Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Well, I wrote my say and never heard from anyone from his office including the Emperor himself. As someone posted, HOW can one man impose his misguided opinions/ego on a state of 11 million plus? Amazing.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
^ "Don't hold your breath. Kasich is a deeply-rooted idealgue who has a fundamental dislike of passenger rail... fought to permanently derail Amtrak for his entire time in Congress. There is no tweaking to the 3C plan that will change his mind." Such is a reason why it is so scary to have him in office. Where will this die-hard yocal local mentality stop!

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Enforcing existing rules and doing the basics I have mentioned before would do wonders for RTA.

Excellent rebuttal. This is insanity to say the least to be this short sighted. How embarrassing for Ohio.

Cleveland - Urban Exploring / (Hidden) History - Part I & Part II
Excellent! It is so refreshing to see photos from the lesser known areas that are forgotten hidden little treasures. So many photo threads are basically repeats....hamburgers if you will, with only slight alterations of condiments. You take us down the path of different and re-discovery! Thanks for posting! Love it! On a side note...I also wish some of the great enthusiastic, broad-minded urban pioneers, like the kind on UO, would perhaps begin to look at occupying and pumping some life back in many of the neighborhoods where the photos of the houses are. I guess I just tire of the same old gentrifying areas of focus. There is so much more to Cleveland than Ohio City, Tremont, and the likes. When my ship comes in, I will buy a block of abandoned homes and make it happen! :-)

Cleveland: Downtown Aquarium
Not that I am carving in stone locating an aquarium directly on water, as evidence in the advocating I had for the Galleria to adapt to one....However, all the major successful aquariums are built on or near the water... I would take the Galleria any day over near E.4th. Structural limitations/expenses to re-structure prevent the Galleria options. It is time we explore other ways to spread foot traffic by offering reasons to explore, and limit the polarizing of all the potential foot traffic in these districts such as 4th. Having said that, so, many people act like our downtown is the size of Manhattan in that they act like 2 blocks is a nightmare to have to walk! Here is a photo and description of the Galleria proposal. http://downtowncleveland.org/blog/index.php/2009/09/aquarium-in-galleria/

Cleveland: Downtown Aquarium
You can come down to the Galleria and I can show you this right now already in existence. Although very small, it is more about example and education...and what can be done on a larger scale. On the larger scale....Yes, the CA would demonstrate how all the aquatic habitats are linked to one another...how they interact and affect one another and showcase many of the unique and lesser known inhabitants. It will demonstrate the less obvious stars of nature too and how their existence is important in relation to our own. Part of the purpose of the educational component of an aquarium is to re-connect humans with the aquatic habitats upon which they depend....and how we affect the whole when we tinker with the parts. The freshwater fauna being a part of the whole system. In Tennessee, for example, the aquarium in Chattanooga represents aquatic habitats that begin 6,000 feet in small headwater streams in the hills/mountains...and progresses right down to the coastal habitats and the seas. It is quite unique. There are three films currently available at the Gardens Under Glass Re-Source Center that are going to be presented that feature the lesser known aquatic life of North America (Ohio being a big part of the temperate fish fauna) and basically explain why these environments deserve just as much attention to conservation as the big and bold. But not to go way off.... Yes, a good aquarium, and CA is a great proposal, would showcase the aquatic diversity in the world, and also adequately represent the ones that are right under our noses that we abuse so much and take for granted. Such is a must. You would be surprised just how "cool" these are right here...that we take so much for granted. Just take a look at the thread I had on "Underwater Urban Ohio" Some title to that nature for a glimpse. By the way, here is that thread.... Does not do it justice, but its a start..and Btw... I will be hosting local stream exploration outings and people are welcome to come. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,19687.0.html

Cleveland Browns Discussion
The AAFC deserves more credit than it gets. Any team that comes out of the AAFC and wins the championship in its first year in the NFL means an awful lot. And the 1948 Browns' 14-0 season followed by an AAFC championship never gets mentioned with the 1972 Miami Dolphins' 14-0 season followed by two playoff wins and an NFL championship. It should. The AAFC was pro football, and very high quality football at that. The NFL seems to pick and choose what they want to count from the AAFC Agreed. How conveniently forgotten is this history. Another point, although trivial unless arguing with a Smellers fan...is the fact that the original Browns franchise won the all time series against Pitt. before the organization moved. Since this expansion team has contributed to staining so much of a respectable history, I almost wish there could be a notation included when listing stats that points out "expansion Browns"

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
This piece of garbage publication is about as credible as Faux News... and it deserves to be on the top 10 worst information sources list. I think there must be people sitting around their offices with nothing better to do than to regurgitate this same old archaic repeated and tired nonsensical list crap.

