Cleveland: Flats East Bank
There was also a surf shop during the same time in Tower City. Elements Surf Shop. Since these places predated the internet as we know it, it's as if they never existed. I bought my Vision Streetwear there, and Bad Boy Club. Mayfield Heights had a surf shop too...suitcase williys??

Cleveland: Vintage Videos
From Sea World Ohio wiki page, I found the highlighted line interesting. In 1966, Earl Gascoigne, marketing director at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, was impressed by the success of SeaWorld San Diego and eager to form a partnership with the parks founder George Millay. Gascoigne spoke with Millay about building a second park near the Ohio amusement park. Millay was uncomfortable with the location and sales agreement and declined to build there.[2] Two years later, Millay and his team were looking to expand their brand eastward. George Becker, vice president and general manager of SeaWorld Cleveland at the time, explained that the company was looking for a location between Detroit and Pittsburgh. The land spanning between the two cities was the largest and highest-paid blue collar population in the United States. Becker understood that there were large, strong, families in this area that believed in doing things with their kids.

2018 Gubernatorial Election
And yet she got 3 million more votes nationwide than Trump, and more votes for president than any other candidate in history besides Obama The deciding factor was a specific appeal of racist, xenophobic, anti-muslim, anti-abortion, gun-toting eff yous to intellectuals and the establishment that appealed to just enough low education conservative whites to flip the rust belt Because it worked, everyone and his brother on the R side is now trying to use the exact same playbook to win this cycle These are the exact dystopian ads I was talking about. Straight-up Robocop stuff Seriously, WTF with these ads? Larry Householder is just pissed that he still had a big fat tube TV in 2018...so he shot it. Then again, if he shot a flat screen his constituents would have perceived him as bougie for having one.

Great shots! The first pic almost looks like someone went crazy with "rendering" people stock.

Cleveland: Retail News
^ Or, as I always find at most stores now, even at an upscale mall or shopping center. You find what you want on your own, only to be waiting in a huge line to buy it. There is no reason that a sales transaction in this day and age should be more than 60 seconds. Go to a typical Zara, Express, American Eagle...whatever in a first tier shopping mall on a decently busy Saturday. They are busy. The sales transactions take forever...asking for phone numbers, and rewards cards and blah blah blah. Its maddening...I should just dump my merchandise, and go home and order it.

^That makes sense now...I thought they were new!

Yeah, that sucks >:(

Cleveland: Campus District
The finishes in those apartments are really bad and beige. How did the designer drop the ball on that. :(

Cleveland: Historic Photos
^It's always bad to lose these historical buildings, and the 1960's homes that were built on the parcel are not that special...however that thing is like the 1899 version of a 1999 obnoxious, suburban, nouveau riche McMansion! With better quality materials of course. If saved, it probably could have been divided into some great condos on the lake though.

Cincinnati: Retail News
That sucks. Saks will probably be next...question is will they completely abandon the market like they did in Pittsburgh?

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
^ I don't agree. My parents are in their 80's, born and raised in Akron, lived in Fairlawn, and now live in Northern Stark County. They go to Cleveland all the time, probably a couple times a month. A broadway show, the orchestra, West side Market, Beachwood Place, the Cleveland Clinic, a pro sports game..all less than an hour away. There is no mental block that Cleveland is some far away place that they have nothing to do with or have disdain for. Most people I know in that area think that way...its no big deal at all to go to Cleveland and they admire and love it. It's not far, and has cooler things to do than Akron or Canton. It's like living in Naperville IL, and going into Chicago. Half of the people in the flats partying on any given weekend are probably from Summit or Stark county. Akron/Canton definitely has a strong bond with Cleveland. Cleveland is the cultural, sports, entertainment and shopping capitol of the region, and people in Akron/Canton know it and appreciate it...they don't hate it.

Cleveland: Shaker Square: Development and News
It was Market on the Square when I lived there in the 90's. A full service grocer. I'm not sure if there was parking on the roof. I walked there. A Hough bakery too... I think next door.

Most cities prohibit bikes on sidewalks...let alone motorized vehicles. Where does this fit in?

Non-Ohio Transit News & Discussion
There is a Metra station on Western and 16th in Pilsen not too far from where I live. The only time I see it get used is suburban kids from Naperville coming in for Riot Fest at Douglas Park or that Spring Awakening DJ fest at Addams/Medill Park. I don't know a single person that commutes on it to Downtown. It's really a dump, a rotted wooden platform and a rickety narrow staircase goes between concrete walls and dumps you under a rundown train overpass on the street. It's not even marked, I should take a pic. I think the Halsted stop is in the same condition. I get the feeling Metra could care less about inner city stops...at least on that BNSF line. Maybe the burbs pay for the nice stations for Metra?

I used to live in Ohio City...mid nineties and I swear there were no corner stores. All there was were the gas stations. No nonsense corner stores are awesome.

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
They may have. That sucks. Last time I was in town, Heinen's downtown only had lame corporate flour tortillas made in Texas. That place had the good corn ones made in Pilsen, Chicago. And they had soda pop from every country in Latin America. The guys at Mr Alberts told us about Mi Puebla, and we biked over there. It saved the day for my Mexican friend that balked at the texas tortillas.

Full basements vs. slabs in Ohio
I think the foundation has to sit below the frost line...so the farther north you go, you might as well just build a basement. At least that's what I always reckoned...

Cincinnati: Macy's
Downtown Los Angeles also, apparently even recently updated: http://brighamyen.com/2016/02/21/tour-macys-dramatic-makeover-into-flagship-store-in-downtown-la/

Toledo: Southwyck Redevelopment
I was just in this area off the turnpike. The mall is torn down I believe, but the roads and infrastructure look surprisingly well maintained. The median on Reynolds road has brick pavers, planters, and decorative lighting. Other than the mall being torn down it really doesn't look like that run down of an area to me.

J.D. Power North American Airport Rankings
LaGuardia is a truely a dump IMO...which proves judging a city by its airport is stupid. All other USA airports are what they are, airports that look decent or not depending on how long its been since they have been updated. Who cares unless you get stuck at one. They are 21st century bus stations, and I wouldn't judge a city by it. A rail option to the center city is truely a good airport in any part of the world. Customs handling is a plus if that is a factor. Other than that, if the carpet tiles are 20 years old...I really don't give a F**K

Oh man, screw them. I thought donations to Unique went to Purple Heart Veterans...I'm pretty sure they used to. It's really getting harder to make sure your donations go to a worthy charity. What's a reputable one in Cleveland (not Salvation Army)?
