Sycamore Township: Kenwood Collection
Sometimes you need case studies in what not to do.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Look, it's obvious that more social services don't need to be in our marquee neighborhood but Queensgate is missing key transportation assets to make it viable. The only other neighborhood that I could see taking these people in is Avondale. Which also has it's own massive set of problems, in short, this project project needs it's own transportation tied to it. However, I'm not generally in favor of treating ex offenders as second class citizens.

Cincinnati: Mount Auburn: Inwood Village
And the owner has pissed off half of council. Not good if you're looking for money.

Cincinnati: Mount Auburn: Inwood Village
In all honesty, this plan seems to be dead. Yeah, great potential but nothing's happened yet to justify further committed interest in this. I think it would be great to have a great mid density, tree lined rowhouse neighborhood in that area with a couple of boutiques and a neighborhood cofee shop and bar but reality is reality and this ain't movin.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I haven't been back to Cincinnati in a long time. Last time, I was there that area was just a flat piece of land. It's amazing to see.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 21c Hotel (Metropole Building Redevlopment)
^Large projects like this that are by their very nature, transformational have to go through a series of checks and consideration for groups affected by this, the poor, is one of them. In Cincinnati, you check down, on race, poverty and such things or you get burned later. Importantly, holding developmental interests accountable to a broader swath is perfectly reasonable, in fact, commendable. All in all, it looks like the majority of these issues are going through the right checks.

Avondale (North of Reading)
Yeah, the Xavier students when I used to live there had a habit of having some pretty rowdy parties and would pee in your yard.

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread

Avondale (North of Reading)
^Also NANA is very active and has a good community.

Avondale (North of Reading)
I grew up there. The area is decent it's most of the time pretty quiet and the park near Reading road and the tennis courts at the end of the street add a lot of character to the area. I'd say that the area is stable - it's a little odd through. I lived on the northern section.

Yeah, Nielsen counts the Cincinnati DMA at about 34th. We are very close to Columbus.

Cincinnati: Downtown: National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
They'll do okay when the banks are built - that's it. Museums need strong foot traffic and just strong ease of access, which they haven't had because they are kind of stuck in an oasis.
-
Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
Yeah there are no hip hop clubs in downtown or any places with a strong hip hop touring contingent. Most just play of the moment pop music. It'd be great to see a club which mixes some of the current/older hip pop and dancable hip hop through the decades.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I vote that the Streetcar be known as P&G In Motion. Paint the streetcar the P&G blue and have graphics showing the history of P&G. Let them donate $500 million to it.

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
As a recent COB graduate I can attest that any action designed to displace undergraduate COB students off campus would radically alter campus life. If you look at Honors PLUS students and Kolodzik Scholars - those programs supply more than their fair share of campus leadership. Also, I'm pretty sure that there is no large capital campaign for the COB right now to finance this.

Dayton: NCR
NCR has the market locked - went to an ICBC (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China) and noticed that they were all NCR machines. Hope some good news comes Dayton's way.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
Real test comes in the back half of the season versus hungry WVU and Pitt. Go Cats I hope you slaughter them!

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
At the end of the day, what matters is the strength of the climate downtown and to the extent that Queen City Square helps in that regard, I feel positive towards it. My hope is that wit the vacancy that this helps to create in other buildings that this will spur additional investment in attracting companies to those properties.
