Kentucky and Indiana Terminal Bridge
Anybody drive over that bridge connecting Madison In and Kentucky? After I watched the Mothman movie, that bridge spooked me. It is a tight fit. Good news is heading into Madison as soon as you cross the bridge you bump right into a liquor store.

Guess the pics
Even in newer barracks there is still fire guard duty, at least one person awake at all times. During the winter those WWl WWll era barracks would get pretty dam chilly. My old battalion did some field training at Ft. Knox in old barracks during the winter.

Guess the pics
Man I thought someone would figure it out. "Harmony Church", Ft. Benning Ga. I liked to older barracks better than the newer barracks, which were nicknamed starships, located in the Sand Hill area of Ft. Benning.

Guess the pics
Okay, one poster mentioned a drill sergeant badge. Very good observation as this training area was indeed, from the outset, for Basic-AIT. The buildings were demoed in the early 90's. A new training barracks area was constructed on this base in the late 70's early 80's, down the road. The new training area's name shares the same name as a famous road in Silicon Valley, where venture capitalists, Biotech, Telcom, Semiconductor, and internet companies have all set up shop over the years. Again we are looking for the name of the older training area. I did basic and ait and the older training area back in the mid 80's.

Funniest thing I've read in a long time
1) Not funny. 40 pages, then "White", that person loses immediately. That kid will grow up thinking he is incapable of doing wrong, which is why he got slapped. Google Curtis Bowen in 10 years, lets see how he turns out. That Mom is nuts. 2) Very funny

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
The interesting item of note for many metro areas is some of the aging and declining older suburban areas. The housing inventory in some of these neighborhoods has declined and who are the future buyers or residents?

Career Networking / Job Posting Thread
I don't know Neville..............but you might want to look at some of the mega architectural engineering firms, most will be publicly traded. I am talking about the firms that do really big projects like URS Corporation and their competitors. In this economy I wouldn't be concerned with "transportation" only, just get in somewhere. Large Commercial real estate developers might be an option, Hines etc. research "REITs", real estate investment trusts. I am in the Commercial RE consulting brokerage business, and you do see some former Architects, lawyers, Urban Planning types move over to this industry. The larger firms are JLL, CBRE, Colliers, Cushman Wakefield, etc. Individual offices vary quite a bit. I am a 89' DAAP grad.

Performance Place, Dayton
Performance Place was finished about 2004, 166,000 Sq. Ft. 18 stories, each floor is about 9,200 sq. ft. It is a mixed use property, residential condos and office space. Also attached to the Schuster Performing Arts Center. I think Pelli and GBBN teamed up on the design? What do you think of the design or architectural aspects (Emporis has more http://www.emporis.com/application/?nav=building&lng=3&id=101068). If you know of any companies/tenants that might need 4,000-18,000 sq. ft. of office space in Downtown Dayton drop me a note. :type:

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Basketball Discussion
Funny looking at the beginning of the topic, from years ago. Huggs has already had a sweet 16 and a final four with WVU since Nancy's hit and run job.

Ohio River towns
The guy also owns the Bank Building. Might as well live there. He probably got tired of his house, yard work, shoveling snow, etc.

Urban Active or L.A. Fitness?
Belonged to Urban Active for many years, Skytop Mt. Washington. It was OK. They closed this location back in October. They didn't make it easy to cancel a membership.

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
http://cincinnati.com/blogs/economics/2011/01/01/a-decade-of-job-losses-for-ohio-and-kentucky/ Here are some crazy numbers for Austin, and Texas overall is listed also. Austin MSA added 500,000 new residents over the past 10 years. http://www.austinchamber.com/DoBusiness/...ation.html

The "Destruction" of Downtown Detroit...
Was in Downtown Detroit a few years ago. Very attractive downtown. Weeknight, so it was a little quiet. As Jeffrey mentioned it seemed too empty. My guess is that there isn't much residential inventory.

Anybody guess where these were taken, what was the location called (prior to being torn down)?

Ohio River towns
Only made it to Huntington twice, for the same project. I liked Downtown and the proximity of Marshall to Downtown. Kind of funny that I am Huntington looking at office buildings one day (most are older) and then touring space at BofA One Bryant Park, LEED Platinum in NYC, or multiple properties in the LOOP, Nashville, Louisville, Cincy etc. Pretty lucky in that regard. I am a little bit of a sucker for River Cities though.

Ohio River towns
That is the top of the Guaranty Bank Building. The residence is also built on the roof, not part of the regular top floor. The owner invited me up to his "penthouse", good guy. June of 09' I toured a bunch of buildings, for a client, in Huntington. There was some decent activity related to newer restaurant/bars, newer renovations. Maybe Marshall U students drive some of that?

Ohio River towns
Private residence, top floor of the one of the old bank buildings in Huntington.

West Baden Springs Hotel
Long time lurker, not sure if anyone has covered the West Baden Springs Hotel before. Pictures really don't do this gem justice. West Baden is essentially French Lick Ind. There is also a Casino in the same complex. The resort is world class and pricing is very reasonable. If you gamble, they comp very liberally. Cincy - Hidden History
Wow, Although I have not been to Northside lately I recognized that picture. That is the house where my Mother grew up. Back in the 37' flood the water reached the second floor windows.
