Competitively and demographically Walnut is superior.
  2. There's something weird but also wonderful about converting churches into apartments.
  3. Would be great if they sold other books outside just texts.
  4. Perfect time for the new mayor to step in and in light of what may happen to Chiquita announce that the city's intention for the next four years will be to cultivate a strong small business environment, self-sustaining, that will in the end benefit the community, the city, and the region.
  5. If the idiots don't get it then here it is. Bring in businesses they pay tax dollars your area benefits. Don't bring them in, you die.
  6. Fault the owner for buying a crap building and doing nothing with it. People who do this are garbage.
  7. Depends on whose talking. My family has some experience tackling some of these issues back east in B-More and DC. The problem with most people and yes this is most definitely a problem is that many people in this metro are walking around the issue like it doesn't matter. Talk of the creative class, talk of gentrification really center upon that stretch in OTR and the West End. If the city wants to stop looking back to the good old days and blaze a path going forward then leadership cats (myself included) need to step up to the plate and set policy for that area. This is not a pussy operation, if you're talking about bringing change then you in many ways have to mirror the acts you despise; OTR is not "I'm cool, I'm urban, I'm urbane, I'm hip, I'm progressive" it's "I've got potential but right now I'm pretty messed up; I need a good old ass whupping, a talking to, and some older brothers who'll slap me around if I mess up again". I'm a big Cincinnati advocate but OTR is a mirror of our problems we can't sweep this under the rug and we can't daydream, look at the buildings and not ruminate on the people. OTR is a failure of leadership, thoughtful planning, the inability to create a shared vision and sheer laziness of many in the city. At this point if you are capable yet haven't committed thought or action to improving this area then you're most likely a part of the problem. The problems in that area are about to intensify the next mayor will have some significant issues to deal with. Check out the DVD Hood 2 Hood, if you need some perspective. Right now I'm doing a small part by helping some young men that come from that area and with the help of a corporate and individual donors teaching them developmental and leadership skills. Rest assured that my activity will ramp up going forward and hopefully you guys and gals (are there any) on this board will accordingly step up to the plate and be apart of the "person" change in that area.
  8. Greater Northern Kentucky area. It doesn't take much for cats to wild out and start thinking they've got the juice. But really hopefully this will satiate the onslaught of bullet and stab wounds that come to University.
  9. Beautiful it's vital that the educational fabric of UC strengthen, this is key.

    Those numbers fluxuate next year.
  11. It would be a great move to seize at the opportunity right now and crush Albertson's in it's largest markets, speed up the company's death.
  12. Like with anything start up a few personal relationships with people and things work a little faster.
  13. It's got a nice classic feel to it. It's appropriately bland without being appalling. I like it.
  14. "To link or not to link is the question" but in this case the answer is obvious. What will the riverfront look like in 10 years, Riverfront Commons and the Banks will be great additions but will these developments look like any "metro" USA. It seems like all of the second tier metros (everything outside the top 5 and top 10) have very similar plans for their waterway interests.
  15. Where were the pics of the homes taken?
  16. I had thought about buying one of those buildings.
  17. This project's completion will cementthe Norwood, Hyde Park, Oakley area as the hottest area in the city. Too much concentration to be stopped.
  18. The meeting already happened?
  19. Good points. 3CDC and the other principals in the project should have done more consulting with the businesses. However, the statement by Smitherman regarding the issues shows the type of laid back attitude that sucks dry some offices. If he saw a concern did he use his official powers and unofficial weight to better address those concerns? Those are real problems echoed by the businesses however at this point any more delay and this project would lose momentum. I hope a deal is reached with 5/3 perhaps some short term financing that the restaurants can pay back later.

That statement was not from Chris that was from his aunt & uncle.
  21. I like the Urban country club idea.
  22. It works better in Oakley. We can and will do both.
  23. Yes siree we're getting some movement on this project.
  24. It's nice seeing that OTR is thinning out the crap structures. Few of these buildings were true gems, some were just hollowed out shells.
