  7. Cuyahoga County Economic Development Comission approves five-year ED plan The Cuyahoga County Economic Development Commission Wednesday approved and forwarded to the county council a five-year economic development plan that would use a $100 million economic development fund to assist in the attraction to the county of new business and the expansion and retention of existing businesses and in the development of a more skilled and better educated work force. While this new plan does not specify key industries to target for development, Mr. FitzGerald in his April address said he hoped to focus on biomedicine and advanced manufacturing, renewable energy and the local food industry. http://crainscleveland.com/article/20110526/FREE/110529883
  8. There was mention of NoodleCat restaurant in the other forum and it got me thinking. Is there any plans for that awful looking, boarded up storefront on Euclid next to Jimmy Johns?

I find it interesting that when people come to this forum for help moving/relocating into Cleveland, the suggestions are almost always for Lakewood and Cleveland Heights. Even when they specify that they would prefer Cleveland Proper! (and yes I saw that this person would also consider lakewood if it was 'GREAT' but still....)

^^ I had no idea that Lakewood was a bustling and urban as any place in Ohio.... I suggest living downtown or in the near west side neighborhoods such as Ohio City or Tremont. Downtown - Check out 668 euclid, The Bingham, WT Grant, E. 4th apartments, Reserve Square Tremont - Check out Tremont place lofts Ohio City - I am not sure about the rental situation, I am sure someone on this board could help you out
  16. 'So glad that you moved west'?
  17. How about this little tid bit from the article: "There should be plenty of time to design something great on the riverfront. Forbes said Wednesday that the second phase of the casino wouldn’t be built until 2015 at the earliest - two years later than Rock Gaming has said until now"
  18. Ameritrust appraises at $17 million, $28 million less than Cuyahoga County taxpayers have invested By Laura Johnston, The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND, Ohio — The latest appraisal of Cuyahoga County's Ameritrust complex sets its value at $16.9 million -- $28 million less than taxpayers have invested in the downtown property. County Executive Ed FitzGerald won't consider any proposal until at least October, when he expects a study of 31 county-owned properties and 26 leased spaces to be completed. But he's skeptical that that any sale will recoup the more than $44 million taxpayers have spent. http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2011/05/ameritrust_appraised_at_17_million_27_million_less_than_taxpayers_have_invested.html
  19. I believe the 'Visitor Center' as you call it on 4th is for the entire city while the 'Welcome Center' is only for the Casino. There is also an 'International Welcome Center' going into the Huntington building (get used to it people!) They have 3 unique purposes.
  20. ^^ I believe the Cheerios building has apartments planned for the second floor and retail for the first.
  21. :? Having a tiny lane to ride your bike while cars wiz past you is 'being granted special privileges'?
  22. Oh thank god. I cannot wait for this building to be restored
  23. ^ That motivation seminar was today, put an extra 20K downtown
  24. Anybody take part in the (Harry Buffalo?) 5K last night? There were people all over downtown running with sombreros, zoro masks etc. Mind you I was sitting at Greenhouse Tavern eating pork and drinking a beer :-D but it seemed like a lot of fun.
