Cincinnati: Random Development and News
Considering Mallory lives on Dayton St. and his family has been termed the "Dayton Dynasty," I'm sure he will have a keen interest in what happens with the CityLink project.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Artistry
From Today's Enquirer: Luxury condos planned in city Large development near Purple bridge By Marla Matzer Rose Enquirer staff writer The Kentucky riverfront has several luxury condo projects under construction or in preparation. Now, the Ohio side may soon have one. A $75 million condo and restaurant development dubbed RiverCrossing is planned in Cincinnati next to the Purple People Bridge, on the site of what is now the Montgomery Inn Banquet Center. No link available.

Bicycling Recommendations
There's a bike shop on McMillan and Clifton, by UC. Independently owned and dedicated to bikes. I think it's called Campus Cyclery. There's also one further up Clifton towards Ludlow called BioWheels.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
The Rookwood Pottery restaurant has indeed been bought by new owners. I don't know if they owned the Chop House, though.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
Those houses in Carthage are ugly. But they are brownfield, owner-occupied, and inside the city limits, so I'll take it.

Is Over-the-Rhine As Bad As They Say?
More patrols in OTR can be a good thing, if the deputies are properly trained in both urban policing techniques and community relations (as the Cincinnati Police officers are).

Is Over-the-Rhine As Bad As They Say?
RiverViewer, in the future when you exit at Liberty, turn right on Sycamore and take that route up to Clifton. A little less direct, but a lot more peaceful.

Cincinnati Public Schools: Development and News
inkaelin, I agree completely. Thank you for the excellent post.

Your Daily Commute
I alternate between walking and busing my 3/4 mile commute, depending on the weather and how comfortable my shoes are.

Cincinnati: OTR: Gateway Condos/Kroger Garage
Some of the later renderings posted earlier in this thread (whose links are now broken) showed one retail space on the first floor at the corner. In addition to the one tiny space already built into the garage.

Cincinnati: Schoolhouse Lofts (E. Walnut Hills)
The top reminds me of a mortarboard. Too bad they couldn't put the historic roof back on, that top unit could have been pretty cool with vaulted ceilings underneath it!

Cincinnati: Northside: American Can Factory Lofts
I think the American Can project will need its own thread before long!

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
I agree with inkaelin about the windows (though I think the term is 'muntin' bars) and with CiNYC that the proportions are off. It seems like any first-year design or architecture student could have done better. It's really too bad, because these houses are prominently located next to the busy Mt. Lookout square. An opportunity squandered...

Norwood: Developments and news
I can't believe Cincinnati didn't annex Norwood way back when. These projects are just redistributing benefits from one political subdivision to another, when both are under much more serious threats from outlying greenfield suburbs. I hope the resulting office park type buildings aren't too much of a drag on downtown. To that extent, it's like two rats fighting over a piece of bread on a sinking ship. That said, it's great to see brownfield redevelopment in our urban core.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Very exciting. Once there's a train, I won't have an excuse to never have visited Cleveland.

Nice spelunking pic!

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Cincinnati kid, I think you might have misread the sentence about the Emery Theatre funds. I believe the money was taken from the theatre rehab account and diverted to other purposes. It is a confusing sentence.

Wow, those are ugly!

Cincinnati: OTR: Gateway Condos/Kroger Garage
An MLS search for properties on Vine St. shows that only 3 units are Under Contract. I imagine it will be much easier to sell them when they are closer to completion.

Cincinnati: OTR: Gateway Condos/Kroger Garage
Good things come to those who wait. I have a good feeling about that part of town when these condos are completed and occupied.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Wow! That looks so much better than the existing office skyscrapers downtown.

Is Over-the-Rhine As Bad As They Say?
As much as I can't stand Peter Bronson's opinions or his smug delivery, the statistics do bear out his point here. The 9/11 reference on 9/11 is pretty fucking insensitive though.

Graydon Place, Cincinnati - anyone buying?
Any updates on the situation? Did you get moved in? If so, I want to see pictures!
