Ohio: Casino / Gaming Discussion
Where do people think the employees eat, shop, live etc etc etc....? The casino? If those who work at Belterra are eating at Ruby's every day then I will apply for a job there. In Lawrencburg I see a new Lowes, I see adjacent hotels for those who either can not get into a booked hotel at the casino or do not want to pay the huge per night cost. I see restaurants, gas stations, Krogers, car dealerships and on and on. I am not blind nor am I dumb enough to believe that the huge influx of not just patrons, but employees doesn't make a difference--a big difference.

Were you planning on dropping by Milwaukee's Potawatomi Casino? I believe you will find its downtown location and its surroundings are thriving. Or are you planning to drive them by the proposed location in Cincinnati where we are desperatly trying to invigorate the adjacent neighborhoods of Pendleton and OTR,(considered one of the most endangered historic sites in the country) whereas the current parking lot (which is the proposed site for the casino) is doing little to spur economic development although meanwhile many developers and businessmen are anxiously awaiting a casino vote, present company included. Stopping by there as well?

Has anyone in Clev, Col, or Toledo seen renderings? I am very confident about the passage of this but the fact there is nothing out there regarding the details of a project that is supposed to begin "immediatly" gives me pause.

I don't think anyone would argue with that. Is Broadway commons covered by historic?

which is true for any business to the extent they can pull it off. The difference here however is that these are parked in such close proximity to the CBD which has other major offerings. Businesses like mine hope to pick up people as they move between the major venues. On another note, where do you think many of the workers at the casino will live? That alone has a major impact on places like OTR.

I haven't and that is somewhat surprising. If construction is to begin immediatly I would think they would be floating around somewhere.

John Hueber Homes between 1400 and 1500 Race St Phase 2 of City Home B2B between the 1400 and 1500 on Elm Northpointe Group between the 1400 and 1500 of Vine rental Mercer Commons Of course there are many other things that could be announced as well as the other projects like Wash. Park. The biggest difference will be added commercial tenants and there is a new commercial agent on the project, Terri Danzilo. Properties are still left in each of the previous phases although some buildings are completely sold out including Duncanson and Bremen.

^I was preaching the same thing when Tarbell was on his Stadium at Broadway Commons Campaign but now with millions into refurbishing the existing coliseum, I believe that train has sailed. Now we can have it all, with a casino, not instead of one.

"Explore Cincinnati" Radio Show
Thank you very much for the positive mention. There was a question on your show as to where the money was coming from for Neon's Unplugged and the answer is, in large part, our own pockets. We already have all of the equiptment provided by another member of the community to outfit the entire bar, both inside and out. We will have favorable lease concessions and all and all we are looking to keep the cost of entry as low as possible, not by being cheap, but by allowing the space to speak for itself vs massive tennant improvement cost. Ongoing cost and maintance in the inside portion will be self funded by the proceeds of the bar which the principles of the company will initially forego for themeselves. In addition, much of the initial cost on new concepts are spent in defining and locating the venue, we are able to cut those cost through aquiring both a known name and known location. Two events are in the planning stages now that will also provide some seed money to next springs opening. Thanks again for the mention.

Ohio: Casino / Gaming Discussion
I, and many others who have invested and continue to invest around this area would like to see a more productive use for Broadway Commons than a parking lot. The impact of the casino will be felt in areas like Pendleton, Main St., the Quarter and beyond breathing new life into now vacant properties such as the Diner, Neon's, etc... which will also both employ and pay taxes, much unlike today. The casino itself is not the silver bullet, but it, combined with an expanded convention center, two new stadiums, a revitalized fountain square, etc all lend to a stronger downtown in Cincinnati. A casino in our portfolio gives us an advantage over most other casinos outside of Ohio as most are not seated in a downtown area therefor only draw people to the venue for 1 reason. We are not monolitic in our offerings like a Lawrenceburg is--or a Wilmington would have been. If you stand against it for moral reasons then that is one thing, but to say it will not have a positive impact on business in and around downtown is ignoring reality. I am investing in a business right now that will not depend on the casino, but would be positively impacted if and when construction starts and I know for a fact, I am not the only one with investment money who is keeping a close eye on November.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Michael L. Redmond replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionNot at this point according to Matt Reckman. There is already tons of people floating from Main to Vine now and all of the vendors are getting ready to open. There is a sea of Vitality OTR Volunteer Ambassadors floating around right now so if you need any help navigating your way from building to building, stop anyone in an orange shirt. Main is shut down above 12th but you can park in any of the lots including the one at the Quarter (just remember that is a pay lot) street parking is still available but is filling up fast.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Michael L. Redmond replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentAlso sounds very odd as she is not the agent. This article is bizarre and at least to me, misrepresentative of who is the agent on these properties. She may be treading on very thin ice by doing this piece.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Michael L. Redmond replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentCorrection Terri Danzilo handles the leasing in the Q. Kathleen is no longer the agent for the Quarter. Link Realty, not Brandt Retail, is the Real Estate Brokerage that lists all commercial spaces in the Gateway Quarter for 3CDC and its developers and the two are in no way affiliated with one another.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I could have put a whole host of things in front of that and therein lies the problem. The PR on this, outside of those on this forum has not been the best and down right off putting at times. I believe this could have been sold much differently from day 1 and still have come out with the same product at the end but to treat those who either do not understand the concept or even those who outright disagree with contempt is not the way to get anything done in this city or any other for that matter. Poor salesmanship is what is the going to hinder you more than anything.

I agree, and the development of the garage and everything else by 3CDC strengthens the argument for the streetcar. I would rather see that worded that the development of things such as the garage and all the other developments are what will be instrumental in the success of the streetcar. One is questionable, the other is not.

I was actually joking about that  I was at 100% at 15 messages. I am accustomed to running my gmail about 2000 messages deep so the mistake was on my part.

I will not say absolutely yes or no, but I believe you will see a portion of that garage being set aside for just that. Every other garage that the city has does this and I do not see where this one would be any different. As for the distance, SCPA is further away and Music Hall is not always operational, I think you will see they will be looking to maximize the garage usage by renting spaces. What street if you don't mind me asking.

They work together and independently as well when deciding whether or not a residential project is viable. I am saying that Mike needs to take both into account on deciding whether to, or not to develop his other property. The streetcar ALONE should not necessarily be treated as a go or no go proposition when other alternatives may present themselves.

Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
Michael L. Redmond replied to CincyImages's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentI believe it was much more about simple building code issues and even that was simply a way for them to bow out gracefully. Unfortunatly, those who were running Cue were very young and although they had the help and guidance of Paul Yankee early on, when he was pulled elsewhere the owners just didn't have the experience and know how to see it through. It was a good run and I appreciate them trying but they are done. The dynamics of OTR entertainment are changing now and although venues will remain on Main, the entertainment offerings will be much more diverse both in product type and location. Other forces, including the possible casino and new residential will continue to alter the landscape.

So you do not think that 3CDC will be placing the garage at the north of the park then? Keep in mind that garage is much closer to being built than the streetcar at this point. My money is on the garage and when it comes to redevelopment planning for Mike then I believe he should take that into consideration...don't you? Why turn a blind eye to alternatives even when it may or may not be the alternative you personally want.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Why not piggy back off the 600 space garage that will be built in the park? Places like the Gramercy were made viable in part because of the city garages, why aren't you? I would think that if you timed your redevelopment of the building with the development of the garage, your rents would be fine.
