^I would think they'd look at it from all angles. The retail space is where the Wall Street Deli used to be, correct?

human traffic jam on moscow subway
Yeah, what? That's a subway station? It looks like a freakin opera house! I've never experienced anything even close to that crowd in transit. I'm surprised they let it get to that point. When I lived in London, during rush hour, they would set up lines at different points both inside and outside of the station. Sometimes they went up to street level. They'd count the number of people they'd let in as each train came through. The trains were literally coming one after the other into the station (Victoria). Those platforms were tiny, compared to NYC, and if they'd allowed a traffic buildup like the ones in that video, people'd be pushed onto the tracks in a second. Crazy!

Transportation priorities of incoming governor
Great find gildone. I heard about this site on NPR this morning and was planning on checking it out. They're saying lots of things I want to hear. Now it's up to the people to make sure they know that these are priorities that can't wait! Noozer, I am also very curious about who's coming and who's going in these departments.

Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail
Bridges open for business along the Towpath Trail Wednesday, November 15, 2006 By John Kametz The Sun Courier Cleveland Metroparks officials could not have asked for a better day to celebrate the opening of the two pedestrian bridges that take Towpath Trail users safely up and over busy Warner and Granger roads in Garfield Heights and adjacent Valley View. Temperatures were in the near-70s Nov. 9 as park officials, the two communities' mayors and other dignitaries gathered at the Warner Road span for the celebratory event gathered for the opening were members of several hiking and cycling clubs, and mothers with strollers. http://www.cleveland.com/suncourier/news/index.ssf?/base/news-0/1163619538165360.xml&coll=4

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Some of the other spaces mid-block on E. 4th are pretty huge, deep spaces, but I'd never thought about the spaces hopping over to the other side of Prospect. Does MRN own those buildings? It'd be great to see an overhead site plan of the retail spaces in the district with current tenants, vacancies, square footages, and upcoming occupancies, don'tchya think?

The exodus continues... From Cleveland.com: Rubbermaid office shifting jobs South What little is left of Rubbermaid in Northeast Ohio will be shrinking even more. Rubbermaid Home Products plans to move its headquarters from Fairlawn to Huntersville, N.C., by the end of September next year, leaving about 60 employees in Fairlawn to provide customer service and consumer service, Fairlawn Mayor William Roth said Monday. Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
From my understanding, Hundert was more of a divider than a driver. He wasn't known for his cross-institutional collaboration and didn't get along well with some of the other primary players in the neighborhood (let alone in his own university). Retail and renovations on Euclid at Ford/Mayfield can be credited to hard work by UCI, who owns both the Circle East and Circle Place (Commodore) buildings. Circle Place is about to undergo some significant rehab work and they're marketing the hell out of those vacant spaces. Places like Bellflower Court could be even more wonderful if individuals (like Hundert) were a little more open to things happening organically. And maybe Case would have a little more money to work with on these next big projects if they didn't waaaaay overspend on some of the ones that Hundert oversaw (Village @ 115, Peter B. Lewis). These are my opinions, based on my limited experience, so anyone who wants to chime in, feel free to do so! Also, MRN is still the lead developer in the Triangle/Beach development. Their partner from Chicago dropped out several months ago. Zaremba has been the other name thrown around as a new partner.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Whoda thunk that 3 weeks into the season that Phoenix and Detroit would be ranked 22 and 23 (respectively) in nba.com's power rankings? I can't figure it out, but neither team is playing very well at all. The Cavs, while I don't think they've played their best ball yet, are kicking ass. At 6-2, they're tops in the East. It's nice to see the bench playing so well and giving the big boys some time off. Woo hoo!

^Good question! We're shooting for May...Memorial Day weekend. Still lots of variables to work out, though. We'd like to have the Hyatt Regency in the Arcade be the hotel and do most of the festivities in Ohio City. That way, people can party around E. 4th the night before and spend the day and night with us in Ohio City before the short trip back across the river. I'm pretty excited!
