CLEVELAND - Shame Shame I know your name!
Walked down W. 65th to Edgewater park on Saturday since it was so beautiful out. The wind was pretty wicked, but the worst part of the journey was the bike path at the end of W. 65th down to the park. I'm guessing they just abandon it in the winter months? If I was a kid with a sled, that would've been one sweet ride, but my silly wife and I decided to bring our baby and a running stroller... so, yes, it was off-roading time! The path through the park itself had been plowed pretty recently, but the wind had blown snow over a fair portion of it. Can't fault the State Parks folks for that, though.

need an advice
Hey, welcome to Cleveland! I work in University Circle, which is home to the Cleveland Clinic and many other healthcare, education, and arts & culture destinations. So, I have to plug the living options in the neighborhood, though they might not suit you perfectly: http://universitycircle.org/content/live_here.asp and a beautiful building about a five-minute walk to the Clinic: www.parklanevilla.com I agree that the ideal spots for you, based on what you've said previously, would be Shaker Square and several neighborhoods in Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights. I'm not the expert on their rental markets, but I know that Montlack Realty has several apartment buildings in the neighborhoods I would recommend. Have a look: www.montlackrealty.com

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
I still have no idea how to post photos....but JetDog has access to a bunch I took, so I am sure he will post them just as soon as his 40 other priorities are taken care of. He in charge of making sure all new timetables for the March 23 service changes are posted asap, so please excuse him if he is a bit MIA every now and then. As far as I'm concerned, your (both of you) participation on UrbanOhio is above and beyond the call of duty. You are to be commended!

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Peabody, I was the one who asked this question earlier and you're right that it's been an issue again the past few weeks... especially with the thaw and freeze that's been happening. My walks to and from the station or bus have been treacherous because of property owners who aren't shoveling their sidewalks, but when I got to the W.65th Street station on Friday and nearly bit it crossing the pedestrian bridge from Madison to the station house, I was pissed! That bridge was a huge choppy ice block and if it were flat, that would be bad enough, but there's a ramp too and that was just as bad. Again, I thank my lucky stars that I'm in good physical form, but when I'm a bit older and can't right myself mid-fall, things are going to get ugly! Also, another comment sent in via the online submission form two weeks back and another no-response. Who am I supposed to report that to?

Cleveland: Leap Night, East Bank of the Flats
I was down there with wife and baby and saw lots of friends, including cd-cleveland, who protected many people from exploding fire pits! The crowd was decent while I was there between 8 and 9 and was definitely larger when I left. I heard several people commenting on what a cool idea it was, though I got the sense that they thought it hadn't lived up to its potential. It was positive thinking, though. Of the nature that this is the first try and something like this could be developed and enhanced annually. Oh, and props to the organizers for getting Gypsy to do the food/drink... nothing like a hot cup of chili and some cider to warm your belly on a cold February night! My pics don't offer much more than what you've already posted, but I'll add a few anyway:

hot damn! What a start to free agency! Savage has been a busy boy the past two years.

Cleveland: The Park Building
Exactly... I hear they are fairly far along on the inside so I would expect to see some work going on in the storefront soon. Sorry, I was referring to the apartments, but either way I would assume the answer is the same.
-
Cleveland: The Park Building
well, they weren't exactly "boarded up," but I agree that a viable ground floor tenant who will keep the lights on is a plus. Great news about the sales! I wait for the bus on Ontario some days and don't see the flurry of activity that I would expect, but I'm assuming work is going on inside?

Creative meeting space in Cleveland
Doesn't look like anyone mentioned Trinity Cathedral yet: http://www.trinitycleveland.org/about/building.html I know a lot of local groups have their meetings there. They have a great assortment of large to small private rooms, have on-site catering and an attached cafe (Ah-roma) that has great food too.

Ohio's Grandest City
There are more than a few CSU Levin College grads on here, so take advantage. And please don't let CSU's website be the sole factor that informs your decision! PS: great shots! You really did cover a lot of ground... including my home and work neighborhoods and points in between and beyond!

A Piece of Cleveland
Hadn't thought of that! It's a good idea, but I'd vote for Gordon Square, since it's closer to me! It's all about the proprietors, though, and I really don't know if they aspire to having their own retail location. I'm sure hearing from prospective customers wouldn't hurt!

A Piece of Cleveland
bingo! perfect spot for a few pieces. And yes, I hope they grow enough to have their own shop eventually, but maybe that's not what they want? You know where they'd be perfect??? In the old Lou's Furniture store on Detroit! Recycled furniture, recycled building, the whole deal!

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Does the mosaic need to be installed in order for them to start serving beer? That's one thing I haven't understood about this venue from a business perspective. You'd think with all the buzz around them that they'd want to open by one of their "projected" dates before people completely give up. And they've spent how much money without a single sale yet? Open up already and make yourself some moo-la!

Cleveland- Painter's Union Apartments
While this end of W. 25th is not what I'd call a "pleasant" place to walk, there are alternatives. I'd take the quiter route from Detroit, along W. 28th, through Franklin Circle and along W. 28th to Bridge or Carroll or wherever your destination is.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: Old St. George Redevelopment
I lived on Ohio Ave in 1999 and worked at Baba Budan's, while my girlfriend worked at Myra's. Two good friends of mine got married at Old St. George in 2003 and it was remarkable. They were devastated when the fire hit, but are optimistic that this resilient and beautiful structure will endure!

Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
Map Boy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI'm impressed with the riverside location and the views, but surprised at how few are sold at opening... what are the pre-sales requirements in Columbus anyways? More questions from an ignorant up-stater... what kind of action can you see on the river? Barges? Leisure boats? Also, I'll bet this building will look fantastic at night when the units start lighting up... I'm assuming no shots of this exist yet?

Cleveland - next UrbanOhio forum meet will be....
I'm sure it did! But it was all for the good of urban Ohio, so we should be happy that so much progress was made over lunch today!

Cleveland: Port Authority News & Info
Not to mention minimizing the impacts to existing parkland and waterfront access from Dike 14 and Gordon Park, west to the new port facilities. The bike path goes through there and the existing parks can't be overlooked.

Cleveland: Stonebridge Phase 5
Great article in the PD this morning. I learned that the artist who did the Cleveland skyline piece (which I still haven't seen yet) is the former owner of my house!

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
This is just one piece of the pie, but ... I understand that loaning $15 million to the purchaser of your building is nothing to sneeze at, but it can also be a decent investment for the County if it's not a subsidized loan, but is more along the lines of a market rate loan. Not only do they sell the building, but they can recoup the loan payments + interest for years. If I'm off on this, please correct me! As for the 1010 and Truman buildings... I think both are fetching and ideal in size and scale for Euclid Ave. In fact, I like the Truman building more than 1010... there's more detail to the facade. Either way, they'd both make good rehabs, but I'm not the one trying to place tenants and make the numbers work! One note from the link Confiteordeo posted above... the listing says occupancy is 100%... wha???
