  1. WTF! I am sick of the churches and schools and their disrespect for our neighborhoods! They seem to do what they want regardless of how the residents feel.
  2. Yes this is the same location. The same family owns the thai restraunt in mt adams. I hope they are doing ok, I would hate to see them go.
  3. I I think this is at the top of sycamore hill where sycamore st bears a sharp right. What do you think jimmy? I am guessing that the chariot photo was taken looking east towards mt adams around central pkwy or maybe 6th or 7th st? hmmm
  4. Jimmy, I also heard the belmont shooting. That was the scariest sound I have heard since living around here. The loud explosions you, I and many others heard all last summer were those single shell fireworks. I had neighbors who called the cops thinking those were gunshots. I forget the name but those things would wake me up all the time since they even shot them off at 4 am on a weekday :x Most of the time when you hear gunshots around here they are 9mm or similar sized caliber. if you hear 4-5 fast bursts in a consecutive 2-3 second time frame that most likely will be gunfire. Thats when like ICE-T used to rap you should,, HIT-THE-DECK!
  5. I think the report is a bit flawed on the number of gunshots being heard. As a recreational shooter for most of my life, I know a gun shot when I hear one. I can't even remember the last time I heard gunfire and I live across the street from OTR. Kids around here set off fireworks non stop around the holidays and I suppose many on the report were just that. It would be interesting to see the actvity monthly and I bet many of the "Gunshots" were heard around july 4th, labor day and new years. I think cincinnati is more like a jelly doughnut sweet on the inside and bland on the outside.
  6. WTF....Another landmark gone! This is one of the places that made cincinnati unique.
  7. It's a huge pile of rubble now, kinda reminds me of the scene in the 1st terminator movie after the nuclear war with the robots smashing the bones. I would assume most UC alumni are going to be peed when they see it gone.
  8. What is with the light sabre on the front of the building? There are many of those "Gateway spotlights" all over town and none of them are operating anymore.
  9. I The picture you would see would be a bigger dissapointment. This neighborhood got raped much like the west end in the 50's urban renewal crusade style but in a smaller scale. The only good thing I see about this project is they got rid of a few drive thru fast food chains and it will bring more money into the area when the Gap-yuppies start moving in. This project is so bland, I hope this is not what the Banks project will look like when it is built.
  10. Calhoun st should have only had the fast food chain and gas stations demolished. Everything else "inn the wood, acropolis chili etc should have remained and development should have been built next to them. It seems so sterile and suburban up there now. I have lost interst in walking this part of cincinnati and it's a shame. I have alot of good memories up there though as do many others Im sure.
  11. Check out the picture wcpo.com used for the rape story. It seems they changed their story a little too.. Police are looking for a suspect accused of raping and robbing a woman at gunpoint as she was heading to work downtown Monday morning. The incident started around 7:45 a.m. in a parking lot along Sycamore, just outside the Jobs and Family Services Building, where the victim works. The woman told police she was paying to park for the day when a man with a shotgun forced her back into her car. Police say he made her go to an ATM in Avondale and withdraw cash. Then, at some point, the suspect raped the woman, police said. It's unclear where that rape occurred. Hours later, the victim showed up at a house along Yoast Avenue in Fairmount and asked the resident for help. "I asked what's wrong, she's crying and asked to use the phone, needed to call 911," said that resident, who asked to be identified only as Mark. 9News obtained a tape of that 911 call: Caller: "And then he took me somewhere off Harrison Avenue and raped me and dumped all my personal things, credit card, and ID out on the road. He robbed me at work and I've been driving around with him for 2 hours and he just dropped me off and took my truck." That truck is a Gray Mazda Tribute SUV with Ohio license number DBD-7255. The victim gave police this description of the suspect: Black male Mid 20s to early 30s Goatee Wearing long blue jean jacket and gray jeans The SUV has not been spotted since the alleged attack. Police believe the suspect may still be driving it.
  12. Meida is always out to diss downtown especially during the holidays. The job and family building is in OTR NOT downtown. Downtown Worker Robbed And Raped, Police Say The woman works downtown (WCPO/WCPO.com) Reported by: 9News Web produced by: Mark Sickmiller Photographed by: 9News First posted: 12/5/2005 12:30:55 PM Last updated: 12/5/2005 1:03:21 PM Police are looking for a suspect accused of raping and robbing a woman as she was heading to work downtown Monday morning. 13. Montgomery inn has a huge parking lot that extends all the way to berry park. Build a parking garage on that site and put the banquet center on the top.
  14. " Looks like we are going to get the same crap "kroger garage" orfice. These big box developments are ruining OTR. I wouldn't doubt walmart is eyeing a block for a supercenter. Bah Humbug!
  15. The only buildings that should be demolished in OTR are KFC,Shell gas station, Freestore foodbank, Health center@vine, New kroger parking garage, Short stop market AKA "crack pipe shop" on liberty at sycamore. Also the barn on vine st,the cinder block portion of Lighbourne and the old washington park school. :-P Jim Tarbell stepped up to the plate to save the corner building on race st at findlay market when the wall was damaged during rehabilitation. He has saved many buildings around OTR that had structural issues so that they would not be torn down. OTR needs more people like him to save the most vulnerable.
  16. Wrong every building lost is negative for OTR and hurts the future of the neighborhood.
  17. I heard something on NPR the other day, just caught the end of the segment about how in Chicago street gangs are getting into real estate. The gang buys properties and use vacant buildings as safehouses for drugs, guns, prostituion and to control turf. The latin Kings was the gang that was mentioned. I bet this kind of this kind of stuff goes on here too.
  18. I know what you mean westendkid, the same is true if mercer commons in OTR gets the wrecking ball. I moved here to invest in the neighborhood and crap like this gets built in our backyards where so much progress is being made. :wtf:
  19. I love it though uppercase looks better. You should see it lit up from queens tower or summit view over in east price hill. Look's freakin awesome from a distance.
  20. .... You should have pushed the free 10 minute button on the meter.then add .20 thanks for some pics my battery was dead couldn't snap any
  21. Mike, The main goal here is to save the 22 buildings at mercer commons in OTR and I am for either location even though I live closer to scpa. Let's not sling too much poo or we will all lose.
  22. Yeah the paint looks freaking awesome! I can get some pics tommorow on my morning walk.
  23. Yay harriet russell gets the boot! WE win!
  24. Well it looks like the rumor was wrong. Starbucks sent me a reply to my email though :-) It's always a pleasure to hear from our valued customers with such an interest in Starbucks. As you know, we are opening new stores everyday and continually looking to bring the Starbucks Experience into new venues. Unfortunately, I do nothave information either way aboutthe location you described on Liberty St and Reading Rd. However,I will be happy to pass along your suggestion for a newlocation inCincinnatitoour Store Development Department for their consideration if it is not already being considered!Thank you for taking the time to contact Starbucks Coffee Company. Hopefully you will be enjoying Starbucks coffee in your neighborhood soon! Warm Regards, Kristin Customer Relations Representative
