I use upstate, downstate, and central ohio probably more often than SW or NE especially when talking to my family members. When people tell me that they've been to Cleveland after I tell them I'm from Cincinnati, I usually mention that Clevelands upstate from Cincinnati.
  2. Let's hope they do and maybe the state will get more aggressive about encouraging small businesses :)
  3. ^If you're not going to Ollie's then you aren't living.
  4. Blame Kroger...I'm kidding but not completely.

Born in Avondale, live in North Avondale. About to move to a significantly larger city for work.

Happily hetero and missing my girl :(
  7. If anything, those buildings would be replaced by new lab space which would mean serious capex.
  8. Does anyone happen to know where those bricks go when these types of buildings are demolished? Are the bricks reused at all?
  9. Yeah, what matters more are the tenants and the specific build outs that will occur for the buildings because as they're actually building this thing I'm sure there'll be specific tenants with plans in mind that will create specific design elements. Overall, it still looks bland but doing a row of signature Hadid architecture would result in 0 leases. Mayb, I'm being too harsh but it's really about what's down there to begin with. One thing I do like is the row of street life they're looking at creating but one thing that was bothersome is that I don't really want any of the buildings to have their back to the river. I hope that these are built in a way that makes a statement at first sight.
  10. Good suites are needed but I, too am kinda disappointed.
  11. I was talking to Pauline the other day and she's making some progress on this but there are still issues.
  12. It's not vacant space that's the problem, its in what shape it comes. Highest best use is not maximized by surface parking, specifically, if parking is needed structured would be better. However, we all know that the per space cost of construction escalate as structured parking is placed on a site. Placing greenspace in that area, could, in my opinion increase the market value of surrounding structures and would take the burden off of creating any other greenspace for developers of the Banks. Greenspace there along with, perhaps, an elegantly designed transition space of some sort like a plaza, would create a powerful economic statement leading from the traditional CBD to the Riverfront Park.
  13. The Cincinnatian is definitely a luxury hotel but just not the flashy sort. The quality of the service and the amenities are amazing.
  14. This is just a ploy. In my opinion though this project shouldn't have affordable housing. It doesn't make sense. The toniest new neighborhood in the city should not have public housing this is just from a "does it pass the sniff test" point of view.

When you're young this movie seems awesome but I've seen several movies from my childhood lately like this one, Milk Money, and A Rage in Harlem and I realize that these movies are all pretty sub par. But I still love the love.
  16. I think that the extent to which the people many are seeing are directly dealing drugs is probably low. If there are 12 men on the street, most likely only 1 or 2 are actually dealing; the others are just probably hanging out, which is still not good.
  17. ^That would be a great compliment to other activity on the river by adding some shopping to the Purple People Bridge. But on the subject of the FWW capping I would love to see some shops there.
  18. I think this is an afterthought despite the recent press, for at least another year. However, when it does get built. I advocate a sort of boutique row along a continuous stretch of decking.
  19. Well right now there is still an overall financing problem along with a related lack of a lease near the site.

Get a custom made one at Hunt Club Clothiers or pick one off the rack, it'll run you about $500+ for a Hickey Freeman. You want to pick a great quality suit matched with excellent service; Hunt Club Clothiers.
  21. I'd go one step further and say that we need an afterhours club near campus.
  22. ^^Note that many of the struggling chains are not traditional urban stores. If you depend on car traffic you will get burned; however, if you can get some foot traffic then you'll fair a little better. Really what's going to happen when gas hits $5 or $6. People are going to have to realize the idiocy of their lifestyles and move towards the core.
  23. I wake up some days and wish I was in the BK. Well anyway I kind of wish we'd just get this thing on light rail moving so that we too could get some more new structures downtown. Like I've said before there is no reason why we should have the same skyline we have now in 2015.
  24. Talked to a friend the other day who would've moved near the arts college downtown had it had a better connection to his work. There are some definite missed opportunities by not having what makes sense done already.
