Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
The benefit of the Olympics is that it built momentum behind city progress and built the foundation for alot of what we see now but weak hearted politicians didn't move the masses. This is partially a failure of our 2 year election process but largely a failure of the types of people that have occupied the council seats over the last few years.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Artistry
God do I wish these buildings were taller only 15 stories. I wish they were at least 20, preferably 30.

Cincinnati - Tour the City on the Metro
Hey if anyone is interested I occasionally like to go on tours of the area by Metro. I'm planning on going to Addyston for a few hours next Saturday morning so if anyone has free time it might be worth doing. I haven't been to Addyston since I don't know when so that's pretty much why I picked it and I saw a bus coming from there the after getting off work.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
My honest opinion is that this a turn the corner project. As I've seen more and more projects like this I'm alot less impressed with this project than I was before but the symbolism of getting this done and of course done right is as important as anything.

Mariemont does not get enough press.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
Illuminations should begin soon to be honest. I would wait on a 2nd tower until Illuminations is built. Hopefully there is some scaping around there to beautify the area a little.

Cincinnati: Downtown - The McAlpin
^The restaurants above are a little more family friendly than Rock Bottom so it'll be good for families. There are alot of options available. I kind of hope that this place had a larger footprint that could be converted to a nice private school.

What do you get on your burrito?
At Kaldi's I get their mushrooms and artichoke and everywhere else I usually get a fajita instead whenever I'm doing tex mex.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Weedrose replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentYeah new hours. Mythos is in a great location for lunch but it might be a little tough for dinner without a lot of promotion and I mean alot of promotion (tie ins with the hotels, some sandwhich boards, and condo tie ins to say the least)

I hope they then bring this to downtown.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
^^If it were residential it wouldn't be at $150K for a building with it's history I would say that $350K wouldn't be out of the question. I know that downtown desperately needs cheaper condos but this is just my opinion I also would like to see the building adapted for office space and much of the outside footprint reclaimed for commercial space.

Cincinnati: Downtown - The McAlpin
Definitely agree with that chain restaurants have a better chance being open till 11PM or so like Rock Bottom, Palomino's , McCormick's etc then alot of other establishment and they are a known commodity which is good for the less adventurous. This would be a great spot for a TGIF, Applebees. or some other mid priced restaurant. As for the grocery store idea I would think that a small format store could work but my general thoughts are that downtown living is all about conveniece and flexibility so I wouldn't have any problem with going to a few different stores to get my things, mostly I prefer to eat vegetables, fish, grains, and I'm light on the meat not withstanding chicken.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Weedrose replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentFresh looks great from the outside but there hours suck. I walk pass there on the way to work and they have a great highly visible location but they have the worst hours and they seem to lack that hustle. Incentives and promotions can work to build brand loyalty; they need to indulge.

The truth is that the leasers just dont care.

Cincinnati: Retail News
Could be very powerful but with multiple initiatives going on to enhance the city I could see this being buried under the weight of inaction.

CVG: Delta and Comair news
It'll shake out with a lot of short term pain, complaining , and despair:)

CVG: Delta and Comair news
It's profitable because they charge such damn high prices and because of the company's in the area that have to book through CVG. Damn I woke up this morning and I was just thinking it would be nice to go to Chicago for the weekend. Too bad I can't get a hookup like my friend who works at Delta and flies for the equivalent of I believe $40 to go to Europe.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Weedrose replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentI can't say there are too many restaurants downtown. When we get a McDonalds, Burger King and Fatburger I'll be happy. No really on the first two. Downtown has great restaurants but if it wants to further that synergy give people a few more approachable choices and that'll be nice. Give me at least a McDonald's I'd definitely go to it at least every 9-12 weeks:). Downtown probably needs a smaller park or some renovations of an existing space to increase playground space for children.

Cincinnati: Hillside Scenic Views
Bill Butler created a wall on the Riverfront that destroyed the old views of the skyline that were previously apart of the area. Building on the hillsides is a short sighted move. The area should be maximized for it's views by strategically limitiing development and maximizing access to the areas most beautiful parts by creating access points, rerouting roads, and creating and maintaing streets.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: Old St. George Redevelopment
I actually like the look of the property with the burned out steeples, it looks fascinating. It's undeniably sad though for the history of the city. Contrast the ugly stale structures that as if by Stalin's design create conformity from which there was previously beautiful variation.

Cincinnati: Madisonville: Development and News
Okay now we have another contender in there with a theatre project. A smaller footprint ethnic or specialized theatre house (you choose the movie) could work but dang it if this project doesn't sound just like the Oakley project and they're essentially next door. Look the developers around here should start looking at creative specialization for example ethnic targetted storefronts are lacking in this area and an urban ethnic concept would do well in that area considering it's proximity to the middle class multiracial community (asian, african american, some hispanic) that live near there in Madisonville, Kennedy Heights etc. Also by the way I hope that Kenwood can further upscale itself and attract some of the specialized boutique concepts (italian, french) or at least attract some affordable chic concepts like Zara or H&M or Esprit. The point that I'm trying to make is that you have way too many good sights that aren't leased to complement the area or operate a distinct proposition.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
I'm looking forward to the skyline being rewritten over the next 20 years. I would love to see a few more towers that create an interesting composition for our downtown.

Cincinnati: Oakley: Oakley Station
Now if you payed special attention then you saw that a theatre will be housed there so what will happen to the Showcase Cinemas in Bond Hill? That spot is now incredibly important you've got great access to the highway and great visibility; perhaps housing?

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Really if someone trying to get this project done can't answer these questions then they aren't worth a da*n. There are going to be all sorts of questions regarding this streetcar so essentially these types of questions are going to have to be answered. Some of the questions are stupid but others will help in crafting a good argument that will support structure for this initiative.
