsman style...hopefully there is someone around here that won't charge an arm and leg.

The Great Home Renovation, Remodeling and Decorating Thread
Does anybody know of a tile place in Cincinnati that specializes in older tile patterns, or matching old tile patterns? I have one wall in my guest bathroom tub that is just drywall and the other 2 are tile. The wall gets wet anytime the tub is used. Also, would marine paint suffice on this wall if I can't find any place that has similar tile to what is already there? The tiles are 1.5" x 0.34". Thanks in advance.

Pet Peeves!
Today's pet peeve: People who own a home but don't live in it, and then take really poor care of the house. This house has clearly been vacant for 2 years, and this person does not care for the yard. I have put in 2 service calls to the city about it. How long does it normally take Cincinnati to respond to something like this? Its been 2 weeks, and with the rain, that person's yard looks like a wheat field. They really don't live there, but in West Chester. I think they bought the house, attempted to flip it, and then are holding onto it until they get the money they want. Ok that is fine, but freaking come maintain your property once in awhile. I mean really, not once in 2 years have I seen anyone there. The house's roof looks like its in poor shape, and this idiot could have sold the house already to someone who would take care of it and live in it. Ugh.

Green streets
That sounds like it would be great for a driveway. Ours is a huge mess right now are we are facing the fact that it will have to be done eventually...we have potholes for crying out loud.

Cincinnati: Oakley: Oakley Station
They boarded up all the homes on Ibsen near Ridge. I thought they were not going to get rid of those homes? Also a lot of tear down occurring behind the buildings along Ridge between Ibsen and Barrow. Also on Duck Creek there is a lot of tree removal and temporary work roads in various places on the hillside.

Cincinnati optimism...almost surreal!
I hate the Enquirer comments. "I only drive downtown for Reds games with my kids and then I get out". What is it about downtown that people think is unsafe? Maybe its because I grew up in the Detroit area....OTR is not as scary as some places on Detroit's east side...so maybe I just compare the two too much. But I don't understand it. I was training a new person at work and all these people kept telling her not to "stray too far from Mt. Adams". Then she asked me what was so dangerous about downtown and OTR. People make it sound like there are knifefights and rolling gun battles every hour on the hour. Sometimes I get pissed at people and say they have no idea what the meaning of dangerous is.

The Gardening Thread
Are Peat pots like those seed starting kits? The ones I have breakdown in the soil so I can plant them into my garden along with the dirt (I don't have to take them out). They are pretty good about not falling apart. I also put little bits of newspaper in the bottom of each little area so they can keep water and soil better. I am interested in these heating pads, where did you get them? I have beans that are sprouted and about 5 inches tall. The carrots and cucumbers are a little shorter, but I have sprouted seeds, which is way better than last time. I was going to plant everything outside this weekend but with it being cold tonight and last night...I am not sure I should put them in the ground this weekend. According to OSU Extension the last frost in Cincinnati is April 15th. Has anyone started planting vegetables or perennials already? How difficult is it to grow lettuce? I have not tried that. I would love to grow my own vegetables year round, but I don't think that would be possible unless I had a set up somewhere in my house. Those greenhouse things look really expensive.
