******Initiating Mandatory Jerk Alert Retort****** You know what "erks" me? When someone who's correcting someone else spell words incorrectly in their correction! :-P ******Jerk Alert Retort Complete*******
  2. Phase one of this project is going up quickly! If you go down W. 7th these days, you'll see several buildings nearing completion and almost everything fronting the sidewalk on 7th with frames up. I'm happy with what I'm seeing! The renderings above don't do it justice... I'll get some pics one of these days!
  3. Still no response from RTA to my letter from about a month ago. You'd think they'd at least have a form letter they could use... Great to see they're updating their maps. Now, let's get 'em up on the shelters!
  4. On a side note, the NCB plans for Stokes & Euclid were not well received at Design Review and presumably were not popular at the Planning Commission either. Anyone make it to their presentations on Thurs/Fri?
  5. I'm sorry, but as someone who appreciates aesthetics and the way a building or space make me feel first and foremost and the merits of architectural technique and style second, I have to say that I am very pleased with the new CWRU dorms. And if the external features don't interest you, you be hard pressed to argue that what's on the inside isn't superb. That's not to say that I think college undergrads should be pampered in the way they are with those buildings (!), but the spaces are amazing and should prove to be very functional for students who want to have a social atmosphere, as well as one conducive to studying. I'm not at all criticising you for having a strong opinion (we all have them here!), but I wanted to share my take.
  6. Thanks for the pics Jim! Those views are great! My ladyfriend & I drove through last weekend and were impressed with the stained wood on the Battery Park Avenue homes, but dismayed at the cinder block facade that we thought would be fronted with something a bit more attractive...say, brick? Anyone else notice this? We also saw a young couple taking pictures of their home in the midst of construction. Great to see!
  7. Interestingly, both the new and old Glenville Town Centers are fully tenanted...not a single vacancy. I can't say I've ever been inside the ESM, though. There's another grocery just across the street. East Town Eagle, I believe. I don't know how much of a factor the location was here, but I'm sure it was a factor. This does seem like a fairly successful location for convenience retail, however, so there were certainly other factors at play.

yeah, what happened to this tough road trip they're on? Their road record is better than their home record! Still, we're doing what we've got to do...win!
  9. That's a logical (and good) question. Who will buy the air rights? I believe these have to be sold to someone in surrounding blocks. Not sure where these would be applied.
  10. I'm going to have to check that place out!
  11. ^Do they have one already? If not, they should get one going! What about Glenville?
  12. For those of you who want to get or remain involved in the process of making the Circle more accessible, this relates directly to many of the projects we're talking about in University Circle. From the VA expansion to the potential developments on the West Quad and in the Upper Chester neighborhood, CMNH and CMA expansions and the ever-growing Clinic campus.
  13. This is going to be a significant project because of CMNH's relationship to Wade Oval, CBG, CMA, and the E. 105 & MLK intersection... each of which have either just had millions spent on their renovation/expansion or are about to see millions spent.
  14. I heard this too and it has honestly deterred me from going on a couple of occasions, for fear that it wouldn't be open (I know, I could call ahead).
  15. does 44113 count? I recently registered with Crate and Barrel for my wedding and despite the fact that none of the goods will actually fit in my apartment in Ohio City, I still wanted my Cleveland address on the "ship to" line with exactly the above thoughts in mind. Crazy thing is, we're not purchasing any of it; people from all over are... still, it's probably more money than I've spent on myself in the past 5 years...all at once!

Not that I'll ever go there. I just have this theory that people put up signs for projects that never existed...just to keep things interesting!
  17. I don't know if I'm more impressed with this purported strategery by DSCDO or by B12's leviathan vocabulary!

But seriously, action at Bar One?
  19. I tried to post a comment there today, but it gave me an error message. I gave up... no patience for that sort of thing (and totally not your fault!)

    There was a debate?
  21. I ran into a neighbor who went there last night... they apparently have some Tuesday night special deal. Anyone recall what it is? I've always liked Halite.

Who's gonna send this photo montage to Jennifer Hunter (at the Chicago Sun-Times)? Great shots MayDay! Is that actual work I see being done in the Bar One space on Superior?
  23. If you hadn't eaten something so yummy and full of fatty goodness, would you have hit the elliptical? perhaps not... so Teahouse Noodles forced you into a workout... therefore, it's good for you!
  24. Plus, there's not many places Downtown that can get you something that tasty and good for you in such a quick fashion. They're also super nice!
  25. I've only ever been to the one on E. 6th and that one only a couple times. I've never been all that impressed. Plus, when I go down there, I'm always lured in by Teahouse Noodles!
