Newport, KY: Ovation
^This is much more realistic for a company like Corporex then the hype that was sold earlier this year.

Glad MacSchmick's was good. Has anyone heard anything about the Bella site or the Maisonette for that matter?

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
This'll happen but the original plan is gone.

Cincinnati: UC Grad Urban Planning program 4th in Midwest, 18th in Nation
Doesn't surprise me that the top 10 is mostly northeast.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Artistry
My friend works for the architects doing this project and he's putting a shitload of hours in to get this thing going. The finished project should look absolutely stunning.

Cincinnati: City Budget and Spending News & Discussion
I was robbed at gunpoint recently and from my point of view, additional cops masks the real problem. The city needs more investigators and some restructuring of the current system including revamping the way that patrols are done and paid for right now. And on a related issue city and county funding for services like medical/psychiatric care needs to be increased. Lack of psychiatric treatment is a key problem in the city's rougher neighborhoods; go to parts of OTR and you'll see a large demo who need help desperately.

^I wonder if this will be enjoyed by more than Indian Hill ilk.

Cincinnati: Census Challenge(s)
Measurement criteria mean little, the individual's perception of the situation matters much more. Cincinnati - Hate, Love, Apathetic. My home.

Sycamore Township: Kenwood Towne Centre
I'm sick to my stomach. I loved the Parisian in Kenwood. I hate it when management ruins a good store. I don't think a Nordstrom's will come to Kenwood as that Macy's is Federated's flaghsip Cincinnati property. Also, I don't think the footprint is right for a Nordstrom's but a good designer could make it work. If it were to happen Kenwood and Blue Ash would effectively be the toniest areas in the city within 5 years.

Cincinnati Public Schools: Development and News
^You focus on prevention strategies and getting kids who can 1. Read at the appropriate grade level 2. Do grade level math 3. Display social literacy This is boilerplate. This requires good primary education that understands that when talking about the social context of pass/fail respects and demolishes the socio-economic parameters that stymie child development. On the related point it requires people to give a crap about the well being of other families and the kids that they produce.

Dayton: Downtown: RiverScape RiverRun
It costs $10 MM while that's expensive I think everyone should've guessed that this wasn't going to be done on the cheap. It's too bad that the park district isn't going forward, this project could've helped revive interest in the town.

Cincinnati: Housing Market / Affordable Housing
Northern Kentucky's has problems with ethnic diversity, getting better (see some recent articles) but it still is lacking.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
It'll get worked out.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
it's the locationless worker phenomena, free to go wherever they want many workers are not tied down to a single place, look at condo development across the country and the hottest markets for yps aren't all Fortune 5 meccas. What would be a sin would be to have this nice development with little use beyond 6.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
A smaller version of the Kroger Marketplace store would work well on the site with all of the parking plus if the original planned residential base is kept up they'll have enough people. The magic number I've heard for people to a grocery store ~17,000:1 but if Kroger wants to make it happen they can.

Cincinnati: OTR: North Main Street Discussion
I definitely wasn't kidding. I can't think of any good strip club within miles of the city, the only good one I know of is Diamonds and that's a good drive for most people within the area. To Kendal's and The Last Don's point I agree that a strong residential base is needed for OTR as a whole and I hope to see 10,000 people in the area before long. I was thinking plainly of what's not being said often enough. I want strong independent establishments like hopefully Vinyl and Kaldi's to survive, further I want to see an influx of additional establishments like that to come in. My thoughts are that Main Street would do well to have a cornucopia of offerings. It has a strong "historical" commercial backing and it could definitely support businesses of this type. A Main Street location for a gentelman's club would be one of the best locations as most of the rest of OTR would likely contain low density mix use or high density residential. And fast food done right could integrate well into Main Street, I don't want to see the entire street qsr but one or two properly done would be ok.

Cincinnati: OTR: North Main Street Discussion
Couldn't find if one was already here but here it goes. We all know that Main Street has seen better times so if Main Street were healthier what would you like to see? Me I would like to see a massive strip club complex, three floors, 12 vip rooms. Additionally, I would want a McDonalds and a Deveroes superstore.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
To get back to the Freedom Center comments earlier, I would encourage everyone to attend and in addition to considering the ramifications of American slavery to also look into the Freedom Center's role in promoting freedom causes across the globe. They've done interesting work to promote the causes of freedom. Their limitation is that they've done a relatively poor job of promoting other freedom causes to the community. To compare, my key takeaway from the struggles of oppression that the Jewish community has had to face for centuries has been to consider modern extremism, religious and ethnic bigotry and what it means to be a just, equitable, human being. Similar lessons will be gained from anyone who opens their heart and embraces what the Freedom Center truly stands for.

^Yes, somebody with cache, an experienced financial wizard. Are the Banks Working Group meetings open to the public?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Retail/Parking infill at 4th & Main
That makes sense. I don't have a car anyway but I was thinking that a larger parking lot would do well to satisfy the whiners who say there isn't enough parking downtown.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Retail/Parking infill at 4th & Main
^Is this only going to be 5 stories? I had hoped that we could get something in the 10 - 15 range.
