  1. Anyone knw the price points for these? Possible to get a 2 bedroom for $1200 a month?
  2. If they were smart they would try to salvage it and install it as art to accompany the new development.
  3. Great project - very much needed for the area.
  4. anyone know why Jersey Mike's closed? Bad business or likely to be moved?

Above all else - a regional economic plan. Needs to be much better coordination of job growth alongside the universites in the region.
  6. So...I read these articles and I'm personally effected by much of this...I've had several members of my family murdered including a close cousin in one of the more recent shootings. I've seen enough shootings and been around so much of it that it becomes expected, I can never divorce myself from the reality of this but I can do my part to effect as much change as possible. I hope that sense of responsibility and desire to help others exists for other members of the UO community.
  7. Does anyone know if the family is involved? The Procter or Gamble descendants?
  8. Does anyone have a sense of the demographic appeal of the Gateway Quarter? Families, singles, black, white? Is there a sense of a "neighborhood" developing there?
  9. What exactly are people looking for in terms of a grocery store downtown/otr? I think that other than thte hours most of the locations downtown for groceries aren't that bad. My friends hit up Kroger, Walgreens, and the market pretty often but the hours for Kroger aren't that great, that's my main complaint with the grocery options down there. There are some decent places to get wine, produce, etc already - not great yet but prety decent. For me, since I walk regularly 6 miles a day and the gf and I don't buy that much at any one time anyway it wouldn't be that bad. If I remember there are some bus stops pretty close to Kroger so is it that difficult to get to? Maybe there needs to be better cab access for those that live downtown - if you live downtown it's probably nothing more than a $5 - $7 cab ride back? Inquiring because when I move back I'm trying to see if it's really more problematic than it seems?
  10. Charlotte to Raleigh = young and vibrant and 3 C = Stale There's likely a little more political will there as well. I could deal with a scaled down project because something could grow but unless these lines terminate at subways these locations are awful. Can someone explain why cities that once could handle terminal stations near their downtowns can't any longer.
  11. I live in China so I'm well aware of what this country has that the US could use a little more of, vision. But only when it comes to infrastructure because there's a lot of other stuff this country has that the US would be well advised to not emulate. Also, let me chime in on the issue of security - train security can be just as tight as airline security and in the US it would probably be the case.
  12. I've had family involved in bringing Compstat to Cincinnati, it's been tried multiple times but it's never gotten the political support. CPD is okay with the system that they have.
  13. The buildings look sedate but I care considerably lessa bout the aesthetics than the leasing inside. The buildings are fine just bring the right tenant mix and that'll get me excited.

More work needs to be done in getting the working class to support public transport. For someone making $20 - 30k a good public transport system can save their arse.
  15. Sounds like that should be in one of the studies. Interesting finding.
  16. Not so great hours but there commitment to the area is refreshing. What happened to Mythos? or the other Mythos locations?
  17. Rally's!!! If you're in Beijing ever hit up Let's Burger and if you ever go to Shanghai definitely try Malone's. I'm partial to the one in Thumb Plaza because of the crazy amount of space, spread out and just dig in.
  18. ^Chicken and egg.
  19. This isn't likely to happen anytime soon.
  20. I've been wondering how often people go to Findlay and Krogers around the area for food. I don't live in Cincinnati any longer but I know that from living in an urban environment, I hit the store up every 2 days or so for mostly vegetables, 5 days for milk and other pershables, and about every 2 weeks for no pershables. Usually just buying enough for my girlfriend and I. I was thinking along those terms because I read the article you posted, UncleRando and several of the stores in there are absolutely huge and my thought was - are people still applying a "stock up" mentality when living in an urban environment or do people like the thought of a store that has every single thing that they could ever need. For me, most of my items like veggies, dairy etc aren't brand centric and other items like wine I go to specialty stores that I know carry my brand. For things like beer, chips etc I just go to a convenience store. And I personally don't eat alot of frozen items.
  21. We need to avoid straw men when discussing this issue and re-direct to our main points. My core belief is that locating social service agencies anywhere in the city is not a problem, given the right space and proper consideration of the community that will be affected, needs. With emphasis on consideration of a community's needs. I feel that re-entry programs need to be managed extremely carefully and require a high level of scrutiny, for example, sex offenders near schools are an issue. I feel that ex-offenders once released and especially, after undergoing treatment need to be given the right shot otherwise recidivism issues are likely to rise, that's been my experience from working with a few. On the merits of the project, this doesn't seem to have been particularly thought out, I definitely feel like project ownership needs to provide more details for this project in order to get the community's support, otherwise I personally feel that this project deserves to die.
  22. Yeah, but that's what I love about small little establishments.
  23. This to be honest with Findlay market do you really need too much more. When I was a kid it was great to eat piles of sugar but now having some fresh grains, fruits, veggies, meats, dairy, just add a nice selection of oils and you have all you need.
  24. Cameras are the easy sell but I'm not too sure they are going to offer what Cincinnati really needs to deter crime. Need a stronger commitment to Comstatand and more aggressive recidivism deterrent policies not cameras. Crime needs to be attacked as part of an integrated social policy.
