Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I'm happy about this even though there isn't even the slight bit of a chance that I'll buy anything from this store (broke as a joke.

^Some of what you see during the summer in cities like Boston and New York is for intern housing and some high school summer programs.

Cincinnati: Population Trends
If I'm not mistaken it still doesn't note if the city is growing or not. The important thing would be to have historical numbers using the Social Compact methodology to prove that a trend towards growth is occuring. For example if you challenge the more recent census numbers then it's possible that while the actual count may be inaccurate the trend itself is still accurate. Perhaps in 1990 Cincinnati had a population using Social Compact's numbers, of 384,000 or perhaps in 1980 Cincinnati had a population of 394,000. I don't know but does anyone else have any details on this topic?

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
The part of the square backing Walnut needs to be redesigned to bled in better. It's killing continuity. I'm talking about the side directed towards Govt Sq.

I would also push forward a Zara's. I think TIC or is it TLC manages that property and they suck so essentially I'm going to ask people why they have the contract. Does anyone else want to help create a campaign to get them released from this property?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
^Maybe your right but as this project has languished it looks less and less spectacular everyday. This will be a good project but I kind of look at it as a component to a vibrant basin area. What people will really talk about is the streetlife that is created and not just a collectino of buildings so if this is done right then this will help create some on the ground vibrancy that'll spill over to Covington, Newport, OTR, the West End, and the CBD (let's hope).

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
The reason that there's all the fuss is because many people want to create something that isn't currently in place. They want to create/strengthen that link between Uptown and Downtown; they want a real corridor. As John doesn't mean we have it but people want it; hell I want it but not at the expense of work done now.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: Old St. George Redevelopment
I"m not really feeling this mega bookstore concept in that space. One of the main benefits of having a Borders or a Barnes would be to sell text books but there are already plenty of little book sellers in the area. I would think though if there is a shop then they can take inspiration from Urban Outfitters up the street.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
It's always made sense but lay track section by section and just do it. What would further make sense would to build a connection to the airport but you lay the first bit of line down and then you build from there. Why do I say this, because we are in Cincinnati, Ohio not in Shanghai. If we don't build small section by section then we wont have the political will to get it done very quickly. This city basically has issues with getting things done and I understand that's fair, no problem . We're not where we need to be but we've got to do the things that will get us there.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
I believe that a farmer's market could serve to be a compliment and really create some synergies (i like to dig into overused words) between the two. Further it could create some pretty strong energy in the center.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Also the portion of land west of the practice field is what'll really makes this area pop.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
The decking piece is actually what makes it easy to argue that the Banks are a part of downtown and not aprart from. This is really important to at some point cap it so that it can support things like a park or some pubic art that will connect the two.

How does Las Vegas do it?
It's called attitude. Las Vegas is fun, sexy, aggressive, exciting and Ohio is boring, homogenous, pathetic. We all know that isn't the truth but if you weren't vested there would be a good chance that you would feel that way. I can tell someone that I'm going to Vegas and they'll be like "Man that's going to be exciting" but if I tell you that I'm going to the nati they'll be like okay, cool while thinking to themselves "Damn, that's pretty boring".

Cincy Magazine Article Ranking the Burbs
Somepeople use the term to mean anything not in the center city like our downtown so it could be a more broad based term for some.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
There are several stores downtown where people can get food - produce, dairy, baked goods, canned goods, dry stuffs etc. I've shopped in downtowns and you just hit up multiple stores. It seems like people don't want a grocery store they want the Kenard or Hyde Park Kroger downtown. To me part of getting away from that suburban mentality includes being willing to walk several blocks to get food. It's about street life and enjoying the urban fabric. This is a slight rant but I just don't get why many people that I know complain about this when there are other bigger issues downtown. Including not having places open past 2 AM. The bars and the clubs let out and then I would love to get something to eat with some half way decent conversation with my girl. Can someone tell me a place that I can go past 2AM? (besides Shanghai Mama's)

Examining OTR: Social, Political and Economic Impacts of Redevelopment
Maybe I"m wrong but I'm pretty sure that the tear down rate in OTR will likely increase. Has anyone heard of any new inflill projects nothing definitive but for example on Vine there are a few lots that I noticed.

Examining OTR: Social, Political and Economic Impacts of Redevelopment
If there is a premium to be placed on a historic neighborhood it'll probably manifest itself in higher rents and more owner occupied. OTR will very likely have $800+ single bedrooms in the future standard. Probably when the neighborhood is healthy which will be hopefully in 5 - 10 yrs some of that low income housing will be made into at market or above depending on location. I think that alot of the low income housing discussion is a temporary fix to satisfy people in the neighborhood. At least this is what I envision for some of the main district areas that are already sprouting up. I could see some parts of west OTR/West End remaining more accessible/section 8 but the future of that area is at level rents and more owner occupied. Some of those 3 stories should be converted to single owner. The commercial splits will of course remain rentals or management.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
The other agency you speak of is what? I"m interested in knowing a bit more. On the question at hand, I believe that one of the great things about this district will be it's diversity of businesses including entertainment spots. Also, this place has an owner and hopefully that'll mean some scaping and improvement to bring it inline with the rest of the area. I would remain positive about the new owner and see if they have the right viewpoint on the area.
