Cincinnati Public Schools: Development and News
I am passing this on..If you watched the I-team report on cps last night you know how important this election is. There are 4 seats on CPS Board available, and here our suggested slate: * Eileen Cooper Reed (first time candidate) former director of local and state Children Defense Fund, atty, teacher (she's awesome actually ・frequently mentions schools belong to the community not the school board ・hurray!) * Susan Cranley (first time candidate) great thinker, excellent communicator, teacher, research librarian, and advocate of lifelong learning ・smart as heck Bill Haase (first time candidate) Financial planner, good listener, good coalition partner with Reed and Cranley * Catherine Ingram (incumbent) She's not exactly a friend but were hoping she beats Harriet Russell and Melanie Bates, the other 2 incumbents running for re-election. The incumbents running for re-election --> we suggesting these folks should retire from serving: Harriet Russell is no friend of ours! Melanie Bates who was interviewed by LQ in her historic house The following board members are not up for re-election this year: Dr Florence Newell, President of the CPS Board (she was interviewed on-camera by LQ) Rick Williams (he's friendly to OTR) John Gilligan Sally Warner (now a lame duck, she decided to not run for re-election this year) Hope this helps! And many thanks for your keen interest. There is a lot at stake.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Washington Park
Frances Newell, CPS Board President) "I have to honestly say I don't have any concern about historic buildings, I know that's not the politically correct response, my concern is about providing buildings for our children today" I almost threw my coffee cup at the tv after that witch said that!!! :whip: What a great job Laure Quinlivan did at exposing 3cdc and cps she is my new favorite person of the year!

Cincinnati: West End: CityLink Center
After contemplating the "Not in my Backyard" theory I think citylink should be located in lower price hill, next to the MSD Metropolitan sewer district plant. Actually where the land that the bengals practice field used to be. Maybe the bengals could donate the land or something If they still own it. Nick Spencer gave up on OTR and moved to hyde park. He still has alchemize bar though and until I hear his final stance on the walnut st demolition of 22 buildings for the new washington park school he doesn't have my vote. I think the carryout's on main st are the biggest problems for milling about in the evenings. I skip walking main st south of kaldis because I am tired of walking around the minefields of spit and defecation the bums and crackdealers leave.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Reading and Liberty Development
Yup! I don't go to starbucks much.. would rather go to Kaldi's, coffee emporium, down here etc. but what a great location if it were true. Can you imagine sipping coffee early in the morning outside and listen to the bell chimes across the street at 8 am from the OTR/Verdin bell tower kewl!! It's not technically in prospect Hill but it is at the base. I was thinking a garden store would be nice there, but a coffee shop is the next best thing even though it would be a starbucks. I am a bit of a dreamer though and they will probably end up a carryout liquor store or something.....

Cincinnati: West End: CityLink Center
I say move the dropin center to the west end, lower price hill or west chester  Go to the sheriffs website and see how many sex offenders list the drop inn center as their place of residence. You can't have that many sex offenders that close to the new SCPA. Isn't there a law keeping distance?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Reading and Liberty Development
REading and liberty is where the old BP gas station and where Calcars home of the $2195 car used to be. If this rumor is true I will be one VERY happy camper. Anybody else hear anything???

Cincinnati: Abandoned and vacant buildings discussion
Sometimes I wonder if people are purchasing properties to keep the area blighted.

Cincinnati: OTR Brewery District
I think It's scary. 3cdc should stick to downtown and stay away from OTR. 3cdc recommended an area in the heart of OTR that included an entire block of 22 buildings to be demolished for the new washington park school. That was a poor decision by them that changed my opinion of them.

As far as I am concerned Hart Realty the old otr slumlord was better for OTR than 3cdc. That was a poor decision by them that changed my opinion of them drastically.

Cincinnati Public Schools: Development and News
All these new schools are supposed to make kids get better grades and graduate? What a waste of money! Schools in west chester and mason, lakota etc expand and build new schools because enrollment is increasing. Cincinnati builds and expands schools when enrollment is decreasing...

Is Over-the-Rhine As Bad As They Say?
[ no doubt...this gets too confusing even for us urbanists! I always say downtown=CBD thats all. If we say that OTR is downtown then that shooting the other night @ 13th and vine was downtown. Some people perceive all the basin and sometimes even the hillside as downtown...we need to change this perception.

These condos have live work spaces .owners can open shop to the public downstairs if they wish, and live upstairs.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Washington Park
What gets me the most on this issue I probably said this 100 times.. is the Wholesale demolition of an entire block of 19th century historic residential buildings (This happening in this countries largest historic district of intact 19th century residential neighborhood. This will decimate the integrity of this historic district)
