  1. I used to do that but now you can buy biodegradable corn bags for cheap and feel good about throwing it in the can. It looks like Ikea is really coming along nicely.
  2. Ikea is doing the right thing, this may sway me to shop there even though it is a bigbox in the burbs..BYOB!!! IKEA charges for plastic bags Leslie Earnest, Los Angeles Times Wednesday, July 11, 2007 When it comes to sacrificing to help the environment, IKEA shoppers are like everybody else: conflicted. Even if what they're sacrificing is a nickel. The home products retailer charges 5 cents per plastic checkout bag, and customers are either happy that IKEA is doing something positive for the planet or irritated that they would have to fork over anything for a flimsy little sack or some combination of both. "It's pretty ridiculous," said Will Sisto, balancing 12 drinking glasses and two glass coffeepots in this arms as he headed to his car in the Costa Mesa store's parking lot recently, nursing a sprained ankle. "I'm not going to pay any money to get a bag." In the big-business crusade to be greener than the other guy, IKEA gets kudos from environmentalists who recognize the Swedish chain as the first major retailer in the U.S. to put a price on the omnipresent bags made of thin, flexible plastic film that clog landfills, don't readily decompose and can suffocate wildlife. 3. I can't believe I just wasted 10 minutes reading and posting about this project and it's food court...
  4. Some real estate agents (including some on this Forum) and news media outlets like to say OTR is downtown and some even go as far as saying Queens Tower in East Price Hill is downtown. This nonsense has to stop, The CBD is downtown. Period.
  5. I have an idea, how about they use the land for CITYLINK? It isn't next to any schools or parks and it's on the bus line.
  6. Ok, I use this place all the time after 7 PM. This will affect ALL Downtowners and was a really nice because of the convience of being open later . The old Hours were Mon-Fri 7:30-9 Sat 7:30-6 The new hours will be: 7:30-7 SAT 7:30-3 This totally sucks!! Please call 1-800-275-8777 and let them know we want the old hours back!!! Aug 1st the new hours take affect..
  7. Well, I have some bad news... The Gambrinus Stock Brewing Company is getting a fresh coat of STUCCO on the front. I really had my hopes up for this building. It looks like it will be at least another 20+ years before somebody does it right..
  8. Posted by: cramer « Reply #1281 on: May 09, 2007, 05:51:25 PM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I bet they put up a huge neon steakburger on the corner, they have to compete with the big fish across the street. Go 3cdc!

Your making me hungry! Typical Gaijin.. Miso soup and Teriyaki...?? Kinkakuji Shrine is in Kyoto (the Golden shrine) I too have family in Japan, Can't wait to visit in October!
  10. That sucked! I got down there and they were having some sort of banquet with music under a tent next to the building. Bulldozer was just sitting there in the same spot. :whip:
  11. Just stopped by, there is a buldozer ready for action but the area has not been taped or blocked off at all. There are a couple of "chew marks" on some of the windows  The demolition is supposed to be a little before 6 pm.
  12. All signed up for the Go-Green program and Power Manager :-) I am really glad they offer these programs. Who else here is Going Green???
  13. If any of you locals that are interested in streetcar history are quick (j Meck) etc you can get a glimpse of the old track running up gilbert ave to walnut hills. It is in the center of the gilbert and is exposed from roadwork.
  14. Great news!! It will be nice to sit on the benches on the bridge and watch the progress.
  15. Well, I don't use the highway much anymore so I guess it really doesn't matter to me what the signs say.. :-D It would be nice if people would call them when an accident/construction has been cleared up, like the police, dispatcher etc. I called them a couple of times...
  16. The stupid signs messages rarely are correct when I encounter them, they say there is an accident and there is NO accident etc. I don't trust the signs and probably would have stayed on the highway if I were driving on it. They really need to stop crying wolf and make that thing minute to minute accurate.
  17. Mcmicken, I am sure you guys call the POPO about the hookers at elm and mcmicken but EVERY time I go past there which is alot there is a girl. What is up with that?? Also, good news in Pendleton. I noticed that the stucco on the old horse carriage building (at reading and sycamore)is being stripped, and the brick being repaired. I will get pics tommorow morning. This totally changes the look of that area!! :-o
  18. Pleease build the streetcar NOW!!!I am not using th bus for leisure travel ever again.(just had a really bad experience) that will bore you so that's all I am going to write.

I commute along eastern/Columbia out to milford and have to say this rail line is a joke, it's not needed. Make it a rails to trails and call it a day.

  21. Yay!! more concrete! :-P
  22. is that a trick question??? Newport or Covington.
  23. About $6./week for my commute. Dang high gas prices!! I used to spend about $4. :-D
  24. From wikipedia: The tram remains somewhat unpopular with those living underneath its route. In April 2007, an unidentified homeowner living under the tram route placed a sign on their roof, visible to all who ride the tram, stating "Fu#K THE TRAM" in large block letters. The sign is not visible from the street, only from the air. Officials were looking into whether or not the sign violated any laws
