  1. Or any Vet of any era. Really strange statement.
  2. I agree. Since most of what I do there is attend football-bball games, I can park for $5, and literally be in my seat in 10 minutes. Want to eat-drink prior to or post game, no problem, again plenty of options in minutes. 5/3rd Arena is a train wreck though. I think the Main Street area turned out great. Not a fan of the Medical Campus set up though. Is what it is. At least for me connectivity, in an Urban Campus, is a bigger deal than Individually designed buildings. Ono is on the right track with wanting Burnett improved and utilized. Seems like a wasted city asset.
  3. What is stopping people from doing that? The lack of surface parking? Here we go with the "let's pave over Burnet Woods," which I guarantee would be the result of giving any of the property to UC. There isn't any tailgating in Clifton. No surface parking anywhere. Utilizing the park would be good though.
  4. I lived in the Clifton area for 10 years and never recall Burnett getting much use. Would be nice to be able to tailgate in there for some Football games. It does seem very underutilized.
  5. MSG should have a really good crowds with UConn playing there.
  6. Yeah lots of tickets will be sold for this game. The Cincy / UK game in Indianapolis was well over 30,000 in 2005.
  7. Duke has now lost 2/3 years to a 14 and a 15 seed, WOW. Kinda glad because K runs his mouth too much. He whined about the Big East getting all of the attentions and getting Big Monday on ESPN, so ESPN helps ACC raid the Big East. Then he runs his mouth about Maryland going to the Big Ten and how bad they are for doing that, and this year he runs his mouth about the A10 getting too many bids. Wasn't the A10 8-2 vs the ACC this year?
  8. That might be the #1 upset that "everyone" is picking. Which makes me think it won't happen. Well, it turned out that "everyone" was right (Gramarye too). And congrats to Dayton for being the final Ohio team remaining in the tourney. I didn't know 2 forwards could miss so many easy shots than Justin Jackson and Titus Rubbles did. I read that in the last whatever games down the stretch Jackson was 4-21 on FTs and in the Harvard game he 5-15 from the field, most at point blank range. I thought Craft was going to make that basket against UD, congrats can't get higher than a Dayton Flyer.
  9. That might be the #1 upset that "everyone" is picking. Which makes me think it won't happen. Hope UC wins. MSU is at full strength now, nobody injured. Adrian Payne is a great player.
  10. Not if X fans buy tickets, have to think they will?
  11. There are maybe 5-7 ? that have not been sold or finished, more so on the higher end, above 2 Million.
  12. On a Thursday night complete with plenty of emotion and tears as senior captains Sean Kilpatrick, Justin Jackson and Titus Rubles played their last game at Fifth Third Arena, a sellout crowd of 13,176 watched them work their magic to end a two-game losing streak with a convincing 97-84 victory over No.20 Memphis. The three seniors combined for 71 points with no turnovers after they were honored before the game, with both Kilpatrick and Jackson fighting back tears as they walked onto the court to meet coach Mick Cronin. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/college/university-of-cincinnati/2014/03/06/uc-wins-memphis-senior-night-97-84/6148227/ Tom Gelehrter ‏@Tommy_G ·2 hrs I wasn't there, but I am told Sam Longo just hammered out 47 reps on the bench press on #Bearcats NFL Pro Day. Side note, 47 reps of 225 is nuts. Tom Gelehrter ‏@Tommy_G ·2 hrs To put Sam Longo's 47 reps (at 225) on the bench in perspective, the next closest Bearcat was Jordan Stepp with 27. #NFL https://twitter.com/Tommy_G
  13. To oppose every project that improves downtown so that in 2017, he can say, "I fought for the neighborhoods instead of wasting money downtown." True. Also, somehow I feel it has to do with his boosters and or future plans. He doesn't want the core to thrive, he wants to keep pleasing the outer ring. Which is kind of more in line with what you said. But what do you think of him being anti-urban and pushing a more suburban agenda to please voters on a possible future run for congress or senate? Cranley is not anti Downtown he is negotiating a new deal. Look at the great deal he got for his Price Hill Development. He has a new Client now. The one he still owes $70,000 on? I thought only Liz Rodgers doesn't pay her loans. I seriously doubt that Cranley owes $70,00 on a loan to the city. The LLC might owe that, but it just proves my point in the banks thread. Clowncil makes awful deals.

