  1. Agree, and as long as the region remains uber infested with Democrats it will never change, probably get worse. Bigger and more levels of government the better.

Kizer was picked at the right spot by the right team. Prototypical size and great arm playing in a cancerous situation under Kelly who probably gets fired this year. Hopefully he sits at least the entire year while Kessler starts, who himself could surprise this year with a better OL and actual practices with the 1st team.

Friends don't let friends draft Big 12 QB's.

I'm giving the Browns a C+ for the 1st round. Garrett was a gimme pick and I do like the 20 year-old Njoku and his upside, but didn't like the Peppers pick because he's a tweener, not a natural FS. Thankfully they didn't take the bait on a mediocre crop of QB's in the 1st round. Davis Webb could be in play today.

Good to see the Browns apparently finally have a FO that understands the proper way to build a team, which is build a good team then worry about QB's. Not only will any rookie have a better chance of succeeding, it also increases any odds attracting good FA QB's when they become available. Sure beats the draft QB's early and often approach and pray that he can singlehandedly resurrect this clunker of a franchise.
  6. So people from a once Democrat controlled area of Ohio should move to Republican controlled states for a better life, makes sense.. There is a name for these type of people, people that just want a job to support a family, they are called deplorables.

We have differing opinions. Saying Houston would be a good hockey town would be like saying Atlanta would be a good hockey town. Atlanta has lost 2 NHL franchises, because like Houston it is not a hockey town. Cleveland could support an NHL team, no doubt about it..

Based on what? Cleveland out-draws Houston (Texas Stars) almost 2-1 in AHL hockey and out-draws the Toronto AHL team, the rest of these cities don't even have an AHL team. http://www.hockeydb.com/nhl-attendance/att_graph_season.php?lid=AHL1941&sid=2017

Of course. Yet there's still something about the Browns finally having the first overall pick and being able to get the QB they want. I do think the Browns will pick Garrett (the Williams hire likely tipped their hand) but I wouldn't be surprised if they made a trade to move up to have two top-10 picks, and the second would be a QB. I could see a trade up from #12, and the QB they take Kizer.

I want whatever player is considered by the consensus as the best available player, no more of the smartest guys in the room crap. A trade down is ok, but not below #5, the Browns need quality over quantity at this point.

I just hope the Browns finally focus on drafting the best player available, for once. That doesn't mean best QB available either. Good "teams" win in the NFL, not good QB's. Also, of the 8 remaining playoff teams, here is how they got their QB's which proves you can find a good QB anywhere. Cowboys - 4th round (their backup Tony Romo was a UDFA) Packers - 24th overall pick Seahawks - 3rd round Falcons - 3rd overall pick (1 playoff win in 8 years) Patriots - 6th round Chiefs - via trade of 2nd round pick Texans - FA Steelers - 11th overall pick Build a good team by acquiring the best available players via draft and FA and you will find your QB like the current playoff teams have done; trade, FA, late-round, mid-round, late 1st, mid-1st, etc.. Even the last several SB winners have proven this; Denver got theirs via FA (good team that attracted a good QB), Patriots 6th rounder, Seahawks 3rd rounder, etc.. Do not keep pinning all your hopes on a single 21-22 year old to come in and single-handedly resurrect what is probably the worst franchise in all of sports.

Wait, the Browns have a "solid" D? Then why did they give up a score on virtually every opening drive, and rated in the bottom three in essentially every category? Maybe you meant to say "solid crap"?

I'd be okay with a trade down from #1 to 5-6, but no further than that. At this point they need some quality starters as opposed to roster fillers. I also hope they package all of those 4-7th round picks to get more early picks. With five picks in the top 65, I'm expecting 2-3 day one starters and 2-3 more players starting by year end out of this upcoming class.

All were defensive linemen drafted first overall. And all were busts. Mario Williams was not a bust. What do these players have in common? Jeff George Tim Couch David Carr Jamarcus Russell Sam Bradford Jared Goff (probably) All were QB's drafted 1st overall and all were busts. And I was being nice by not including Alex Smith and Carson Palmer. For sure, there are no locks. And I'm not necessarily advocating taking a QB or anyone else over the top two consensus prospects (Garrett and Allen). I was merely pointing out that EVERY defensive player selected first overall in the last 25 years, who all happened to be DL, were pretty much busts. You listed several QBs over that same time frame who were busts. But you didn't include Peyton Manning, Michael Vick, Eli Manning, Matthew Stafford, Cam Newton, and Andrew Luck. My point was that, while people often talk about over-inflated draft values for QBs, it appears the same (if not worse) over-valuing applies to DL. The league has this fascination with certain positions in the draft - QB, DL, OT, CB - probably in that order. It seems the risks of taking a QB are accepted, but anytime a DL is ranked that high he gets the "can't miss" tag.... which hasn't proven to be all that reliable. I'm not completely against taking a QB high either if he's as close to a sure thing as possible, but there have been as many if not more bust QB's taken at #1 than good players. There haven't been many defensive players taken #1 overall in the past 30 years so the sample size is small but there have been some good one's like Bruce Smith and Mario Williams so we can't say that "all" defensive players taken #1 have been busts, and if the book isn't written on Goff yet, it's not on Clowney either. I also know there are many defensive players that teams wished they had taken #1 overall, many of them recently.

The 49ers gave up on Alex Smith after 5 years, that's why they drafted Kaepernick. Carson Palmer has won "1" playoff game in 12-13 years. I doubt those were the results expected with them being #1 overall picks. I know Palmer only winning one playoff game is not all on him because it takes a good team (not a good QB) to win in the NFL (just ask Andrew Luck), but I bring him up only because I know there are many out there that think good QB's are all you need to win. Goff is just a hunch, same hunch I had pre-draft.
