I agree, time to move on. I would interpret being the only person who didn't get a raise, despite doing an admittedly good job, as a big hint. Also, her pseudo concern about you looking for a new job may be a little bit of reverse psychology (i.e., a reminder, in case you hadn't thought of it until now). You'll be better off in an organization comprised of more than just "yes" men.
  2. Look at all that parking.
  3. Of course police serve the residents. Of course of course of course. The mayor and council are not pushing for extra cops to please visitors. Read some of the stories on this board from neighborhood council meetings and summits. There's always a quote from a resident demanding more cops.
  4. It happened in Mt. Washington.
  5. I don't know, Taco Bell will attract vehicular traffic until the middle of the night and generate significant light pollution. I wouldn't want to buy a condo across the street from it. Or have they ditched the condo plan?
  6. In the Mt. Washington case, the perpetrator was still on the scene with a gun. Everyone in the area was presently in danger, including the victim and the guy behind the wheel. Not necessarily the case in the Kennedy Hts. car theft.
  7. Good riddance.
  8. How about Brush Park?
  9. ^I agree, Issue 3 was a real turd. Though I enjoy gambling, I voted against it because it seemed like a sweetheart deal, would allow only slots, not table games, and excluded Cincinnati (and any other city) from building standalone casinos. Good riddance.

Wow, what a commanding victory for Strickland. Brown didn't do too shabby, either.

    Great thread!!
  12. It's no big deal to get financing on $150k as long as you have a decent income. Probably $40k/year would do it.
  13. They recently finished a model unit in 2324 Park Avenue, called the Cooper. Very impressive product, it's come a long way since the last photo above. The building has beautiful historic details that the developer has seamlessly integrated with modern floorplans. The agent says they've sold 10 of the 40 units since they started marketing them in April. Not bad without a model.

Wow, I'd almost forgotten about this thread. There are lots of great historic photos available online, especially from government sites. I'm sure there are more available now then a year ago when I downloaded these.
  15. The price points at One River Plaza probably have something to do with that.
  16. I knew it wasn't as bad as the Census Bureau first estimated, but I had no idea it would be this good. From the fastest loser to the slowest gainer. City shrinking? Not really Census agrees city didn't lose population BY DAN KLEPAL AND GREGORY KORTE | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITERS Forget everything you heard about the shrinking Cincinnati. Forget everything you heard about it losing population faster than any major U.S. city. In a stunning reversal of previous estimates, the U.S. Census Bureau will post new estimates today that have the city gaining population this decade - by 27 residents. The new population estimate for Cincinnati is 331,310, replacing the July estimate of 308,728. The revision is the result of a challenge by city officials who said the July numbers undercounted new housing units. Cincinnati joins Columbus as the only big cities in Ohio estimated to have gained population between 2000 and 2005. Cincinnati is now the 56th largest city in the country - up from 58th - and has jumped over Pittsburgh and Tampa. cincykid, You should be able to file a fraud report with the credit bureaus. They might be more responsive than the bottom-feeder collection agency.

This article grossly understates the negative impact of these asian carp. They actually deplete ALL the nutrients in the water, even microscopic stuff, making it uninhabitable and killing off other species of fish. If the fish die, so to birds and water mammals that feed on them. The potential ecological impact of this fish on the Great Lakes ecosystem can hardly be overstated. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5542199
  19. I've always thought those buildings would make excellent residential. Let's hope this comes to fruition.
  20. While I'd much rather see this investment downtown, this is still needed investment in the urban core. Plus the income taxes accrue to the city.
  21. That little cemetary is in Betts-Longworth. Clark Street, maybe?
  22. Intelligent people can be bigots, as can people who have black friends and represent black people in court. Even conceding, for the sake of argument, that Cunningham is not himself a bigot, I stand by my comment based on the viewpoints he espouses on his WLW radio talk show. His latest tirades have been directed at Mexicans, btw. I listened to him use the unfortunate incident of that guy who recently got attacked and killed by some immigrants up in Mason to launch a racist tirade against everyone from Mexico, then everyone hispanic, then everyone whose first language was not English. So if this guy is not a bigot, he sure as hell propagates bigoted ideas under the cover of his own personal opinion and therefore remains a piece of shit.
  23. Bill Cunningham is a bigoted piece of shit. He belongs in Kentucky and they can keep him.
  24. I think the above shot is Mohawk Street looking down toward McMicken and is that church in Winton Place?
