Cincinnati: Complete Streets, Road Diets, and Traffic Calming
The cool thing about these spots are that they are soooo huge you can fit 2 scooters side by side in 1 space if you use your center stand. Since many scooterists know each other or will eventually, they can split the cost of the meter and park for half price when the meters are in operation. They made these spots big enough for a goldwing or Hardly Worthitson on a sidestand. :-D Dan @Parkandvine wants a spot on Vine near his store. Be sure and email the city with that location!

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I would feel much safer riding in a streetcar than riding in a bus. At least you are on a fixed track which lowers the chances that the driver will go off the road, not to mention the slower speeds they travel.

The spot is not that great.. There will be some cager visibilty issues, we joked that we wouldn't want to be in the last 2 spots closest to vine!! Those will be the last to fill up on a busy day.

neo-ruins of post apocalyptic tokyo
I was in a 7.2 visiting family in Tokyo last spring. It literally shook us out of our futons while we were sleeping ..Yikes!! All cabinets are secured by chains to the wall so you aren't crushed. It is frightening experience knowing that the BIG ONE will occur again.

Bortz, and Mel McVay are awesome!! MEDIA ADVISORY CITY OF CINCINNATI FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE City Launches Scooter Parking Downtown City Hall Implements Pilot Parking Plan WHAT: The City of Cincinnati will announce the results of their online two-wheeler parking poll this Thursday, October 23, at the northeast corner of 8th and Vine. City workers will install the new signs for downtown scooter parking for first-time users. For the last month the City has been gathering input from drivers of scooters, mopeds, and motorcycles regarding where they would like to park Downtown. On Thursday, the top five vote-getting locations from the City’s online poll will be announced and opened for parking. Given the ridership during winter months, the program will begin with free parking and will be evaluated for springtime use. Due to rising gas prices and environmental concerns, these smaller vehicles have become increasingly popular throughout the United States and in major metropolitan cities, including Cincinnati. In addition to being more fuel-efficient than automobiles, two-wheelers emit less CO2, cause less damage to our roads, and require less space for parking. Suggestions on additional spots for two-wheeled vehicle parking can still be e-mailed to [email protected]. WHEN: Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 1 p.m. WHERE: The northeast corner of 8th Street and Vine Street. PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: City workers will install scooter parking signs, first-time users of two-wheeler parking spots

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: School for the Creative & Performing Arts
I agree about the variations, but the bigger footprint of building closer to the sidewalk would give more room for current and future enrollment.

If they had grown a pair and built it to the sidewalk like almost every other building in OTR, they would have had plenty of room.

Personally I would take the new all electric BMW isetta over the petrol smart. If the USA would allow the canadian Diesel smart for sale here I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Cincinnati: Complete Streets, Road Diets, and Traffic Calming
Yea, I was a little surprised too. Parking on the street in OTR isn't bad for a 2 wheeler as the CBD though. Maybe the ART Academy could spare a few spots somewhere if students or faculty asks for it.

Cincinnati: Complete Streets, Road Diets, and Traffic Calming
Good news! Looks like the best spots prevailed in the dead center of the CBD. Forwarded message: The top five vote-getting locations in the poll were: 1. Sycamore Street (east side) between 4th Street and 5th Street 2. Walnut Street (NW corner) between 6th Street and 5th Street 3. Broadway Street (west side) between 6th and New Street 4. 8th Street (NE corner) at Vine Street 5. 7th Street (NW corner) at Sycamore Traffic Engineering is working on the layouts now, and it looks like each location will fit 3-4 vehicles Possible painting and installation of signage late next week.

cincinnati gateway quarter - what's it like living there?
I don't live at the Gateway but I walk thru it just about everyday. Today I had the best ever experience at the Krogers on Vine. The only complaint I have is the urine soaked area where the bike rack is. I was able to buy Organic milk, bananas and all the other basics and there was no drama. The staff said good morning welcome to Krogers and the manager of the store went out of his way to give my Son a free pinwheel. Today was like one of those fly dreams Didn't even see a berry flashin those high beams No helicopter looking for a murder Today I didn't even have to use my A.K. I got to say it was a good day.
