I'm going to the home opener on Sunday and need some advice from the experts. I want to get to the city around 8:00 and park, grab a big breakfast and start a bar-crawl towards the stadium. What are your suggestions???
  3. Are there any plans for that adjacent hotel next to acorn alley? What are the last two pictures of?
  4. Pierre's Ice Cream Co. gets unanimous approval for $6 million expansion from Cleveland Planning Commission by Janet H. Cho/Plain Dealer Reporter Friday September 04, 2009, 11:22 AM CLEVELAND - Pierre's Ice Cream Co. got a unanimous thumbs-up from the City Planning Commission this morning on its $6 million proposal to build another 35,540-square-foot production and storage facility on its Midtown Cleveland campus. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2009/09/pierres_ice_cream_co_gets_unan.html
  5. I'm going to preface this comment w/ the declaration that I know NOTHING about trains. .....Now, could the reason the Europeans started at 79mph, be that is was quite a few years ago and the technology at the time made is substantially more cost effective. I just feel that a train that runs only slightly faster than highway traffic will be a hard sell, especially when patrons will have to pay for place to park their cars when they leave. I am huge supporter of efficient, mass-transit (this proposal specifically) but i think the powers that be will need to break the 100mph barrier to get overwhelming community support.
  6. damnnnnnnnn! great pics may.... whats next for for the restoration?
  7. Wow, replacing decapitated store fronts with art? I REALLY like this idea. If help is needed on any additional buildings shoot me a PM.
  8. Cuyahoga County gets six proposals for new administration building by Laura Johnston/Plain Dealer Reporter and Michelle Jarboe/Plain Dealer Reporter August 28, 2009 CLEVELAND — Half the downtown sites proposed for Cuyahoga County's new headquarters were on the list the last time commissioners considered a move. And one is the Ameritrust complex -- the very property the county bought in 2005 for new offices and then tried to unload. The others are the Higbee building, and new lakefront construction north of the Warehouse District. For More: http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/08/cuyahoga_county_gets_six_propo.html

ok..... but we were what? 3-13 last year? I was at the game on Saturday and that's ALL I heard people saying. The Patriots can use the 'its just the lions in the preseason' I think we need to build on any success we have.
  14. I was out there on Saturday.... The handful of people who joined me did a great job. We picked up 5 or 6 large trash bags full of garbage, in the upper portion of the park alone. The park looked great and the locals definitely noticed. I was approached by at least 4 people who gripped about the condition of the park, applauded us for the work we were doing and asked how they could help (of course I led them to urbanohio) This cleanup made a big difference and I hope it can turn into something done on a regular basis.
  15. I posed this article in the General Cleveland News/Events sections, but if it works here, fine by me. BTW, "I think it is important to know that what we're talking about is a plan that could be up and running in four months," Tenenbaum continued. "What he is talking about is an idea." ...How the hell might this be achieved?
  16. More medical mart casino scuffling.... Developer Jeff Jacobs proposes own plan for 1,000-room hotel-casino downtown COLUMBUS — Cleveland developer Jeff Jacobs wants a 1,000-room hotel with a full-service casino built alongside the city's planned convention center and medical mart. More at http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/08/developer_jeff_jacobs_opposes.html
  17. I will be there, and this cleanup should certainly evolve into other projects which need our help.
  18. As I understood it, the 'downtown' population in Cleveland has actually grown to around 10,000 residents. Is this true?

  21. I'll help. Anything to get off that damn forbes list...But seriously, that beach should be a valuable asset to the community, lets clean it up.
  22. I applaud KD Mgmt. for getting on the forum, but that sounded more like HR speak then directly addressing the issue. Why should they spend time "validating" comments by a disgruntle construction worker? Its the construction workers credibility that is in question, not K&D's. Then why get on the forum?
  23. I applaud KD Mgmt. for getting on the forum, but that sounded more like HR speak then directly addressing the issue.
  24. Punch, I share your vision for Midtown. I want the area to succeed. I just don't think these projects are its undoing.
  25. Only if its a barbed-wire fence.....but seriously, It doesn't matter if I approve with your hypothetical layout. It matters only if businesses that are prospecting midtown do. If you take this article at face value, then this hospital, however it's designed, has not deterred the dozens of the businesses which are still interested in the area.
