  1. on Fountain Square primarily, but it gets clubby. I went there for 4th of July and fireworks. I was sitting at an outside table with a group from 30-75 years old. "Bouncer" comes up and says I gotta take my UC BBall hat off or leave. Dress code gangsta violation. Mynt is nice in that the outdoor area is nice, outdoor grill burgers/metts, ok casual food. They blast the music too loud. They could do a heck of lot better for sure.

For the most part Winter in SW Ohio has been mild this year. Two more weeks until I hit the DR
  3. In case there are any Chicago travelers, "frequent" Ultimate Air is advertising on website google adds, unlimited monthly flights to Chicago and back for $1,500. Lunken only.
  4. UC sells section 127 and some of 126 for visiting fans, near the end zone so they have a good view. What they often do is give 20-30 pee wee football teams the east side lower seats.
  5. They were very much so under capacity at Paul Brown. They should never, ever play games there again, even if it means the big schools won't come to town (Oklahoma a few years ago wouldn't play at Nippert, neither would Ohio State). Though if UC gets picked up by the Big 12 as has been rumored, Oklahoma, Texas, etc. wouldn't have a choice. At Nippert they sell out big games, and games during nice weather. Against teams like Tulane, Temple, SMU, etc. they are a few thousand under capacity, despite the fact that they win nearly every home game they play. I think next year many of the games will sell out because of the new stadium, especially if UC does well again. If UC ends up in the Big 12 I think sellouts will become routine. Agreed, multiple sellouts next year at Nippert. Also it is almost impossible to "sell" those first 5 rows along the sidelines. You can barely see the field of play. I heard no Calhoun, maybe doing Short Vine. Still hopeful that UC can use Burnett Woods for tailgating one day somehow. A person can dream.

  7. This.
  8. Nothing in print for sure, but lots of rumors in the industry. Corporex has developed some great locations and buildings, but they seem to be highly leveraged all of the time. No room for error or losing a certain % of tenants/leases. Rivercenter 1, 300,000 RSF, 120,000 vacant Rivercenter 2, 250,000 RSF, 150,000 vacant (100,000 is for sublease but that ends in 1 year) Madison Place, 290,000 RSF, 290,000 vacant Years ago Humana was in Grand Baldwin, and growing so Corporex built the single user Humana building across the street for them. So you didn't lose them, but the Grand B LLC certainly did.
  9. They won't get financed for that much of a portion of office space. Butler gave the Baldwin Complex back to the lender last year and he is ready to lose Rivercenter also. Would not be surprised to see that get into the courts. But he does make $$$ refinancing these projects. Dan Neyer should just follow his bread crumbs.
  10. You live there? Me jealous lol. What ever happened with the Trump condo building it was vacant for years? BTW I am skipping USA for vacation this year. Going to Santo Domingo DR.
  11. Agree with everything you said. However in a recent development I wonder if Messer is interested in moving to the remaining Banks office site now? http://www.cincinnati.com/story/money/2015/01/21/messer-construction-looking-to-move/22109203/ "The company wants the new site to have high visibility and easy access from major interstates, easy access to community amenities and services, and be located in a vibrant or improving neighborhood. Also important is safety, having open space for collaboration, and ample parking, according to the statement." Do those tea leaves read like the Banks? I bet they do Oakley/Hyde Park, Oakley Station. I would not rule out Downtown. The Banks has no available product. GE is taking the entire building, yes? They will get some sticker shock. Have to think whatever they are leasing now is cheap.
  12. CDawg, I like your posts about SF and NorCal, and how that compares to Cincy or other places. Regarding Austin, having UT there is one reason it grew so much. Graduates could stay and find good work. UT is an insane machine, they have like 20 billion dollar endowment and the city welcomes all things UT. I would like to see the City of Cincy embrace UC much more as it is the largest employer in the region or close to it. Really dumb to not get the streetcar route to uptown UC in phase 1.
  13. Nice pics, really like Ft. Lauderdale. Have gone there multiple times in recent years. FLL airport is also located close to the beach area and the port. Allegiant has cheap flights out of CVG heading down there. 2 restaurants I like there, Casablanca Cafe
  14. Pic of Boston 1860's ...from a hot air ballon? Young Bin Laden, much of the arabic muslim world was becoming Western, in case you noticed the clothes., until the Zealots took over.
  15. Changes in area demographics have much to do with killing malls and retail centers. There is a closed mall around 10th and Shadeland in Indy. Everything, big box, HomeDepot, went further East into Warren Twp. I rarely go to Malls anymore. Macys in Florence, and Eastgate off of 275 a couple of times a year (never crowded).