  15. The real lesson is don't go into ANY debt to start a business of this kind, especially hundreds of thousands of dollars. It doesn't work, especially when you're competing in an industry where most people start with cash from investors or family money that never has to be repaid. Those people are only paying rent, not rent + payments on a loan. Why don't people realize this? Sit down with a piece of paper and a calculator and sketch out your numbers, then the numbers of the guy next to you at The Banks who isn't writing a $4,000 check at the end of each month. He gets to use that $4,000 on advertising, to save for eventual renovations, or to save to start a second location. Your $4,000 is disappearing into thin air and you have almost no money left over to do any of the things your competitor is doing. The real lesson is don't trust city council who has zero expertise in these matters. the taxpayers funded Liz to the tune of 1 Million dollars. The other operators at the Banks have lines of credit they are using. If a family member loans you money and you don't repay the loan it is up to the damaged party to work this out. The only operator at the Banks who is delinquent on a loan to the taxpayers is Liz Rogers. Liz Rogers has a massive free start advantage over everybody else at The Banks. She can't run a business and turn a profit, she never has. $300,000 loan, $685,000 Grant for a $3,500 Sq. Ft. restaurant that is absurd.
  16. It is impossible to get 30 year loans. You can't even get 10 year loans in commercial real estate on developments like this. It you are super successful a developer might be in the black 4 years after construction is complete. However there are many REITS that hold onto their developments forever.
  17. He is a bond and finance attorney. Thinks the city can get a better deal done with 4th and Race.
  18. In all fairness though, sometimes the overhead compartments in a lot of smaller planes aren't shaped to allow for anything other than the smallest luggage to fit. I have a medium-to-small sized rolling carry-on luggage that is what I take whenever I travel and have found that on most planes it's fine to fit into the compartment perpendicular to the aisle, but on some of the smaller planes I've been in the back of the compartment slopes so much that it wouldn't be able to fit even if the luggage was empty. Granted, on these flights they've also gladly taken my luggage and did jetway pickup since they knew that normal sized luggage wouldn't fit unless you turned it parallel with the aisle. This could probably also all be solved by having accurate size tests for luggage before boarding... In the commuter jets, Embrarer ERJs/ Canandair CRJs, they pretty much take any luggage at the jetway, the storage compartments are small.
  19. I hope the banners, ropes ect., they used are 100% recycled and eco friendly. Probably posed as window washers.
  20. Isn't the primary reason airlines started charging, for non carry on luggage, "weight". Person 1 buys a ticket and brings 1 carry on, person 2 buys a ticket and brings a carry on and 2 giant suitcases (they create 3 times the weight of person 1). Reason #2 airlines want to make as much money as possible.
  21. Actually, I wish airlines would charge for carry-ons and not for checked-baggage. Think about how much time it takes to board a flight now that everyone is trying to avoid checked-baggage fees. There are always people roaming the aisle, looking for a place to cram in a bag, as well as someone arguing with a flight attendant about how whether their carry-on is oversized and needs to be checked. The airlines have incentivized delays with these checked-baggage fees. Happy to have Allegiant and Frontier, but I agree with you about wanting more flight options out of CVG. Also, CVG needs to stop teasing these announcements when they're just going to be 2 additional destinations from a carrier that already has a presence. I keep hoping it's another carrier or a large commitment from one of the existing ones. And many people are clueless about how to stow the carry on luggage. They put the luggage in the overhead storage area the wrong way.
  22. Every little bit helps. I checked out the Precinct, The county has that valued at $881,000 and he pays over $27,000 in real estate taxes annually. Have to think boat/barge maintenance on a large restaurant has to be pretty significant.
  23. Winburn is a coot, but he also said, Cindi Andrews ‏@cindiincincy 1h We need to stand behind Toby Keith; we need to stand behind Johnny Rocket's; we need to stand behind Mahogany's, Winburn says. Cindi Andrews ‏@cindiincincy 59m Mahogany's is only biz at The Banks that the city has an active loan out to. Expand Cindi Andrews is a good tweeter. nice find thanks
  24. According to that blog post on the state of Covington's floating attractions, the rent for the Waterfront was only $75K a year. That is quite low for that kind of restaurant square footage let alone on something novel like a boat. I know of some spots in mall food courts that are paying about the same. I think Ruby owns the boat/barge, and the "lease" is for dock space at Covington Landing. Covington gets a cut of his gross revenue also. Almost seems more like a loan repayment program.
