Cleveland: Little Italy Neighborhood Discussion
You know, done right, there are some pretty solid grade glass products that can keep the noise out quite effectively. I'm sure that will be a concern for every buyer who looks out the west facing windows and I would hope that the developer is accounting for it. That said, the west facing views should be killer, so those units should have lots of appeal!

The Carnegie Medical Building is listed on this week's Landmarks Commission agenda as a Cleveland Landmark nomination. Not sure what this means exactly, but it's something. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/photo/021408/index.html

Cleveland Browns Discussion
shameful... Quinn part of rowdy group outside Columbus bar, witness says Posted by Aaron Marshall February 13, 2008 06:12AM Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn was part of a group of men shouting insults at gay passers-by outside a Columbus bar early on New Year's Day, according to a 9-1-1 call made to police. The call at 2:35 a.m. came from Seth Harris, who reported that he encountered the group in front of La Fogata Grill at 790 North High St. The Mexican restaurant is next door to the Union Cafe Bar + Food, one of Columbus' most popular gay bars in the gay-friendly Short North neighborhood. More, including the 911 call, at http://blog.cleveland.com/plaindealer/2008/02/brady_quinn_part_of_rowdy_grou.html

Ghost Signs - Brick Walls Signs
There was a pretty sizable exhibit of this stuff on the walls of Talkies in Cleveland's Market Square recently. Not sure if it's still there, but it was cool.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Not a bad thought at all. Huntington is massive, has the grandeur you mentioned, has a garage, has the location they wanted all along... who owns it and how much space could they really put together? I've got to imagine that it'd be a lot more economical than tearing down a 29-story building and starting from scratch!

Clinton v. Obama
With the Republican nomination all but wrapped up, there's still quite a bit of dueling left between the two remaining Democratic candidates. Who will you vote for on March 4th?

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Impressive site. Lots of information on the neighborhood and the unit specs. The units look good, but I'm sure would impress much more in person! And yes, MayDay, I hope you got paid!

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
Editorial from the PD: Editorial: Gov. Strickland and ODOT must quit stalling on West Shoreway The West Shoreway project is something Cleveland needs; Strickland and ODOT have long-standing promises to keep Wednesday, February 13, 2008 There is no possible excuse Strickland, Fisher and ODOT can concoct for not proceeding. Quit stalling The West Shoreway project is something Cleveland needs; Strickland and ODOT have long-standing promises to keep The decision by Gov. Ted Strickland's ad ministration to delay - or scuttle alto gether - an important Cleveland highway project shows a stunning insensitivity to this community's needs. If Strickland and Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher - who at last check still lived around here - care even a little bit about the people of Cleveland's neighborhoods, they'll see to it that the Ohio Department of Transportation stops trying to kill vital highway projects here that have been planned for nearly a decade.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Walked by it this morning and it does look great! I'm excited to see their signage/awnings, as it will liven up the Euclid face of the Hanna that has been dead for some time.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
As was mentioned in another CSU thread, the restaurant in the new administration building is now open for breakfast and lunch: http://www.csuohio.edu/news/releases/2008/02/14431.html. Also, the juice/snack bar in the rec center is now open!

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Not to be a brat, but this isn't technically part of the College Town development. I would put it in the CSU thread: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,2289.0.html

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Yes, Reserve Square will have more selection, but is still a few blocks farther than you probably want to walk with a lot of groceries. Certainly try both out and keep in mind that you can hop on the free downtown trolley on W. 6th with your groceries and get home to E. 4th without too much hassle. The B-line trolley will get you to Reserve Square, but on the return route, it'll take a little longer, as the line completes its loop before getting back to Public Square. Still, both are good options if your arms are full!

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Very exciting! Do we have any details on what the facade is going to look like? It sounds like they're waiting to hear about tax credits before doing that work. This could provide a strong visual link between Public Square and E. 4th.

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
My take was that new spots got featured on the other thread (as well as comments from visitors to the new spots), but that this was for ongoing and existing locales.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Wow, MayDay... you are far more ambitious than I am! I spent about 15 minutes last weekend trying to put something together and gave up. I'll get back to it sometime. Guv, this new upscale shop... how was it received? I'm sure you remember the proposal to do something similar with the old Middle Eastern Imports shop on W. 25th that was eventually canned because of the shady owner/developer. I know there's a history of ill will towards booze on Detroit, since they "dried" it up in the 80s, but I think if this is done right, it can be a huge improvement upon what's there now. That, in my opinion, is one of the most intimidating parts of Detroit to walk at night, even though it's just a little gap in the fabric! Any talk of them having a sit-down establishment to go with the carry-out?

Cleveland nightshotz - Feb. 7, 2008
Hilarious, MayDay! Great shots, KJP! Way to show your pops a good night out on the town. Too bad (or maybe good) the Cavs were in Houston, 'cause those streets would've been even more jammed if they were playing at the Q!

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
Sorry, not a response to the above. Though, I will admit that finding good delivery pizza on the Near-West-Side isn't easy! And then try finding any pizza place that's open on Saturday before 4:00! My small family and I went to Dish Global Deli (www.dishglobaldeli.com) on West 25th Street last night before heading over to the new exhibit at Cleveland Public Art. Everyone was super friendly and the food was dee-licious! The menu offers plenty of savory yummies for both veggies and carnies alike. I loved the decor... lots of brick and little bamboo shoots sprouting out of the wall... we'll definitely go back!

FYI, NBBJ did Adobe's campus, so they have experience in this capacity.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
This is what I've had in mind for Scranton Peninsula for some time, but it appears quite relevant to this discussion: http://www.bizjournals.com/seattle/stories/1996/08/12/story1.html?t=printable Adobe's Fremont campus is a good example of an office headquarters fitting large-scale economic development into a neighborhood, while at the same time maintaining and enhancing waterfront access. I couldn't find any great photos, but you know how to do an image search, right?

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
I believe they wanted to open by the end of the year or earlier in 2008, but the holiday permitting process slowed them up. Great news!
