  3. It's so much fun to rip Cincinnati even when the crime occurs in the burbs! :-P Reported by: Deb Silverman Photographed by: 9 News Web produced by: Laura Hornsby The bitter cold makes it tempting to leave your car running while you run a quick errand, but we have video from outside a local store that will show you why you want to turn off the engine. Surveillance video from the Wal-Mart on Mason Montgomery Road in Deerfield Township shows how quickly it happens. Anthony Carter of Loveland parks his truck with the plow fastened on the front in the first row of spots. He leaves his doors unlocked and the car running while he goes into the store to get some parts for the plow. 15 seconds later, a thief wanders over to the truck and takes off. "He was hanging out around the Wal-Mart," said John Newsom, the major at the Warren County Sheriff's Office. "He just hung out and probably waited for someone," said Newsom. Investigators say this is why you should never leave your doors unlocked and the engine running. However, they say it's pretty common practice. Especially, when the temperature is as low as it is right now. We saw just how common it is when we started looking. Delivery workers and drivers left their engines running while they walked away at a Lebanon gas station. It's a safe town, Lebanon's a safe town. I don't worry about that. If it was cincinnati or somewhere, yeah then I would worry," said Donielle Roberts.Others like Julie Drummond of Lebanon say they'd never risk it. "I think that's just kinda weird and stupid," she said. The stolen truck was found in Bond Hill. The suspect has not been found. Detectives say the video gives us a clear picture of what their suspect looks like. What they say we can all learn from this: there are criminals in every neighborhood. "Deerfield Township is a very safe area. It's a wonderful place and this guy's gone that quickly. So it can happen to anyone. Just a victim of circumstance," said Newsom.
  4. I read a great eye opening book recently "How to live well without owning a car" by Chris Balish I reccomend it to anyone thinking about ditching the car.
  5. Good that the Bald Eagles are making up comeback in Ohio, but now that the Bald Eagle is no longer on the endangered species List the habitat is no longer protected.
  6. I was soooooo tempted to borrow my neighbors kayak :-D http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b13/Hakaida/?action=view&current=MVI_2845.flv http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b13/Hakaida/?action=view&current=MVI_2861.flv
  7. Wow, victorias secret without photoshop.. I always thought there was something scary about those girls
  8. 1) Prospect Hill -The cozy first suburb of cincy, it's hillside, houses and private gardens. 2) OTR- All the people, stores that are making a positive outcome to a great neighborhood. 3) The Public stairways of Cincinnati-A great way to stay in shape and soak up the beauty of our old city. 4) The possibilty of having streetcars again. 5) CBD- Gets better everyday 6) Northside the coolest neighborhood outside of the basin 7) Cincinnati Parks
  9. One of the worst songs ever.. Can't believe this didn't make it to the list.
  10. I miss the Screamin' Demon....
  11. Don't remember seeing this anywhere else but Pendleton is getting a new furniture store. Should be open soon. Joseph Williams Home 550 Reading Road, Cincinnati, OH 45202 We are a new urban lifestyle furniture store, offering rugs, lighting, art, decorative mirrors, and other unique home accessories. We are located on Reading Road in the Pendleton Arts District. Parking is available in our lot and on the street.
  12. I don't really care much about the Banks, kinda gave up on it a long time ago. Cool if it would happen but it isnt even neccesary. The streetcar is 10 times more important to me. I think the streetcar could actually get the Banks started.
  13. Kaldis lost its vibe under the new ownership. Jeremy had an awesome beer selection though!! Bummer, probably won't make it up to Kaldis at the new location much until the streetcar goes there.
  14. If you say trolley 1 more time you are going on my ignore list.
  15. I am glad that Broadway Commons never happened. Parking in Pendleton and Prospect Hill can get tight and I would rather not have people park on the hill and walk for free to get around paying for $7.-$10 parking plus all those losers peeing on our houses and littering the neighborhood with souvenir cups. Keep that big stuff on the river and make broadway commons a nice residential commercial area with a park and transit hub. NO BIG BOX anything!
  16. Sounds like Cincinnati's skyloop project
  17. There are so many positives to have Thru trucks stay on the loop. Less air pollution in the downtown basin, quieter highways, less accidents in FWW tunnels caused by speeding and wreckless trucks etc. shorter commute times. I want an HOV lane on 75 when they do away with left hand exits.
  18. Where are the area doctors going to buy weed now??
  19. I almost fainted when I saw that.... If a thru truck wants to use 71/75 let them pay for it. Just make the toll high enough that it would be much cheaper to go around our city.
  20. What an idiot. There is a gazillion things to do within walking distance of OTR. The streetcar will be the greatest thing to happen to OTR since Christian Moerlein started brewing here in the back of his blacksmith shop.
  21. What cup size are you?? Anna: Please have a look at the mugs and cups.
  22. Everytime you fill up your car think of Dubai.
  23. TGIF..oh gawd.. I hope not! a 24 hr IHOP would be much nicer. Even though they are overpriced and not very good. There used to be a Big Boy in that location.
  24. Those trucks don't have to go around 275 because they are doing business in OUR city. Besides I don't buy at food marts... The trucks that are passing thru our great city and not contributing anything but diesel fumes and wear and tear on our roads can go around. :-P Higher prices? oh well!
