This is not the kind of decision that should be made at the state level. Blufton (OH), for example, is not in the same position as Cleveland or Dayton. The taxpayers of each city should be allowed to choose whether they want the public servants whose salary they pay to have to live with them inside the city limits.

During warm weather, The Courtyard is very family friendly. But the inside does have a bar feel. Kaldi's would have to be the next closest. I can't think of anything unfriendly about it, especially when you sit on the coffee counter (as opposed to bar) side. The menu is a little limited, but most kids like quesadillas and they have those. Amazing carrot cake too. I don't think Kaldi's is open on Sunday. Harry's has decent pizza and is open during the day on weekdays, but I don't know about their weekend daytime hours. Sadly, there aren't too many places to eat in OTR. I wouldn't consider Nicola's (too fine dining) or Cooper's (bar).

In the past three weeks or so, I've noticed a number of Sheriff patrol cars driving through OTR. I don't know if they were patrolling or just passing through, but I don't remember seeing as many before. I wonder if Leis is sending a few deputies in or if they're just driving through to see what they might be getting themselves into.

At least it's still somewhat near the center of the region. Could have been worse.

Housing prices in Oakley have been growing irrationally over the past few years. It would make sense to see it spill over. I've seen real estate listings that are in Madisonville get listed as an "Oakley" location. I'm not very familiar with the area, but I have been down a few streets in the neighborhood that were downright pleasant.

I'm pretty sure at least the 112-14 E. Fourteenth are from the Grosvenor Square group, which except for a model unit or two have not been rehabbed.

Maybe the guy likes living in a barricaded house? That's ridiculous. Come on, settle down. You don't think homeless people from everywhere within 15 miles aren't already coming to OTR? Even if they aren't "dumped" here, this is where the existing social services are. And you're not going to have much luck panhandling at Rookwood Commons. It has to be the easiest place to get by as a homeless person already. I'm not sure where you guys think all these thousands of homeless folks are right this minute, if not within two miles of Fountain Square. I agree completely that once CityLink is built it won't be going away any time soon. That's why it should be built in Queensgate, near enough that the users can walk there, but not right next to schools and homes, such as West End Kid's. And yes, it is an expansion of social services. Some would say an expansion that is sorely needed. In any event, if CityLink is built there will definitely be people using it to justify evicting the existing services from OTR so they can turn it into condos. Which is fine, the one-stop approach is likely more effective anyway and unnecessary duplication is a waste. The unfortunate thing is that West End Kid and his neighbors get dumped on. Which, for the third time, is why I oppose CityLink.

Looks like the old "Grosvenor Square" buildings. I think, based on previous visits to Middle Earth's site, that at least two of these buildings were already remodeled a few years back. I know at least one person who lives in them already. So not all of these will be newly remodeled, but it's still really good news.