Cleveland: Downtown Aquarium
For profit aquariums generally have low quality showcase. An aquarium is not an aquarium... one must compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges, but that's all I will say on this as I spoke my peace on this subject a long time ago. The best plan, the right plan...the one that would gain Cleveland great respect and memorable visits with an iconic first class presentation is the one that lags with the current financing. CA... Still my vote to support in contrast to the "roadside attraction" exhibit in the PH. As one who is quite familiar with what such an exhibit would need in terms of qualified care, and because live animals are involved, I cannot support interests that are more so about profit/exploitation first...animals well being second. Education and proper husbandry of animals creates a great world class aquarium, on the other hand. If the roadside attraction at the power house winds up failing---then--- because most people do not know what a quality one is versus a non-quality one (and this does not necessarily mean bigger is better), another concern of mine is how such a scenario would taint the public opinions/support about supporting an aquarium in the future, should a better thing come along. CDC peanut gallery folk would have a field day with that and post idiotic posts like... "Weeelll.. we tried an aquarium once and it failed.... WHY waste our tax money on another willy nilly adventure like this??!!!"... etc.. You know how it goes on there.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
This is why I fear his agenda will result in even more sprawl Ohio simply does NOT need. With it, its an "anything goes" statewide assault on buffers, farmlands, forest, etc.... This is not a benefactor to efforts that try to restore the cores. I shudder to think what Ohio would look like if these ways are allowed to go unabated. This guy is utterly clueless and careless.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
"Disproportionately on "young black males?"..... Here we go again.... This is what is part of the majority of riders are a lot of the time, so the only thing disproportionate is the fact that they are the majority making it a non-diverse ridership. So, if they are the majority at any given time then naturally, they will be the focus. And because the fact that "race" is at the tip of the tongues, is a testament to why we cannot advance.... the race card dealers will not allow it. They continually turn the tables around and point the issue away from the law breaker towards the law/rule enforcer...sending the message that the inappropriate behavior that drew attention from the law in the first place...is perfectly fine, because its not that they're breaking laws and/or rules...its that the enforcing body is a "racist." That is very prejudiced on the part of the person dealing the race card, but usually they're too full of themselves and in need of validation and attention to shut the hell up and listen as to WHY they are wrong! And all is a big pat of the reason the inappropriate actions by the accused are allowed to continue. Rather than deal with the drama of an uprising, they're (the law/rule breaker) just given what they want to appease them. The rest give up...move, or walk away when tired of this crapola....and then are accused of being "racist" for turning the other cheek. Please, opinions do not form without a reason, and its high time black riders or anyone else who deals a race card when law enforcement is simply and legitimately doing its job, ceases this nonsense because it is only contributing to creating resentment and more negative images of blacks. That is unfair to the majority of that race to have a few idiots stirring up crap when there is no need. All this does nothing positive for Cleveland and really holds the city back because we have to tolerate or put up with what should NOT be tolerated in the first place. In other words, when shutting up (instead of immediately dealing a race card) long enough to listen to what this looks and sounds like through the eyes/ears of many others...They just might have an epiphany that the problems and issues they gripe about are not so much with or because of everyone else... It starts with them! Having said this, please, don't be prejudiced and deal the race card on me stating how I see this issue. If I have to sugarcoat and tip toe around words, then I will be accused of making "references" or speaking in :"code" I am flat out telling it how I feel...and if I cannot be honest with expressing a thought or feeling, then there is no point in expressing it if I have to make it light and fluffy for some to digest. Race cards.... It is one thing I simply do not tolerate when there is simply no room for it. And in the above case, there is NOT. Jesus, Mary and Joseph!!!....Some need to learn about personal responsibility. Corporations need to learn about it...and so should others. Black juvenile riders who are doing something inappropriate are no exception to the rule.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Why is it that everytime we address an issue like this here...instead of facing up to what we need to do about the given issue...we act like because it happens in other places, it must be ok. We need to take care of our portion of the neighborhood in this world, so to speak...and not sit back with complacency because an issue exists somewhere else. Let's see how far having homeless straying all over 9th Street gets us. The problem here may be disproportionate to our size, regardless of it existing in other areas. And yes, I have sisters in San Fran. Btw....Hts121... Public ordinances can be utilized prohibiting defecation or urination and loitering in public spaces. The former two points constitutes a public health issue. Just because I look at this as an issue that deters good investment, does not mean I am some neo-con suburbanite who is out of touch! Rather, its about not sugarcoating this issue with tones that its no big deal. It is a big deal. Uh oh... I sense a real pressure cooker brewing here!
