Maximillian replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionOverall, I am for whatever helps slow down the wanton destruction or speeds up the recovery of the building stock of OTR. My buddy from Germany told me last week that OTR is a true Gem. (News to me HAHA!) His city was almost completely destroyed in WW2, he said if there were areas like OTR where he lived there they would flourish over all others. To me this project is a speedbump and will slow down the recovery of the area.

"thru-truck-free" I am not saying for local trucks! :-P This would be a ban on trucks that go through our city to get somewhere else. They don't contribute to our tax dollars but they pollute, congest our inner city. They can take the long way around!! :-D

I-71 and I-75 should be "thru-truck-free" inside 275. I remember 71 when trucks were banned in the tunnel during FFW construction and it was great! Also bloody wooster is truck-free and it is a pleasure to travel on.

Maximillian replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI'm sorry but that would not be a good selling point to share to with my wife and son. You would think as the area became gentrified that these social service agencies would move to a more approriate area. With this development they are digging in and are going to stay for the long haul, just knowing that is enough for me.

Queensgate by the mouth of the mill creek or next to MSD "spinney field LPH" would be the perfect place for the agency's move.

I really like Joan Kaup! She is Pro-Streetcar and transit unlike ghiz who goes out of her way to keep "bus-people" from walking up the public stairway thru her rich friends neighborhood. :-P

Cincinnati: West End: The Gateway Park District (Union Terminal)
I'm not sure if anybody said anything about it in an earlier post, (sorry I'm lazy) but I remember seeing a cool conceptual drawing of Union terminal with buildings on both sides done by a local artist. I remember seeing it at Final Friday Pendleton arts center 3rd floor?? and to the left. It has been on the wall for several years..

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Jim will be missed big time, he was one of OTR's first pioneers and has saved many buildings from the wrecking ball. I'm glad Roxanne Qualls is on board now, she is pro-transit and a big supporter of cincinnati's public stairways, unlike leslie ghiz who goes out of her way to close stairways down so public transportation users don't trek thru her $$$$ Rich friends neighborhood. Glad to have Roxy on board!

Secondhand smoke cloud migrates from Cincinnati to Kentucky. CINCINNATI – A massive cloud of secondhand smoke originating from bars and restaurants in Cincinnati is being monitored closely by meteorologists this month as it floats south toward it's soon to be new home in Kentucky. Health officials have taken special interest in what appears to be appears to be an equally massive lung cancer formation closely accompanying the cloud system. Kentucky bar and restaurant owners are planning a cloud arrival ceremony during which the Cincinnati cloud will be merged with the existing Kentucky cloud to create what is being called the supercloud. Newport Mayor Thomas Guidugli commented, “The supercloud brings extraordinary economic opportunities to this region. The revenue from lung cancer treatment alone provides the capital to build additional bars and restaurants.” http://www.derfmagazine.com/news/politics/198.html- Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion

A few years ago I had a coworker tell me that the I-71 bridge near KI is on it's last leg.. His buddy is an engineer with ODOT. He and his family take the long way around (Ft Ancient bridge) to avoid crossing that bridge. :-o- Northern Kentucky: Random Development and News
Maximillian replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionSidewalks only work well when there is good shade trees or shade from buildings to escape the summertime heat. Maximillian replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionHave you ever seen the bike only lane on Houston rd?? I love how it deadends at every stripmall entrance. The high Hispanic population on turfway has made a deer path (sidewalk) that is worn pretty good between 75 and Dixie. - Cincinnati: Historic Photos