So I got this from a Syracuse fan on my sports message board. I would love to hear some insiders' perspectives as to what makes Cincy great - both objectively and subjectively. So please share your opinion, stories, and so on. Feel free to chime in and I can share over there. One reply was interesting, I've lived all of my adult life in two cities - Denver and Portland Over the past 20 years, Denver and Portland (like a handful of other cities) have turned their urban cores into creative, vibrant places without having much history to play with. Cincinnati is now enjoying this same revival, but has the architectural bones remaining that will make it one of the most exciting, interesting places to be over the coming decades.
  17. I live close, so thanks for the heads up.
  18. That type of restaurant should do really well there.
  19. Aaron Rodgers cheats also, http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/0...story.html At least one official touches the football on every play, yet none seemed to notice until halftime. The Patriots led, 17-7, at intermission, and outscored the Colts, 28-0, after the officials seemingly corrected the ball issue Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers likes to overinflate the football. When the Packers and Patriots played on Nov. 30, CBS broadcaster Phil Simms relayed a conversation he had with Rodgers. “He said something which was unique. ‘I like to push the limit to how much air we can put in the football, even go over what they allow you to do, and see if the officials take the air out of it,’” Simms said of Rodgers. “Because he thinks it’s easy for him to grip. He likes them tight.” http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/01/20/nfl-says-patriots-used-under-inflated-footballs/7UlPZI3eotRTBadM89saeO/story.html
  20. Yeah I don't get it. College fans and pro fans both do it after their team wins a championship.
  21. Long time ago. ESPN has been in control for years, and they also "own" some of the bowl games. They created many bowl games.
  22. Miller will be announcing his departure shortly after the national title game. No way does he stick around OSU with a crowded QB competition. Where he ends up is totally a guess. I agree he'll probably never be an NFL QB, but I think he's more talented than RG3, Terrell Pryor, Jamarcus Russell, Tim Tebow, Troy Smith and a dozen other dudes who made at least some money in the NFL If he is he will get drafted. Of the guys you mentioned the only ones who looked like an NFL QB was Russell. The Scouts in the NFL are pretty savvy, case in point the Ravens drafted Flacco in Round 1 out of Delaware State. Braxton does not look an NFL QB to me, talented player though. But then you get undrafted free agents making pro bowls all the time, like Jason Kelce with the Eagles. The Bengals took Eifert at TE over Travis Kelce (round 3) although Eifert is a route running TE and Kelce is the total package. The difference one had a ND jersey the other a Bearcat jersey.

Sign of the apocalypse? Hipster have invaded Birmingham Alabama. Damn it's hard (and expensive) to be an Alabama hipster, A friend of mine just left town. The place was changing, he complained. "I moved here to get away from the hipsters," he said. "Bastards followed me." So he sold his loft, grabbed his guitar and his funny hat and left Birmingham to pursue his mid-life doctorate. And I just shook my head. Because I know that the first stage of hipsteria is denial. Hipsters hate hipsters. Almost as much as they hate national restaurant chains and genetically modified foods. hipMan short.jpgBirminghipster Ian Hoppe acknowledges his own hipster tendencies. Which might just mean he's not as hipster as we thought. (Justin Yurkanin) But he's right about Birmingham. It is becoming Hipsterham.................... http://www.al.com/bhammag/index.ssf/2015/01/damn_its_hard_and_expensive_to.html#incart_river
