  1. That's too bad, I never went there, but when it was "That Place on Bellflower" I loved it
  2. I feel like Cleveland might be onto something, a smaller nimble well designed space that offers lots of natural light and outdoor space as opposed to a giant mega center of windowless rooms. Like dying mega malls that have gone the way of the Dodo, maybe..just maybe, the future is what Cleveland is providing, and Las Vegas and Columbus, Indy and the others from the 90's convention center boom are the Dodo when it comes to most modern conventions?
  3. Don't forget strip clubs right nearby that are easily accessible and somewhat "normalized" and not hidden or ultra seedy. Love it or hate it...its a perk for certain convention goers. I never minded that kind of stuff being in the mix in the flats even though I have no interest. Big world class cities have that in the mix.
  4. I recall going to an Indians game as a kid, and a Rick Case Honda ad coming on the big screen, and the crowd yelling d**k Face I thought it was the funniest thing I ever heard. My Mom was not so enthused about me learning this and repeating it
  5. ^I always laughed at the Garfield One 2323 thing. Nobody under 60yo at the time even knew how to dial that on a phone ^^I didn't recall Hal Artz until the end when they songbird 5930 Mayfield...that stuck in my head
  6. Its stunning what these low and mid rise apartments are doing to bolster the skyline/big city look and feel
  7. I watched a video of Cleveland's and it was larger and longer than I expected. A noticable lack of actual floats though. Unfortunately there was a religious zealot yelling stuff from a bullhorn in the background the entire time which seemed weird for Cleveland. I wouldn't be surprised at Columbus numbers since the catchment area of population within a 3 hour drive or so is huge, probably close to Chicago catchment area numbers within a 3 hour drive? Although Chicago would get more people flying in for it.
  8. Not to mention wind studies that may have revealed concerns about turning PS into a wind tunnelšŸ¤”. I have no facts for that, just a thought.
  9. I have said all along that I thought the tower placement/ massing was strategically thought out to give the best bang for the buck filling in the skyline by the architect, including the setback off PS and the reflections. Cleveland does not get a new office tower everyday, and I feel like someone at Sherwin Williams/Pickard Chilton had that in mind and was purposeful in the site and massing/jagged roofline, when all they really had to deliver was a glass box.
  10. I'm not totally mad at it, however I think if the center white buiiding rose up higher a couple floors for amenity/rooftop it would help to have an elevation change/add interest
  11. Wow, I forgot about that lonely Grove Ct Condos building up on the hill built in the 80's you can see in the background. I went to a party there sometime in the early 90's. They have great views, and pretty cool interior layouts. Tiny kitchens, but in upscale places like that it was normal in the 80's. Busy Yuppies did not cook then.
  12. Everything P&G sells is hyper overscented and full of endocrine disrupter chemicals, can't support them even as an Ohio original. I don't blame Dr Squatch, that would ruin thier cred
  13. ^Maybe Goodyear has some lobbyists opposing this? They gotta sell lots-o-tires
  14. Would love to see some of their art collection donated to CMA or MOCA in all this mess at least.
  15. Its about damn time the city and CSU's Urban Planning program are in cahoots! Good news to hear. Maybe if those students got to see their ideas come to fruition to make the city better and more urban friendly, they'd stay and help further the cause.
  16. In the merger, Marianos was supposed to be sold to Piggly Wiggly to satisfy the anti trust problems. I have no idea if that would be better than Kroger since I have never stepped foot into a Piggly Wiggly. I have a Jewel by me that is a dump (Sheridan/Montrose) as are most Jewel stores in the city. They have sand bags along the leaking freezers in the freezer aisle as a normal thing. Albertsons has no idea what they are doing when it comes to urban stores like Jewel. I feel like Jewel under Kroger would have been an improvement.
  17. Indiana and Illinois are also big consumers of Michigan pot sales. The price in Illinois is like 3 times higher than similar products in Michigan, plus a higher tax rate on it. Ohio would get a ton of business from Indiana and it would eat into the Michigan money train. Indianapolis is closer to Ohio than Michigan. They need to get this done in Ohio.
  18. There are quite a few architect designed MCM homes in North Akron south of Merriman Valley and north of W Market St. The neighborhoods are Merriman Woods and Fairlawn Heights I believe, on side streets off of Portage Path or Merriman Rd.

  20. This a dealer for the Canadian based office furniture company, Teknion. They may have won some of the SW FF&E package given this move. APG with a storefront in Ohio City is a MillerKnoll dealer and would be the competition btw. https://www.facebook.com/officerev
  21. This merger of Kroger buying Albertsons is so hard to find info about. In Chicago, Kroger owns Marianos (former Dominicks) and Albertsons owns Jewel Osco. Apparently Kroger will sell Marianos to Piggly Wiggly for anti trust reasons. That kinda sucks, I like Marianos and the Kroger delivery service is excellent. Jewel Osco stores, at least in the city, are pretty beat down, I hope Kroger fixes them up
  22. It looks like the wall art sculpture is still there in the lobby, which I am happy about! Does anyone know if Bell/AT&T still own it? Ohio Bell probably commissioned it. I stated in a earlier post Willis Tower lost a large colorful whirlygig sculpture similar to this not so long ago after a lawsuit by Sears Holdings.
  23. A real balcony is definitely a plus, but given the choice I'd rather have a juilet balcony than just regular windows. Windows that just tilt out are the worst IMO. I live on the the 28th floor of a high rise and am lucky to have Chicago style windows where the side ones open fully. I love it and my neighbors that actually have balconys are rarely on them. Real balconys also cause a headache. People throwing lit cigs off them, furniture and plants flying off in a big storm. I've seen my neighbors windows get smashed by flying furniture. People are dumb, and a juliet balcony is a good compromise for a landlord/ real estate developer that doesn't want to deal with it in a transient rental building.
  24. I'd love to have a juliet balcony, but I love fully opening all windows and turning off AC any chance I get. A friend of mine has one and it gives a really nice indoor/outdoor feel on a nice day in a small apartment that an ordinary window can't.
  25. ^^I'm not that mad at it eitheršŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
