Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Proof of pass purchase needs to be checked regularly...this is essential... Not occasionally. But this agency will never get it..Hence why I am no longer riding it... Just on the occasion. I support PT, not ineptness/complacency in overlooking the obvious things, though.

I love this street.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
I hope that it does not go into disrepair to the point the demolition promoters come out again and use the rationale that it costs more to renovate than to build something new---and we get something really bad in place of it.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
On their way to another 5-11 season. Poor offensive performance. Defense played well enough to win. Indeed, these were two games they definitely needed to win. And just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water!

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
I am not speaking of this tower when I say this specifically, but there are plenty of buildings around there that could use something very basic at least at street level. Pride is free..and when you have pride in your building, something as the simple effort to wash a window makes a difference in how neighbors view other property owners. Effort is worth a lot.

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
Isn't here an area at E. 89th that is a historic district? Some great large homes there... It is off Chester. Upper Chester, I think.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
I agree, the state of it is really sad. I wish that basic curb appeal upkeep was a bit more of a priority to owners of properties like this. I had an empty building for sale for 2 years and always kept it looking nice with simplistics like window washing a bit of fresh paint. Don't know what can be done to a 400 foot tower, however, that wouldn't probably cost an arm and leg. But the smaller buildings in that part of Euclid..at least the street level... I mean, come on..its not that difficult.

Cleveland: Tremont Questions
I am through Tremont frequently and never had a problem, but this is not to say they don't exist. I guess its about timing and exercising common sense safety precautions and being aware of your surroundings and who is nearby. Never fiddle with belongings, such as a wallet in clear sight..etc..etc.. Don't know what the exact stats are.... Commenting on the above quoted part: I don't know if I would simply tear down homes that can be restored...ones that are still worthy of it. I think a lot of these simple workers cottages/homes can be spruced up quite well. Tremont also has a splash of class and nicer homes here and there and represents an era well. The new stuff may look nice and fresh, but I would bet that even a lot of the mundane quickly built workers homes were/are more solid than some of the new stuff we see being built. Especially the kind of new stuff that seems to start to look worn just after a few years. I prefer renovation and deconstruction whenever it can be done. However, from a block watch perspective, there are some places that cannot sit forever awaiting a new interest because eventually they will become dirt magnets and undermine values other properties that are in decent or very good shape. So as much as I am for promoting preservation of the best examples of time periods and styles, I acknowledge that part. On the other hand, I totally agree that there are so many other areas in the city that have some incredible homes that need a lot of TLC. I have seen them in Broadway/Slavic Village....Fairfax, Glenville, Hough, and a host of other neighborhoods worth some re-discovery. With all the great promoters of being urban pioneers and cheerleaders for such neighborhoods in Cleveland here.... I look at photo threads from Clueless and don't seem to notice anyone walking those streets! :-P I'd like to see more action in other areas besides the usual. I actually plan on eventually investing in such an area and buying up some homes in need. One point on Tremont... Although not technically in Tremont, but certainly a gateway into the neighborhood.. Clark and 14th.. Those crappy looking fuel stations are a huge eyesore. Operators won't do even the simplest things to have the properties looking respectable. Point is, more commercial properties need to do their part as well in many areas. Its not only homes that need more attention.

Clark-Fulton Cleveland
^ My bad.. You're right, I stand corrected, thanks..... I meant to cover a wider demographic that would include anyone not born here and not in PR. I corrected it. Still a commonwealth and not a state, though, is that it?

Clark-Fulton Cleveland
Just curios...since it is largely dominated by the Latino community, I wonder how many exist in the neighborhood legally if born somewhere else, but not in PR. Disclaimer: I am sure I will be hug out to dry for that query, so excuse me for asking this question as a legal US born citizen. I'm very sorry for that... I know how terrible it is of me to even wonder such a thing because afterall, according to my Shawnee friend, we are all illegal immigrants! I seemed to have noticed some added photos? Great photos depicting simple daily life. It would be nice to see more of the historic structures properly restored and cherished. I like looking at old photos of this area in the 1930's... streetcars and all... what a seemingly clean and thriving look it had. Ooops.. am I allowed to say that? I hope that is not taken all the wrong way and twisted around. Anyway, great pics Clueless... great for sharing a lesser known but really interesting area still boasting the original structural fabric. I would love to see that old theater around there restored... Of course, Cleveland is more than usual Tremont and Ohio City of where we see so many photos. Good point Bumsquare... I love preserving the history as well.. But if a place sits so long and no one is doing anything with it, such a place IS a dirt magnet that will eventually undermine the value of any existing nicer properties---even historic ones.

To get a pre-view of some of the clientele that will frequent and be associated with casinos around here......an invitation is extended to visit S.R. 91 in Akron (Springfield TWP. "internet cafe" alley) Its as though every Mall-Wart in the country suddenly broke open like a giant pinata and spilled its contents of patrons over a hundred acres! Enjoy oh this savior of the economy that will be so unlike the countless other nearby cities who have the same thing!

Clark-Fulton Cleveland
They don't look so bad when some people paint them dark and plant a lot of vegetation around them....grape vines and the sort. Then you cannot see them. They're good for that sort of thing.

The prickly pear cactus, as seen in one photo, produces a flavorful edible fig-like fruit that is loaded with vitamin C. This plant grows in...and has Ohio as a part of its range.

Great photos! Love the old brick structures in this area. The storefronts on the old buildings are really designed with pedestrians in mind and I would love to see them restored and the boards removed from the corner-like entrances. When I get tied of the same old focus on the same areas of revitalization it is nice to see the potential in other areas like this and in creating something new in them. Thanks for posting something really different--Everyday life as is.

Cleveland: Downtown Storefront Displays
Here is what it will look like when completed.... As though there are cartoons LIVE inside the building! Best of all, with the lack of access to power inside, these will still show up well at night.
