So, I didn't read your fine print until watching about 35 seconds of the last video you posted. That's hilarious!

Friggin sweet! I had no idea it was going to turn around this quickly! On a side note, I went to a Chinese New Year's party across the street in the West Virginia last month and was very impressed with the two-story unit that my friend lived in. Lots of exposed brick, two walk-out terraces and great views. The Kitchen and living space featured nice updates and had a modern loft feel, with the brick offsetting the carpet nicely.

he's garbage...and AC and Scottie Williams aren't nearly as amusing as they were with Michael Reghi.

I wonder if that came from a play on the boss's name? (Gordon Priemer) People always mess up and call him Gordon Premiere. Fools!

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Funny, scary, and the alley-oop that resulted was just freakin amazing! Fred McLeod likes to use the "right down Euclid Avenue" line when describing Lebron's drives to the bucket... a nice touch from an otherwise poopy announcer.

That was the first train to arrive and depart or all the previous ones were too crowded? I'm assuming the former and that the "dusting" we got over night will be blamed... when did we become snow sissies in Cleveland???

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Wow! That's been a hot topic of conversation around here, but I had no idea! Go MRN! I also have no idea how much work will need to be done to make that building productive again, but with that location, it's gotta be possible. One of the main issues with the property - and I cringe to say it - is that there is a real shortage of parking. MRN clearly sees the potential is great enough to figure it out, though!

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Heartland really is capitalizing on the TOD concept in a way that a lot of other developers have yet to realize in Cleveland. Their marketing boasts the transit connections, in addition to the developments truly orienting themselves towards transit and a good mixture of uses. I was a little surprised to hear that RTA has decided to sell the above properties, though. I thought the idea was for them to lease them and generate ongoing revenues into the future. I suppose they can do this once the market is established and in this way, avoid the complications of selling developers on a partnership in which the developer doesn't actually own the land (this has been discussed further on the TOD thread). Anyway, this is positive talk in an area a lot of us are passionate about. Let's make it happen!

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Fado was in shambles last night, too. I was down there around 6:00 pm and there were quite a few people around...mostly going to the naughty bar. I hadn't been on ORR in a while and was reminded that there are a few nice 4-story brick buildings on the east side of the street. Didn't we have a photo thread on here somewhere that took us through the buildings? I can't find it...

East Coasters with Kiddo Moving to Cleveland
Wow, it's very rare to find a unit in University Circle with Montlack this time of year. In general, the pickings are slim once all the kids sign their leases in the fall. I have more resources for the Circle if anyone needs them. Or you can just go to UniversityCircle.org and visit the real estate management page: http://www.universitycircle.org/content/real_estate_management_department.asp FYI, there are two different Montlacks... Montlack Management: www.montlack.com Montlack Realty: www.montlackrealty.com Former Wim, you went through the first one, right?

Cleveland: Park Lane Villa
Yeah, these are going to be super nice. I think that the situation I spoke of above was a special one in which some doctor or something said he would pay all sorts of extra money to confirm a particular space and to add upgrades. What this entails, I'm not exactly sure, but it could be better counter tops, a higher end bathroom, or something. If he's paying a premium for it, then why not? And if he moves out, they'll have a nice unit to rent to the next guy. The condos are on hold for now. Last I heard, they were going through a redesign and were trying to fit more in. This building will be rental for at least 5 years and the developer is not allowed to speculate about going condo at the end of that period. I guess it's a no-no to admit the inevitable at this point in time.

Cleveland: Marketing the City
Again, my point is that it was a whole lotta trash-talking that had little to do with the meat of the article. To her credit, she's already responded to my email with a number of comments. She apparently spent multiple days walking around town and interviewing locals, which is what she based her statements on. We all know that Cleveland (and Downtown in particular) doesn't function as we would like it to be. It was all that much more apparent to her, coming from Chicago, and she apparently felt that was a good way to lead into the article. I still disagree. I also agree with B12 that the real content of the article (about the political debate) was more than a little sketchy...

Wow, what a cool coincidence, Vulpster! Too bad her prof had no idea what he/she was talking about! I'm actually about to forward that article to our friend from the Chicago Sun-Times. She sounds like she's actually open to learning about what's going on in Cleveland.

Cleveland: Marketing the City
my issue with this article is that the first two paragraphs have nothing to do with the rest of the article. maybe they don't teach that in Canadian journalist school. this, from her bio: She intends to keep on writing until someone tells her to stop. And she will likely ignore them anyway.

University Circle (Cleveland) accessibility
Well, none of the 5 addresses I sent my letter to at the PD elicited a response and my feelings are now officially hurt... ... This email is in direct response to today's short piece by Patrick O'Donnell on the big events and parking problems in University Circle. In general, it is a plea to the writers to broaden their perspectives in regard to transit. I am very well acquainted with University Circle and its institutions and while I do sincerely appreciate all the publicity that the PD gives to these world class venues, I am concerned with the message you are sending that the only way to get to this immensely busy locale is by car. In your "other options" section, you suggest that visitors simply try another weekend. However, as is true with much of the city and its major destinations, our RTA provides a plethora of options for individuals and groups to travel by bus or train for a reasonable price. University Circle, in particular, is served by more than a dozen bus lines and the Red Line rapid. Some of these buses run through the heart of the Circle, while the rapid stops on the fringe, but is served by several free "circulator" routes that take passengers right to the venues they are looking for. For those who are able to walk, both stops are less than a 15 minute walk to various destinations. The website you referenced for University Circle Inc. provides a comprehensive map with all of these routes for visitors to reference, as does the RTA's www.riderta.com. As University Circle continues to grow with more employees, residents and visitors, it is imperative that we promote transit as a viable alternative to private automobiles. Though the Circle currently has more than 10,000 parking spaces (yes, TEN thousand), more parking is not the solution to congestion problems. In addition, the Euclid Corridor construction is now in full swing as it runs through University Circle. When mentioning traffic issues for drivers in the Circle, it might be helpful to note that Euclid is down to two lanes. Thanks for listening!

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Although I initially cringed when I read this, I don't object to this comment. There certainly are adverse impacts of density, and half of what I do around my office is work to address those impacts. The other half of what I do is try to create density. There has to be a balance, which is how I interpreted the comment.
