Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: University Park Apts/Calhoun Street Marketplace
Looks like about 150 housing units, including 82 owner-occupied condos. There is a clickable map with floor plans at http://www.chcurc.org/.

Cincinnati undesirable for young people?
...Looks like it, according to Forbes: http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/02/29/loc_p.young29.html I tend to disagree... I'm in my mid-20s and just moved to Cincinnati last summer. I love it. Far better than anywhere I've been in my home state, Michigan. There are tons of festivals, excellent parks, great museums, fun bars with great patios, beautiful views, and vibrant, walkable neighborhoods. My only real complaint is an utter lack of rail (not that I'm used to it in MI), but the bus system is usually competent and I use it every day.

Cincinnati: Uptown: Stratford Heights
That is going to be a great student 'hood when it's finished, it will integrate nicely into the surrounding neighborhood (which is already mostly students) as well as an existing park toward the bottom of the hill. I take the bus past this everyday and construction is moving very rapidly, the foundations are almost all there and some vertical concrete block construction is going up. Around the corner on Calhoun St., demolition has begun on old fast food restaurants and a few run-down row houses to make way for another development in the Clifton Heights business district.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Hopefully the rest of the $$ will fall in line shortly so 3CDC can really get this project rolling. What kind of projects has 3CDC headed in the past?

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
The headline on the first article is a good example of the ineptitude of Cincinnati's press. "Bullet Grazes Construction Manager?" Please! How about "Gunman Randomly Attempts to Kill Construction Manager." What on earth would this scumbag's motive be? I mean, Laurel Homes was not a nice place to live by any stretch of the imagination, so I doubt he was upset about it being torn down and replaced. If it was an attempted robbery, he did a terrible job. Unfortunately, it's most likely he was just another ignorant fuck with a gun and a bad attitude. Sorry for the rant.

so much for using Everclear to sterilize my aquarium...

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
I kinda like Plan 4, let's build something magnificent and architecturally significant, and preserve the surrounding neighborhoods.

Cincinnati Gay Rights
Thank god. It's about time to get rid of this stain on Cincinnati's reputation. If it's not discriminatory, then it certainly it's arbitrary. Let's hope Cincinnati voters are more enlightened in 2004 than they were in 1992.

Cincinnati: OTR: Gateway Condos/Kroger Garage
They should definitely build the condos, even if they decide to use a lobby instead.

Western Hamilton County growth issues
This type of resistance is usually successful in delaying projects, but in my non-scientific observations in the past the box unfortunately ends up being built. Alas, more sprawl...

Cincinnati: Eastern Corridor
Found this article about a transportation planning happening tonight. The area of discussion is eastern Hamilton Co. and western Clermont Co. Has a little bit of discussion about light rail and a proposed highway: http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/01/29/loc_eastroads29.html

Cincinnati: Downtown - 6th & Race Apartments
It's very encouraging to see this kind of development. I can't wait until this year's downtown housing tour. Stupidly, I missed last year's. Sixth & Race is a great location, so close to everything...

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
Alas.... How sweet it would be to have a rail system like that! The Xavier-UC-Downtown- N KY streetcar would be especially useful to me.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Ooohh... the lid on Fort Washington Way would be nice too!

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I knew the project had a name..."The Banks." A google search produced some pretty nice renderings of the project, hopefully it comes to fruition. Rowhouses, a late hours CVS and a couple bars would make a great (and popular) little neighborhood down there. On a warm day, the location would be walking distance to lots of nightlife and activities. The only problem is that game days would bring lots of outside foot traffic past your door.
