Well put, Mr. Livingston! Reghi kicked aside in classless manner Friday, August 04, 2006 Bill Livingston Plain Dealer Columnist For many of his 13 years as the Cavaliers' TV voice, Mi chael Reghi was as professional a guy as the ramshackle franchise had. That's what makes his firing so stunning. Reghi spent a lot of years trying to make some horrible teams palatable to the Cleveland audience. It was classless for the Cavs to have fired him this week, late in the off-season when the basketball jobs are drying up. More at www.cleveland.com

Lebron's on TV tonight...US v. Puerto Rico...exhibition game for the World Championship!
  3. now I'm all embarrassed that I showed signs of doubt! Is August 15th still the start-date for city improvements on the property?
  4. Now we can all list ourselves as "marketing consultants" for the Avenue District! Clearly, they want to get there...but does this mean they're getting desperate?
  5. what about the spot just west of Cinergy---errrr...GAB? Are those being primed for something? We've got big ol' chunks of land just west and north of Browns Stadium that aren't marked as surface lots, but they behave as such on a few select Sundays every year. Otherwise, they're Port of Cleveland facilities. We're working on a master plan to move them to the west side of the river...that's our "next millenium" plan!

"mmmhhh...I need some of that diGiorno pizza! Got one in my oven right now!" No you don't, AC! You're courtside at the Q! Quit lyin! That's what I liked about AC and Reghi...AC seemed drunk or just airheaded half the time, but Reghi would always pull it back to the game. Oh, and AC does the BEST postgame interviews. You can just tell he wants to hug everyone, give 'em all pats on their bottoms, and has a hard time containing himself!
  7. Sisser's the one that used to have the Baseball History space in it. It's old and brick and has a prominent fire escape up the front of it. It's sandwiched somewhere between the new Lola space and the HoB.
  8. How about a Burritoville? Those are pretty small and stay open late...at least there should be one somewhere Downtown, now that Tequila Ranch deleted its burrito bar! I'm no expert here, but the Corner Alley doesn't look like it'll be ready to roll in the Fall...maybe they need more public subsidy? One last comment...the old Sissler [edit: oops! I meant "Sisser"] space appears to have a different owner and I don't believe MRN is the developer. Word on the streets is that they'll be converting the upper floors to condos and have been in conversations with a couple potential retailers.

    LAAAAAME!!!
  10. I finally signed up! I'd been meaning to do that for quite some time now. Now, when do I start seeing results?
  11. ^That's good news. I didn't think they'd be renewed in the spot they're in now. Speaking of which, I haven't heard anything about Eli Mann's project (1001 - 1021 Euclid) in a while. Anyone else?

I really liked him in tandem with Scott(ie) Williams and Austin Carr! They were pretty funny and his commentary definitely kept things on point. Bummer!
  13. Those are great! They really demonstrate that there is room to grow in both CBDs. Also, Cleveland appears to have more "full block" surface lots in the CBD than Cincinnati. Thankfully, there are plans on the near horizon for several of these (Avenue District & Stark's "Pesht"). How about Cincy? I'm not up-to-date there.
  14. wow, i've never seen such great closeups of Leveque Tower...fantastic!
  15. Aha! Finally, we have proof that rivers are brown and not blue when viewed from above! Time to change all those pretty maps!
  16. Dudes, like I said: "Much like the above number, I believe that only applies to new single-family home construction..." I don't think multi-family buildings are included in that list. Also, that was a number given to me during a lecture by someone in the industry who I believe is credible. However, his criteria could've been funky or I could've just dropped a digit in my notes!
  17. ^hmmm....the auditor's site lists it as built in 1998. Are you sure you aren't confusing it with the beautiful home on Franklin, just west of Franklin Circle? As many of the posts throughout this thread indicate, there's lots of activity throughout the Ohio City community...not just along W. 25th. W. 28th to W. 32nd between Franklin and Clinton is actually one of the hottest spots around right now!
  18. By the way, that big new-ish house on Jay, just west of W. 26th has a "sold" sign on it. It had been on the market since I moved here a year ago for over $400k! They also just switched from PURE to Realty One, for what that's worth...
  19. ^Similar conversations are under way in the University Circle area...I'll keep ya posted!
  20. exxxxcellent...I've never seen that view of the lot. Now, put those urban design skillz to work and make it look pretty!
  21. Which lots? The WSM parking lots? Those are all owned by the City. Which is just one more reason why they should be developed! I'm not talking about building a mess of high rises over there. I'm talking about some neighborhood buildings that are to scale with the rest of Ohio City. Basically, 2-6 story buildings. But having a well-placed tower here or there wouldn't kill the mood either!
  22. There's a huge section for public art in the construction documents that have been handed around to various organizations. I haven't had a chance to peruse them, but they're in there!
  23. true that. they may have been connected by some sort of walkway, but I can't recall. I'll have to check it out sometime...see if there are any markings on the rear of the precinct building or if my photos have any evidence.

The Levin College, with funding from the Gund Foundation, is working on a "form based zoning" effort that focuses on Lorain as its model street. The end goal (I believe) is to attract more real estate attention to the corridor by upping the ante as far as design and code are concerned. Namely, no more used car lots or drive-thrus. It won't happen over night, but it's gotta start somewhere, right? Also, the prices along that strip are remarkably cheap. You can buy a half-block of retail frontage with rentals on top for a song. That, or you can buy some vacant land and build new. It seems like a great opportunity for a developer (or three!) to come in and start filling in the gaps! I've been to Suite Lorain and I loved it. Do they still have the soda fountain/diner setup when you first walk in? Is the Wrecking Ball that Rob1412 mentioned still around? That sounds awesome!
  25. I'm sure there were people thinking about the Tower Press building, but there were no signs whatsoever of anything being done. I took pictures of that too, all ivy covored and beautiful. Was the Criminal Courts building attached to the current police HQ? I don't believe the TP lot was a result of the demo...
